I actually am looking forward to the game. I would much rather the Broncos face the Chargers and Philip Rivers than the Colts and Andrew Luck, based on the outcomes of games against those two teams during the season.

Understood.

You just made me realize that the Broncos are 0-4 against the 3 teams left in the AFC. :fp:

Great game against GB this Sunday for Sf and get a get road win. next it is onto Carolina. Romans needs to stop being a pussy and run the ball more and use Gore 10x better in the red zone. Fucking red zone scores was terrible play calling trying to pass it in 3 times and epic fail. Overall fun day to be at Lambeau field for my first NFL game. Can't wait to to one next year when it is a little warmer weather. Even with being a 9er fan in GB stadium the fans where pretty good about it and after losing as well it wasn't all that bad from the fans either. Again it was a great fun experience. Also despite the low temps at zero to negative degrees stayed pretty warm

Hey, anything can happen now. Pittsburgh and New York did it, why not San Diego? New England is vulnerable. The Broncos are vulnerable. Indianapolis is hardly a powerhouse. I could easily see San Diego making some noise and bouncing someone that's a favorite to win out of the Super Bowl hunt.

Pittsburgh was 11-5 and just got healthy down the stretch (they should have been better than 11-5). They were coming off of a 15-1 season and were quite arguably the best team in the league.

I only say that to clear up the 2005 Steelers because I do agree. In fact, I'll be a little surprised if Denver beats San Diego (see my posts above).

Denver is going to roll San Diego.

Panther's defense steps up to clip the Niners.

Seattle does the same to the Saints.

Yeah. My bad. For some reason I thought San Diego swept them.

Yeah, just making the record was straight. :D Either way, 1-3 or 0-4, yeah, it's still an ugly record against the remaining AFC teams, I will agree there with you. I'm certainly hoping for better success against two of those three teams here in the playoffs than that of the regular season.

I definitely still say, between the Chargers and the Colts, I by far prefer San Diego. The Colts, Denver played horrible against and it took some serious pulling from the ass to close that score up to what it was.

Watching that Denver game today did NOT instil confidence ahead of the New England game. I thought the Broncos would have looked and played a lot better. There is no team I dislike more than the Patriots so I really need to see Denver step it up.

Forgot to mention... very disappointing effort today from Carolina. I actually had put Carolina through to the SB. That 2nd half was an ugly half of football by the Panthers and they did NOT deserve to win. I will be going for the Seahawks next week.

I just hope we have good games next week. These games weren't that good this weekend. First half SF-Carolina yes. Late rally with onside kick for SD yes. But most of the time the games weren't that competitive. It's nice to see four teams in the Championships with great records too. Everyone had at least 12 wins in the regular season (I wonder if that's some sort of modern record?) and these are the top teams. Well deserved and should set up an epic Championship week.

Broncos gonna take it don't worry. NE defense is so lost out there right now. Manning doing OMAHA like crazy every other play. Unless Brady can go no huddle and score quicly before the half its over already.

I'm more about sf and Kaep having a good game but they should be fine and keep clean of the turn overs. and get Gore on track. Should be a fun game. go 9rs!

Bullshit! When Denver and New England played during the regular season, Denver led 24-0 at halftime. Gave up 31 straight points, had to score with three minutes left to tie it up 31-31, then lost 34-31 in overtime. A 13-3 halftime lead is NOT safe and the Broncos have LOTS to worry about.

2:36 for New England to go 80 yards and score a touchdown. Exactly why I am still losing my goddamn mind with only a 13 point lead and 9 minutes left. Denver must drive down the field on this current drive and they HAVE to get a touchdown. Field goals are not going to cut it.

Sherman flaps his gums too much but it's not really shocking to find out that WRs and CBs are not humble in the NFL. I wish Sherman would shut up but I don't think he's a thug. He never cursed on TV while the kids were watching, he didn't get a DUI or commit a crime. He's Stanford educated. He's just a braggart.

I was targeted only twice during the entire NFC Championship. The first produced a BS holding call against me; the second ended the game.

He is grossly mistaken if he didn't think that was a holding call..then again I guess it was BS since he gets away with it alot..as do quite a bit of CB's

The Broncos pooped their pants and this one was OVER early. It would take a MIRACLE for Denver to come back in this one:

As of Super Bowl XLVII (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XLVII), only five teams have won after trailing by more than 7 points [2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Super_Bowl_records#cite_note-Historys-2)

Washington Redskins (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Washington_Redskins) against Denver Broncos (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denver_Broncos) in Super Bowl XXII (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXII) (trailed 10-0, won 42-10)
New Orleans Saints (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_Orleans_Saints) against Indianapolis Colts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_Colts) in Super Bowl XLIV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XLIV) (trailed 10-0, won 31-17)
New York Giants (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/New_York_Giants) against Buffalo Bills (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buffalo_Bills) in Super Bowl XXV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XXV) (trailed 12-3, won 20-19)
Indianapolis Colts (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indianapolis_Colts) against Chicago Bears (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago_Bears) in Super Bowl XLI (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_Bowl_XLI) (trailed 14-6, won 29-17)

It was either leave and go home early, or spend the night sleeping on his couch because I was about to start chugging a bottle of Jack Daniels in hopes of passing out. My one thought through this blowout was that Smooth must be losing it.

