Damn you work, making me sit at work until 9am, then having to drive home (which I won't get home until around 9:45), when Navy-Notre Dame kicks off at 9am. http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx305/SmoothPancakes/Smilies/e133145.gif http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx305/SmoothPancakes/Smilies/e133152.gif http://i766.photobucket.com/albums/xx305/SmoothPancakes/Smilies/e133153.gif

Already got the DVR set to record the game. I'll have to start it from the beginning when I get home and just have to fast forward like a motherfucker at each commercial break to try and catch up with the live broadcast.

I'm also going to have to completely turn my phone off since I get texts for every time a team scores and end of quarter for Navy games from ESPN. I don't want that shit spoiled!

Ok, things just got better for Saturday morning. The local Buffalo Wild Wings contacted one of our stations about doing a live remote starting at 8am specially for the Navy-Notre Dame game. So as soon as I get off work at 9am, I'm jumping in the station van that I drive on Saturday morning (better than using my own gas for a 20 mile drive back and forth every week :D) and hauling ass back to town. I usually get back to town by around 9:25 or so, and Bdubs is right there off the highway, so by 9:30, I'll be sitting inside Buffalo Wild Wings, enjoying some food, and maybe an early beer or 5, and watching Navy-Notre Dame.

#FirstWorldProblems

wat? Why?

Why Bdubs is hosting a special remote on the local radio station at 8am Saturday morning? That, I don't know.

Bdubs doesn't even open until 11am on any given day of the week except for special occasions. Probably because it's the first Saturday of college football, and because Navy-Notre Dame is being played not only Ireland, but also kicking off at 9am. What better way to make some extra money than open the doors early and take advantage of 3 extra hours that a college football game will be on TV?

That, and the hell if I know why, but there seems to be a LOT of Notre Dame fans around this area. It's like my own personal hell around here, everywhere I look, it seems like there's a Notre Dame fan there. :fp: I didn't know NW Ohio even had that many mentally unstable and brain damaged people living around here. ;)

Yeah, Notre Dame seems to have become a pretty popular team around here, unfortunately, lol.

Alright, I've got my list of games to watch this weekend. Not sure how much I'll get to actually watch some Saturday. I'll have been awake since at least 4pm Friday afternoon, up all night due to work, and will be awake Saturday until at least noon due to watching Navy-Notre Dame at Buffalo Wild Wings. Unfortunately, most of the afternoon games may end up skipped due to sleep.

I'm also starting to hate the PAC-12 Network. Two great games that I won't get to watch, Nevada-Cal and San Diego State-Washington.

Here's my watching schedule. Will probably watch the first half of the South Carolina @ Vanderbilt game until it gets blown open, then I might check out UMass @ Connecticut, though I'll probably get bored of it since I'm sure Connecticut will blow them out. REALLY REALLY want to watch Washington State @ BYU, but it would mean I gotta either forgo sleep or call off from work on Friday (will probably be tempted to do).

Friday it's enjoying the big showdown between Boise State and Michigan State (two teams searching for new starting QBs after having two of the best to play at their school ever). Saturday, it's probably up early enough to check out Navy @ Notre Dame though I'm not real sure if I'm going to be getting up that early, then it's enjoying WVU kicking the shit out of Marshall for (hopefully) the final time. Then, it's all Big 12 with a little Alabama vs Michigan action in the middle there.

Sunday, I'm gonna be busy so no college football (really wanted to check out Baylor vs SMU too cause I'm thinking SMU might actually pull off the win, which would be HUGE for them) :(

Yeah, I could deal with missing the Thursday night games, if I could actually watch Boise State-Michigan State. Thanks to work and HS football, not a chance in hell of that happening. I gotta be to work by no later than 6pm to get ready for that night's game, and then it'll be 11 or 11:30pm at the earliest that I'll get home by the time we get all the goddamn scores from other games in the area and record a scoreboard to play on air overnight.

Is it free and they'll just have it on select nights on ESPNU and stuff, or it is pay for access like Red Zone? If it's pay, I doubt we'll see it again beyond tonight. Probably ESPN just giving the masses a taste to try and lure them into subscribing.

Some serious battles going on tonight. UCLA leading Rice by 2. South Carolina and Vandy tied 10-10 at halftime. Central Michigan having major issues, tied with SE Missouri State 24-24 at halftime. Eastern Michigan and Ball State tied at 13 at halftime. UConn only with a 10-0 lead over UMass with 3 left to play in the first half. Mid Tennessee State LOSING to McNeese State 14-6 at halftime.

Now that I think about it, the Goal Line stuff probably will be one week/tonight only. Texas A&M-Louisiana Tech was supposed to be on ESPNU at 7:30 tonight but ended up postponed until October 13th (not sure what the odds of both teams having the exact same open date were), so that left ESPNU with nothing tonight.

Middle Tennessee is down 24-6 to McNeese State... first off, why would you schedule it on a Thursday night if it's not on ESPN, secondly why would you do put it on a Thursday that both Vanderbilt & the Titans are playing home games?

Here's what happens when you do...

