Extremely light week for me. Nothing at noon as I am hitting the sack the second I get home from work at 10am. Have to run board for a remote from 2-4pm and then I'm going to be downtown the rest of the afternoon for Rib Fest, part getting out and having some fun and part working.

Judging by last year's Rib Fest I probably won't be home until 8 or 9pm. Granted last year we had a raffle for a car as part of a promotion on one of our stations, and I haven't heard anything like that this year, so not sure what all we might be doing through the radio stations down there. But I'm sure we'll be do something and I'll be working for most of the afternoon and evening nonetheless.

So very, very little football time for me next weekend. I doubt I'll see anything of Ohio State-Michigan State. San Jose State-Navy I'm gonna set to record on my DVR. Tulsa-UAB, I have no clue what's going on with that as it's been listed as TBA all season long, so no clue if they'll end up on ESPN3, on FSN or something.

For anyone with a passing interest in Arkansas State, this game will definitely be the one to watch. We've got WKU at home after them coming off a big win against USM. This game will likely go a long way to determine the conference champion. We beat them last year scoring a touchdown with just 0:43 remaining. It should be a great game and will finally tell us what exactly our team is made of.

It's a shame Tulsa and Southern Miss don't play this year. The way things are going so far, looks like no showdown in the C-USA championship game. Hopefully Tulsa will get some good competition in the title game. :) :P

I think our staff is confused and thinks that if we play bad, we'll get first pick in the high school draft or something. We're going to definitely lose our next 3 games [:Louisville:,:Boise_State:,:UCF:] to start 0-6. We MAY win against :Marshall: the next week which is homecoming but :Marshall: beat us last year and this year's :Southern_Miss: team far inferior to last year's team. We must be on the only school on Earth whose has a QB rotation of 3 FUCKING QUATERBACKS! 3!!!! I thought it was bad when we had indecision with 2 QBs but now we're throwing the 3rd in the mix just muck it up more. The defense can't tackle or cover anyone. This is EASILY the worst :Southern_Miss: team I've ever seen in my life. Usually, a bad year means we're mediocre. The way things are now, I'd LOVE to be mediocre.

Damn, 0-6 definitely isn't out of the question. Those are three tough games coming up, and then the conference sked after that. What the hell happened between last year and this year? I can't believe Southern Miss is having this massive of a fall off in a one year period.

My assessment:

1) Our head coach, Larry Fedora, used last season's 11-2 record to get himself a huge raise and access to resources as the new head coach of North Carolina.

2) Our 4-year starting QB, Austin Davis, is now on the roster of the St. Louis Rams.

3) Anthony Alford. He's the "gem" of our recruiting class. Everyone and their grandmother wanted him but he wanted to play baseball as well (he signed a 3 million dollar contract with the Blue Jays, I think it is). The baseball thing scared all the big dogs away so he fell into our lap. We even hired his high school head coach as our offensive coordinator. The kid has skills. It's obvious when he's on the field but he's not quite ready yet but I think we're trying to keep him happy so he doesn't go play pro baseball or something. So this QB carousel we have is making the offense hella inconsistent. And with the defense taking a step back also, it's just a nightmare.

Serious question... ignore any bias. Should either player be suspended this week for their hit in last week's game?

WKU's Dowling (advance to 0:53) (http://msn.foxsports.com/collegefootball/story/helmet-safety-rules-not-making-players-wimps-wussball-092212)

ASU's Q. Lee (http://www.kait8.com/category/240189/video-landing-page?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=7769600)

WKU Dowling - The guy was a couple yards in the end zone. Stupid play deserved a 15 yard unsportsmanlike injury.

ASU Q. Lee - No, they were both going down at the same time.

Are safety rules wussifying football? Yes!

Oh how far Hawaii has fallen. :smh: Losing to BYU 47-0, only managed 8 first downs, only 108 yards passing, only 148 yards total. What a fall by the Warriors from where they used to be, especially on offense and passing. I would try to watch Hawaii every week, especially on weeknight games, just to watch the passing clinic they'd put on every game.

hawaii needs to go back to its run n shoot or bring in an air raid coach. not just for its tradition, but to get fans in the seats. they need an exciting offense to keep fans interested in the team. a lackluster showing this year, coupled with a boring offense will get fans to lose interest real quick.

