The only ones I kind of disagree with are the NL East. I think NY and Toronto will be real close and the other gets the wild card. Cleveland falters and finishes 3rd in behind Chicago. I also think Boston will not finish in the cellar, I can see them at 3rd in the East.

As much as it would seem to play out that way I just can't see a World Series repeat.

Here's a question for you. Who's got the best OF in the league?

Angels
Dodgers
Atlanta
Toronto
Washington
Pittsburgh

Left
Trout
Crawford
Upton
Cabrera
Harper
Marte

Center
Bourjos
Kemp
Upton
Rasmus
Span
McCutchen

Right
Hamilton
Ethier
Heyward
Bautista
Werth
Snider

Pittsburgh  hands down. But after that I'd probably go Dodgers, Atlanta, Angels

JBHuskers
02-22-2013, 03:53 PM
:D that's not being a homer at all.

If Trout plays to the level he did in his rookie year, it's the Angels easily. Followed by Atlanta, Washington, Los Angeles.

Marte isn't that proven yet, Snider's potential has been waiting to come out for five years now.

Lol, well obviously

It's definitely a fun debate. Atlanta probably has the most well rounded and if Crawford plays like TB days it would be hard to say they weren't

Rockies have a 3-1 lead through 7 innings, blow it by giving up 3 runs to Milwaukee in the bottom of the 8th, tied it up with a 2 out homer in the top of the 9th, and lose 5-4 in 10 innings. Picking up right where they left off last season. :fp:

Rockies can hit the long ball. They just showed a graphic during the Rockies-Padres game, Colorado has 14 home runs on the road so far this season, most in the NL. Second place team is Atlanta with 7. They have 18 home runs total as a team, second best in all of MLB, behind Oakland who has 19. Love watching them smack out home runs every game.

Alright, that was pretty damn good. :D No, it wasn't me. I wish I was out at some Rockies games. My future goals, move to Colorado and get season tickets for the Broncos and Rockies. For me, that would be living good. No mansions or piles of cash needed. Just a house in Denver and season tickets to two of my favorite sports teams. Already on the season ticket list for the Broncos. Maybe in 8-10 years I'll move up high enough, from #36,315 that I was on the list as of October, to get those season tickets.

What a start by the Rockies this year, currently sitting 13-4 on the season and tied with Atlanta for the best record in baseball right now. Lost in extra innings to Milwaukee on opening day, then won the next 5 games, winning the Milwaukee series and sweeping San Diego. Got swept by San Francisco, then turned around and swept San Diego and the NY Mets (after two postponements because of weather with one of the four games being moved back to mid-June), they've now taken the first two games of the weekend series against Arizona. Since the start of the year, they've lost 1, won 5, lost 3 and won 8.

Hopefully they can stay healthy and keep this going all year. They got off to a similar start in 2011, starting the season 11-2, trading wins and losses after that and then went down the shitter in May. If they can keep it up and not have another shitty May this year, they can be right there at the end. As much as I'd love to say it, I don't think they'll be able to hang with San Francisco the entire year for the NL West title, especially after getting their ass whooped by the Giants back on the 8th, 9th and 10th, but they can at least be right there in the Wild Card hunt at the end of the season if they keep it up.

The A’s and Angels played for 6 1/2 hours Monday night (6:32, to be precise), a record for both teams. The teams combined for 598 pitches. A’s reliever Sean Doolittle sent out this tweet to comment on the marathon:

Journal entry: “its now the 19th inning. we r out of food & water & weve lost 3 men to injury but morale is high. we need to win soon. SOS.”

— Sean Doolittle (@whatwouldDOOdo) April 30, 2013

How long was the game? Wars have been shorter, and marriages. Here are 10 things you could do in the time it took to play the game:

things that are shorter than the A's-Angels game=

10. Drive from Anaheim to Oakland. If you left Anaheim when the game started, you would’ve arrived at the ballgame with 20 minutes to spare. (Depending on traffic, of course.)

8. Play the shortest nine-inning Major League game more than seven times. On Sep. 28, 1919, a game between the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Phillies took 51 minutes. (The Giants won 6-1.)

At the All-Star Break:

AL EAST
- Completely whiffed on Boston.
- Should have trusted my original gut on New York.
- Guess Baltimore is here to stay.

AL CENTRAL
- Spot on for the top three, just flip flop Chicago and Minnesota

AL WEST
- Only real miss was the Angels, but I'm sure that was a miss for everyone after adding Hamilton.

