I honestly don't understand the stranglehold the Big Ten must have on ESPN. Some of the game times and broadcast decisions have made zero sense to me. I know the Big Ten has an extremely favorable deal with ESPN, but it must be even more favorable than I knew.

So I came to a realization yesterday. I really don't give a damn about big school college football. There were some great, big time games yesterday at noon, but I instead had no interest at all in any games except Brown/Princeton on NBCSN, and Kent State/Army on CBSSN.

So I'm focusing mainly on the small schools this week. I still have some biggies on there, Ohio State's game, NC-Duke and FSU-Miami, though those are gonna be a secondary "pop in every now and then" games. I'm gonna focus on Penn/Yale at noon, flip back and forth between Indiana/Navy and Rice/Tulsa at 3:30 (though Indiana/Navy will get 95% of my viewing time), and probably spend most of my watching time on Marshall/Southern Miss at 7.

You JUST realized this? :D Nicely done.

:D I meant in terms of watching on TV. I would always watch the big games in the past. The 7 and 8pm games on ABC and ESPN, the afternoon games on ABC and CBS, and ESPECIALLY the rivalry games. But this season, I just haven't cared about those games, especially this past weekend. Any other year in the past, I would have been sitting there watching the Red River Shootout from start to end. Now granted it was an ass whooping by Oklahoma this year, but I just wasn't interested in it whatsoever. I found Kent State/Army and Brown/Princeton much more entertaining to watch yesterday than any other game that was on ABC, ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, FX or FSN.

You should drink the Kool-Aid that is Dri Archer at Kent State. The kind of running I saw from that kid yesterday, good lord. Granted it is Army we're talking about, but the moves that kid made while making 8 different Army defenders either miss him or just plain get their ankles broken by him during one play while I was watching, just abusive.

From College Gameday's Facebook page: We’re heading to Gainesville this Saturday for the South Carolina vs Florida game!

Can’t wait until we get to The Swamp!

I hate the fact we got the CBS 3:30 PM Game. South Carolina has only won one time playing on CBS in that time slot. It was 2010 vs #1 Bama. Other than that one game, we have always stunk up the joint. I hope it isn't a long afternoon for USC.

Edit: Make that two wins. I forgot about the Missouri game from earlier this season.

Though FSU at #8 and #10 in the human polls, and only ranked in ONE computer poll is rather telling.

matt barkley and robert woods set records for :USC: today.

barkley goes 19-20 for 298 yards and 6 td's, setting the pac 10/12 record for most td passes in a career and completion percentage record. he now has 102 td's and counting

woods caught 8 passes for 131 yards and 4 receiving td's. his 220 receptions also set a career reception record for :USC: and became the first USC receiver to have 4 td receptions in one game.

Jeez, Navy pulled that win out of their asses. Down 30-21, scored 10 points in the final 5:30 to edge out the Hoosiers 31-30.

Meanwhile, what a collapse by FIU. :fp: Had a 37-21 lead against Troy in the 3rd quarter, gave up 17 unanswered points to lose 38-37.

And Tulsa pulled one out their asses too, scoring with a minute and a half left to beat Rice 28-24.

SmoothPancakes
10-21-2012, 11:40 AM
The good thing about the win against Indiana yesterday, Navy now looks good to return to a bowl game. They still have tough games against East Carolina, Troy and Army (Army could be 0-11 and will always be tough), and games that should be wins for Navy against Florida Atlantic and Texas State. At worst (which truly would be worst because it would mean Army beat Navy), Navy would go 6-6.

steelerfan

Jeez, Navy pulled that win out of their asses.

Which is, basically, what the Irish have done the last 2 weeks. But, a W is a W. Considering their schedule, I thought 8 wins would be a great season for this team before the year started. With 7 already, I couldn't be happier. This week will provide as tough a test as they've had this year, and I don't expect good results, but the fact that they are 7-0 going to OU is much more than I could have imagined being a "best case scenario" when the season began.

Go Irish!

Kansas State moves up to No. 3

Oregon is unbeaten and second in all the polls, but the Ducks dropped to No. 4 in the new BCS standings released Sunday night.

No. 1 Alabama and No. 2 Florida remain in the top two spots, but Kansas State's move from fourth to No. 3 was the most notable move of the week.

No. 5 Notre Dame and No. 6 LSU stayed in the same spots, while No. 7 Oregon State, No. 8 Oklahoma and No. 9 USC all moved up one spot after South Carolina lost to Florida. The 6-2 Gamecocks fell to No. 13.

Georgia moved up one spot to No. 10.

Oregon's 43-21 win at Arizona State was not enough to keep it in front of the Wildcats, who dismantled West Virginia 55-14. The Mountaineers dropped from No. 13 to No. 19 after the loss.