Denver got their ass handed to them in every department. That was bad karma on the first two plays of the game. Their kick returns were lousy and they start in bad field position right away. Then the bad snap was a horrible play and set the tone for the entire game. I don't think the Broncos expected it to be that loud. With the noise Peyton wasn't doing his usual play changing at the line and he didn't alter the snap count much. The pass rush was all over him all night and he just didn't make the plays. The pick 6 really hurt. Seattle's defense is good but I did not expect that. I guess the "Defense wins Championships" cliche is going to reach epic proportions again.

It wasn't just Peyton though. Their special teams were terrible getting poor returns and giving up a TD. The defense held a bit early and then gave up way too many third down conversions when they needed stops. Seattle didn't even have to do much on offense as Denver kept giving them the ball in great field position or giving up scores on defense or special teams. If I thought Denver could get back in it in the second half that was ruined by the kickoff return to start it! Nail in the coffin right there. Ugly game after that. Denver didn't run the ball and it seemed like Peyton and company struggled just to get small gains. The average gain per play was ugly.

I wonder if Denver will stick to that much shotgun next year? Denver set an NFL record for points this year but they were struggling against Seattle. Maybe they should have switched to some more traditional formations as a changeup? Seattle seemed to know their freaking plays and their zones were killing their receivers. The usual pick plays and Welker underneath could not get going.

Denver couldn't get pressure..which I figured that wouldn't be able to since their main rusher was a 32-yr old in Shaun Phillips. Not sure how much of an impact Von would have made but don't think they touched Russell Wilson all game..not even hurried him except when he rolled out for 5 seconds trying to find someone. Played the run game about as well as they could, just couldn't pressure Wilson.

Their offensive line was pushed around all night. I'm not even sure Seattle blitzed 5 times total. Their Ends were absolutely destroying the Tackles, especially Franklin. Nice luxury when you can get a pass rush without blitzing much.

Denver's tackling was embarrassing. On the kick return. On Kearse's touchdown, On Baldwins touchdown. Just terrible.

Whoever bet that the first points would be a safety and a kickoff return to open the half probably got alot of money.

Haha I apparently missed the back and forth from Chris Carter and Doug Baldwin. Have to ask though

Anybody here think Doug Baldwin is more than an average WR?

What about a #1 or #2 type WR?

Not talking about about in Madden either lol

I think Kearse is better than Baldwin.

Want to read all the texts between Incognito and Martin? Here you go: http://thebiglead.com/2014/02/03/here-are-over-1000-text-messages-that-richie-incognito-and-jonathan-martin-allegedly-exchanged/#sthash.iaP4gxzO.uxfs

I skimmed through a lot of the texts and read the stuff in the last month or so before Martin quit. They both sound like drunken frat boys concerned with partying and chicks. Those texts seemed like friends to me. I didn't see bullying there.

Ted Wells official report probably coming later this week.

Damn are the Seahawks the chirpiest bunch

Now Sherman and Chancellor both said they knew all the Broncos routes and where the ball was going lol. It's nice to be able to play on the back end when you know you have an outstanding pass rush without blitzing.

Ask the Steelers they know better than anyone else what can be done with a great pass rush....and what happens to the secondary when you can't get a rush.

I equate it to Basketball a bit when you know you have a great on-ball defender who can harass and suffocate the ball handler. The others can simply play the passing lanes

It's amazing how loud they can get following a victory.

That's probably what bothered me the most about Sherman's NFC Championship post-game rant. He had all week to air his grievances against Crabtree, but waited until after they won the game. I'm guessing had SEA lost, we'd never know how upset he was about the perceived slights.

Then again we have heard them/him talk alot after losses as well of how it was the refs fault against the Cardinals....and the 49ers in the 2nd meeting.

its the refs fault the Seahawks won games with that dirty defense in the first place LOL

my tin foil hat theory - in short they saw that the Seahawks were number 1 in defense the previous year and made playoffs so to validate the parity theory etc and to get a different team to finally win ne they gave them a little push this time.

come on..with all the new offensive rules they are the only team that can be that effective ?

...that and the fact that they are the most bizarre nike pro football uniforms so they are pushed the forefront of the American conscience

their slogan "I'm In" IE; look, we know you aren't use to doing it this way but if we can get away with it the majority of the time it will benefit us.

...just sayin'..

I honestly felt they DID know their route combos when I watched the game. With 2 weeks to study a shotgun only offense maybe they found tendencies.

Ram guess who the most penalized CB..shit maybe defensive player was this season? Sherman with 11 penalties I believe...and a case could be made for more. Though I know he disagrees with 1 in particular.

Speed is deceptive. If you have great technique, body placement you can get away from having to be flat out fast. Without looking I would bet he's in the 4.5, 4.55 range..which isn't fast when you think about it. Fast is 4.35 and lower to me.

His technique is to jam..hold up his man (literally so I've seen and WR's have said) or prevent him from being able to use his speed. He puts his hands on WR's then never lets them get started. Or he plays off so they can't run past him or it is a man/zone hybrid.

Revis isn't necessarily fast, but his technique and the way he uses his body to either cut off his man or force him to the sideline makes up for guys just being able to flat out run past him.

Without using their hands, both would be smoked by Desean Jackson or alike speed WR's easily.

Rudy

Absolutely correct Skip. Sherman ran a 4.56 at the combine. That fact along with his late transition to CB led him to fall in the draft until the 5th round.