Yeah... I didn't want to bring that one up.

About the only teams I would write off to compete for the SBC title would be UNT, USA & FAU... otherwise:
ASU - went 8-0 in conference last year
FIU - struggling without Hilton but today against ULL will give some answers
ULL - Beat Troy already, won 9 games last year
ULM - obviously writing their own story with win over UA and close games against AU & Baylor
Troy - Close loss to Miss St and narrow win over UNT are conflicting... still unsure on them
WKU - since ASU beat them last year, their only two losses have been to LSU & Bama

Quite a few high scorers already today. WVU beats Baylor 70-63. Kent State beat Ball State 45-43, after neither team scored in the 1st quarter. Miami U has a 35-28 halftime lead over Akron. It's 21 all between Tulsa and UAB only two minutes into the second quarter (that one may very well end up in the 40s or 50s), the defenses got left back on the buses apparently.

Aggies looked good today, rained hard at the game, had a great time. Cool THING, prior to kick off I was working my section (user) 236-237 and this guy was walking around with a reallly REALLY nice camera taking pictures. He had an EA hat on and as he walked by me I said, "NICE HAT" he said, "CHEERS MATE"...I didn't think he heard me so I told him again that I liked his hat. He said cool, and that he works for EA as an artist. I told him about the gaming tailgate and how I really enjoy the NCAA series. He said they (EA) came to town on Wednesday and had been taking pictures and getting different images for the NCAA 14 edition. He had a thick accent (English) said his name was Greg, but I couldn't understand his last name. He was very nice and I was excited to see an EA guy at Kyle Field.

Thought that was something cool to share.

Sat, Oct 6 @ #12 Texas

They did play a defense: Maryland, who is #9 in the country in total yards defense, #22 in total yards against the pass, and #16 in total rush yards allowed. I think that, by definition, is a good defense.

Geno had more TDs than incompletions. Poor defense or not, that's an AMAZING stat.

I think Middle Tennessee State realized they have to give Benny Cunningham the ball 20+ times a game. They have a couple of backs really I'd they'd just run the damn ball more they'd be 4-0 and sitting good. Still like where they are headed going forward but I'm also still dumbfounded with why the staff called so many passes in week 1, makes me fear they mess things up again soon :(

Mike Leach and the Cougars are giving the Ducks a test here thus far 23-12 with 6:58 remaining in the second quarter. The Cougars are playing with a lot more emotion the Ducks and have moved the ball rather easy on Oregon Defense.

Oregon starting to take this game over. They opened the second half with a 6+ minute drive for a TD (their longest drive of the year) then followed that up with a pick 6. 37-19 now and they are driving again.

He was very nice and I was excited to see an EA guy at Kyle Field. He wasn't the only one there. Wisey posted last night on Twitter that he was going to midnight yell. Sounds like they sent a decent amount of the crew there today.

A so-so day yesterday. Navy sucked it up horribly. The good new, they held San Jose State to four field goal for the game. The bad news, they didn't do jackshit on offense, managing a grand total of 144 yards (74 passing, 70 rushing) in a 12-0 loss to the Spartans.

Tulsa held on for the win in a shootout with UAB, 49-42. I know those helmets Tulsa wore yesterday, at least, were new, still not sure about the jersey and pants, still haven't been able to get on 360 and check in game. But if that was a new uniform, a nice start with a win in the first time wearing them.

Florida International, ugly, ugly, ugly. Down 17-0 after 1, down 31-14 at halftime, the Ragin' Cajuns had their way with FIU. They are really missing T.Y. Hilton this year.

Not that it mattered much in the game but this is sad to see...

This stuff was happening to PSU for a few years awhile back in the big10. Sure it may not have had an effect but I remember a few plays that actually did matter. I remember Hart getting a first down which shouldn't have been and wasn't close really either.

I'm sure all conferences though take care of their "own".

I didn't know if it was the beer I was drinking by that time of the night, but I was all fired up when I saw that. I paused it and rewound the footage a few times yelling at the tv and asking my wife is I was crazy in what I was seeing? He even dropped the ball and adjusts his grip...that was AMAZING!