I'd say it's a good thing they did schedule it for tonight. The entire nation won't see you lose to McNeese State, and because both them and Vandy are playing at home, 90% of your fans and area residents won't see yo lose to McNeese State.

Well, even though I didn't get to watch it, looks like the Boise State-Michigan State was a great game.

Florida Atlantic sucked it up hard core, needing an early 4th quarter touchdown to beat Wagner 7-3.

And Stanford suddenly having some big trouble with San Jose State, as the Spartans have scored a pair of 3rd quarter TDs to tie it up 17-17 late in the 3rd.

Yeah, it was an incredibly rough game to watch. Even worse sitting at bdubs with two of my bosses, who are both major Notre Dame fans, and also huge, massive dicks when it comes to humor and sports. :fp:

It was a disappointing game today. But, ultimately insignificant, other than the fact that's now one more game Navy's gonna have to win to make a bowl game. At best, beating Notre Dame only comes in 6th place, if that, on Navy's list of goals for the season, so not really a great or damaging loss.

Navy's goals are: #1 Beat Army, #2 Win the Commander-in-Chief's Trophy, #3 Beat Air Force (goes hand in hand with #2), #4 Have a winning season, #5 Bowl game, #6, either something else I'm forgetting or then finally Beat Notre Dame. So while it's a tough loss to swallow, not really too big a deal as far as the season goals are concerned.

Funny how he didn't do shit in the NFL where all that stuff actually MATTERS. Yet, he goes to a school, like USC, where you could have a freakin' monkey recruit 5 :5star: players a year, and, all of a sudden, he's the bee's knees. Funny how that works.

pete carroll and nick saban are/were the same way. whats your point? college players react better to both of those coaches and kiffin's type of style. look at rich rod. he left west virginia to go to michigan, which had way better players and he could attract way better players as well....yet couldnt do shit.

if he was as terrible as everyone thinks that he is, he wouldnt have gotten USC to be in the place that they are right now.

I think that has more to do with the fact that it's USC, and they would still be where they're at right now with a damn monkey as the head coach, than they are thanks to Lane Kiffin.

after PC's last season at SC and lane's first season at SC (9-4, 8-5 respectively), it would have been easy for USC to fall into a period of mediocrity, especially with the sanctions in place, and the "down" atmosphere at USC. there's not many coaches out there who would've been able to turn that around and get a 10-2 season, and be considered a national title contender the next.

oregon state's mike riley was a hot name in USC's coaching search, before he signed his contract extension with oregon state. jack del rio was too. in my mind, USC wouldnt be even close to where they are now, if either of them were at the helm, instead of LFK.

:D Fall into a period of mediocrity, that's a laugh. It's fucking USC, anyone and their dog could be successful at USC. Christ, the fucking recruits practically line up at your doorstep, all you gotta do is not be a dumbass that drives them away.

how do you explain notre dame then? great recruits each and every year. national brand name. yet consistantly under-performs.

That's because they have academic standards that prevent them from taking every :5star: player in the world. Pittsburgh would be a better analogy for what you are trying to say. They get :5star: and :4star: recruits out the wazoo every year, yet do jack shit with them.

All I know is this, if Lane Kiffin doesn't win a MNC this year, he's in SERIOUS hot water.

Sorry MVP I'm going to go against you too. With talent that they have with Barkley, Woods, Lee and probably 3 NFLers on the Oline it's hard to give all of the credit to Kiffin. Oh and let's not forget them signing a pretty big free agent this year :) However, in my eyes his real test will be next year. Barkley will be gone and there isn't much behind him, in terms of experience. I'm assuming Woods will probably go after this year too and probably Graf. Redd might as well. If he has them in the hunt next year, like Saban does pretty much every year then I'll give him the credit.

I know with the sanctions they might not be in the place with talent for an MNC run next year, but should win the Pac-10.

My theory on ND is they don't give coaches enough time. If you look at the pattern over the last couple of years a new coach comes in, wins in his first and second year, struggles in his 3rd and 4th and then gets canned. They never get to get their players and system in place. Obviously there is talent there as the new coach comes in and wins and then while he's in transition getting his recruits and system to gel he gets canned. That and there is tremendous amount of pressure to win at ND.

how does pitt fit my analogy better? their last 5* recruit was 5 years ago in jonathan baldwin. for the last 5 years, they've only signed 1-3 4*'s a year. what has notre dame done in the past 6 years, even though they consistantly land a top 25 class?

regardless if they give em enough time or not, the domers still get a top 25 class year in and year out, whoever the coach is. there's no excuse for being only .500 every year when they're able to land some of the top talent in the country. you can mark it up to just bad coaching altogether. and you pointed it out here.....in my mind, the first couple of years should be the rebuilding years. i'd expect a team to only be average for a couple of years after pulling in a new coach and system. but 3-4 years in, if you're not winning with the talent that you have, you're just a bad coach or have a bad coaching staff.

no, it just means you are more honest. Havent you learned over the last few years that if you dont cheat, you cant have a top ranked football team in NCAA ?