NL EAST
- Atlanta much hotter than expected, everything else fell into place

NL CENTRAL
- Completely whiffed on St. Louis, but had the Pirates right up there.
- Cubs aren't in last place, color me shocked.

NL WEST
- San Francisco is a whiff, Arizona playing better than expected, but there will be a lot of jumbling around in this division.

So long Ryan Braun. Suspended for the rest of the season after cutting a deal with MLB in the Biogenesis investigation to limit his suspension to just 65 games (the rest of this year and any potential postseason games). Sucks if you got him on your fantasy baseball team.

I have a feeling there won't be any postseason games when the Cubs are ahead of them in the standings :D

This is kind of a cop out. They're last in the NL Central. He should be banned another 50 games to start the 2014 season as well.

Oh I know, there will be no postseason games to be worried about. :D

Yeah, I think Braun realized that. All the stories I've read, after the first meeting with MLB, in which he refused to answer their questions, he then knew what kind of evidence and the amount of evidence they had on him, so requested a second meeting and was able to crack a deal to limit the suspension to just the rest of this season.

Now, granted, Braun's a special case with an already tainted past, but if Braun was willing to work out a deal and accept a 65 game suspension that knocks him out the rest of this season, it's not looking good for the 20+ other names on that list.

I saw that on ESPN. :fp:

Milwaukee has since gone into damage control mode, saying that security was in the wrong and welcoming her back for a future game as a guest of the Brewers. If it had been an obscenity, then fine. But fraud? Someone in security (or the Brewers management directing security) created an issue where there never was one.

Today will be the decider between simplicity or a complete and total clusterfuck.

Courtesy of Fox Sports, here are the scenarios for the AL Wild Card:

Here are the scenarios:
If on Sunday ...

Cleveland, Tampa Bay and Texas win OR if all three lose
No. 1 WC: Indians
No. 2 WC: Winner of Rays at Rangers (Monday, 8:07 p.m. ET)
Rangers host because they beat Rays 4-3 in regular-season series.

Cleveland and Tampa Bay win; Texas loses
No. 1 WC: Indians
No. 2 WC: Rays

Cleveland and Texas win; Tampa Bay loses
No. 1 WC: Indians
No. 2 WC: Rangers

Cleveland and Tampa Bay lose; Texas wins
No. 1 WC: Indians
No. 2 WC: Rangers
Indians No. 1 because they beat Rangers 5-1 in regular-season series.

Cleveland and Texas lose; Tampa Bay wins
No. 1 WC: Rays
No. 2 WC: Indians
Rays No. 1 because they beat Indians 4-2 in regular-season series.

NOW THE TRICKY ONE — THE THREE-WAY TIE

Cleveland loses; Tampa Bay and Texas win
Monday: Rays at Indians, 4:07 p.m. ET — winner advances to WC game
Tuesday: Loser of Monday's game at Rangers, 4:07 p.m. ET — winner advances to WC game

How was this format decided?

Because each team split season series against the two others, winning percentage in games among all three was used to determine who had the pick of A) Monday's home game, B) playing on the road twice or C) hosting Tuesday's game.

Cleveland had the first pick with a 7-5 (.583) combined record against Tampa Bay and Texas, so the Indians opted for Monday's home game.

With a 7-6 (.538) combined record vs. the other two, Tampa Bay had the second pick and opted for two chances to win a wild-card berth when it could have decided to host Tuesday's tiebreaker game.

At 5-8 (.385) vs. Cleveland and Tampa Bay, Texas was left with the final spot, which is hosting Tuesday's tiebreaker.

The two winners out of this format will then play the actual AL wild-card game on Wednesday at 8:07 p.m. ET. The team with the better head-to-head record among the two wild cards will host.

Here are the possible matchups:
Indians at Rays
Rangers at Indians
Rays at Rangers

The winner out of this will get to play top-seeded Boston in a best-of-five divisional series. Second-seeded Oakland will face No. 3 seed Detroit, also in a best-of-five setup.

The higher seeds, Boston and Oakland, will host Games 1 and 2 on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5, before hitting the road for Game 3 on Monday, Oct. 7 and a possible Game 4 on Tuesday, Oct. 8. If a series goes the distance, the higher seed will host on Thursday, Oct. 10.

Thinking about picking up Astros season tix either next season or the year after if the wife and I stay in Houston. Obviously, we cannot go to all the games. Anyone know how easy it is to either split tickets up with someone and/or sell the tix online?
