This is OU - Nebraska we are talking about. No rivalry comes close as the majority of the games were played for a Conference Title. Game of the Century, Osborne vs Switzer and Devaney vs Wilkinson.

2021 Husker fans, see you in Norman. That would be the 50th anniversary of the Game of the Century.

You can move this to another thread, just so damn happy to see the rivalry making a comeback.

Better late than never. Osbourne wanted to end his legacy by bringing back the rivalry, I applaud him for that.

and I will probably be worm food, safe from misspelling things in titles of threads since they do not have spell checks. :P

Greatest rivalry? Funny. Maybe it was one of the greats back in the Big 8 days, but it lost any claim to the title when the Big 12 was formed, and they decided that Nebraska and Oklahoma didn't need to play every year. There are a lot of great rivalries in CFB, but Oklahoma vs. Nebraska isn't even in the top 10 anymore.

What's funny is I've never even heard of it being a rivalty so I'm sure it's the greatest.

Hence the TO RETURN. Of course the rivalry became moot when they went to the Big 12. There are tons of great rivalries but the one thing you have to factor in is that in the 80 or so games they played each other, 19 times during this series, one of these two teams have been rated #1. NINETEEN

yeah, but thats when the Good Ol' Boy's network was in full swing. Who knows how manipulated or valid the rankings were?

still a great sports rivalry though

Both bring a tear to my eyes, for different reasons of course. One other factor that made the rivalry so great was that home field advantage was no gimme.

At Lincoln Nebraska leads 22–18
At Norman Oklahoma leads 23–16

Oklahoma-Nebraska is a great rivalry for the simple reason that it's been a ridiculous number of years since it was played annually and is still wistfully talked about by both sides.

However, the absolute without-a-doubt greatest? Pfft.

19 times during this series, one of these two teams have been rated #1. NINETEENAccording to Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nebraska%E2%80%93Oklahoma_football_rivalry), thirteen ;) And "great teams" does not a "great rivalry" make. Several of those involved a #1 team on one side and an unranked team on the other.

Heard of it and don't think it ranks worth listing. Certainly not the "greatest rivalry" or within the same zip code of a relevant rivalry in modern times.

How old are you?

It was one of the biggest rivalries until the Big XII killed it in 1996.

There is a reason why there is one of the games is called Game Of The Century.

There is a reason why there is one of the games is called Game Of The Century.Along with 11 other games, according to Wikipedia. The first of which was Ohio State / Notre Dame, which isn't a rivalry in any way, shape, or form. So, your point? :D

BINGO! Jeff nailed my response. Game of the Century........AHAHAHAHA! More like Game of Twice a Decade is what all of those should be called.

JB, I'm old enough to know that this thread is funny......no, hilarious, that it is the greatest rivalry out there or relevant anymore. That is the point.
