I turned on the Braves-Phillies game on ESPN. It was a 2-1 score at the time, and Atlanta then proceeds to hit back to back to back home runs to make it 5-1, no outs in the 8th inning. That was some good timing for turning on the game. :D

I'm gonna have to start paying more attention to Reds games on TV, which they're always on here. Between Fox Sports Detroit (Tigers), SportsTime Ohio (Fox Sports affiliated) (Indians) and the actual Fox Sports Ohio (Reds), I'm always guaranteed at least one "local" baseball game every day, plus a White Sox or Cubs game on WGN a couple times a week.

Well, after watching Speedy Gonzalez, aka Billy Hamilton, I'll have to turn the Reds on more often. Jesus that guy has speed.

It's early and he's still on pace to hit 31 (his pace at this point last year was 47) so not really a big deal as 31 is still pretty damn good.

Yeah, just looking at his stats now. His first two years, 2008 (295 AB) and 2009 (391 AB) with Texas, he hit 17 and 21 home runs. 2010 with Texas (120 AB) he hit just one single home run.

2011 with both Texas and Baltimore, a combined 199 AB, he hit a total of 5 home runs for the season. 2012 with Baltimore (515 AB) he hit 33 home runs and then last year with Baltimore (584 AB), he exploded for 53 home runs.

Now, actually looking at he numbers for at bats and games played, actually playing full seasons and increasing the number of at bats since arriving in Baltimore, some increased numbers of home runs makes sense. But to go from hitting just 6 total home runs for 2010 and 2011 combined, to hitting 33 and 53 the last two years, when his career high before that had been 21 back in 2009, it had a lot of people asking about the possibility of him taking steroids to suddenly come out of nowhere like that in home run numbers.

Astros are doing a rebuild project the right way. Build through the draft and youth and key the payroll LOW while you are losing/rebuilding so you can spend that extra $ later when you eventually become a playoff team/contender.

They are. And it looks like it's paying off. I've never had a problem with their plan, I just feared it being executed poorly. Screw up the draft and you spend 2 decades in hell, like the Pirates.

I watched the Tigers-Jays game this afternoon. It was officially the longest ever baseball game the Toronto Blue Jays have played in. The game went 19 innings... then with bases loaded Jose Bautista hit a single to drive in Kawasaki and the Jays won 6-5. The game was 6 hours and 37 minutes in length!
