View Full Version : The Alaska Seawolves Begin FBS Play

lildude39

Alright, I've decided to start all over with a new team. (Any forum administrators can delete my Ohio Tech Polar Bears dynasty just so I don't have so many threads on the site).

I'm beginning this dynasty with a created team, the Alaska Seawolves. I wanted to do something different, so I created a team out of Alaska, just to get away from the norm from the lower 49 states. I'm hoping my Xbox doesn't act up on me again, and that my other created team doesn't cause a big fuss. I will be using the same rules as before in my previous dynasty. Hope you enjoy!

I will be starting off with a cupcake roster. It's a small school in the middle of nowhere, and the onlyy FBS school in Alaska. They will be switching with Ball State, and begin as an FBS Independent.

The University of Alaska Seawolves Get First FBS Win!!

With a national audience and the Game Day crew in attendance, the Seawolves beat Portland State in convincing fashion, 42-3!

After a stalled first drive by the Seawolves, the defense held Portland State on their first drive. From the first play from scrimmage on the Seawolves second drive, running back Toby Mendoza busted up the middle for a 31 yard rush to for Alaska's first touchdown, and the Seawolves never looked back. On the next drive, QB Quentin Arnold hit a sprinting Christian Owen up the seam fro 69 yards and took at 14-0 lead going in to the second quarter.

The next quarter was the same for Portland State, as their offense could not handle the stingy Seawolf D. A 51 yard FG attempt fell well short. A few back and forths from both offenses, and PSU had to punt on their next to final drive of the half. A 35 yard punt to a waiting Mendoza, and Mendoza took it the the house to the tune of a 77 yard touchdown return, his first of 2 for the day!

Alaska wasted no time extending their lead in the second half. On their first drive, Mendoza took the handoff, and took the ball 9 yards for another Seawolf TD! PSU would put their first and only points on the board on the ensuing drive, with a 26 yard field goal. A stalled drive by both team, and Mendoza set an NCAA record for longest punt return with an 84 yard TD return!

Alaska would waste close to 5 minutes of the 4th quarter, driving down the field to provide the icing on the cake, with a 3 yard toss to the outside, for this 3rd rusing TD of the day. The backups for would clean up the mess to finish out the day, as Alaska finished the game with a commanding victory, 42-3.

Wow, just wow. That's all I can say. Haha, just an ugly game from the start. Not really much of a showing in the first game against, what hopes to be a good rivalry. Although, with getting smashed like this, it's got good potential.

I actually exited out of this before I could write up a recap. I think subconsciensly I wanted to get over with it as soon as I could. So don't have much of a recap other than stats. I did get a few pics, so that's a positive haha.

Oh my goodness, I'm just glad this one is finally over. This was a game where I'm ashamed to even say I play the game. I think it would have been more competitive simming the game. My defense was non existant against the pass, as well as the run, as can be seen in the stats. Any deep ball was caught for a TD. Any run up the middle was for a TD. Any turnover I had was returned for a TD. There is no reason to recap this game. Enjoy the stats! Haha. Any sympathy would be greatly appreciated. :fp:

The Seawolves Get Back In To The Win Column!!

Finally, things were clicking in this game! The defense played well against the balanced Buffalo defense, and Toby Mendoza had a great game running the ball.

The game started out slow for the Seawolves. After an opening drive that was ended in a pick, the Bulls marched down the easily in 3 plays to take an opening lead 7-0. It looked like it was going to be another one of those games for the Wolves. The first quarter ended with a few back and forths from each team, as neither team could get any momentum going.

The Bulls increased their lead with a 36 yard McCoy field goal that split the uprights. The Seawolves put up their first points of the day on a 35 yard Simpson field goal. The Bulls got the ball back with a minute left to go, and scored on a 1 yard rush from Hoffman, to put them up 17-3 with 22 seconds left in the half. QB Quentin Arnold led the Seawolves down the field with 18 seconds left, and hit Hackett on a long pass of 40 yards, and then Edwin Small brought the margin to 7 with a last second 34 yard TD in the back of the end zone.

After a 53 yard field goal fell short on the Bulls opening drive of the second half, RB Toby Mendoza took a 4 yard jaunt into the end zone to tie the game up. Buffalo wasted no time taking the lead back with a Hoffman pass to Burns for 29 yards with 3:44 left in the 3rd. Not to be outdone, Alaska drove the field, taking 3:04 off the clock and Mendoza sprinting up the middle to tie the game back up at 24 going into the 4th.

The Bulls received the ball to start the 4th, and hit the right uprights on a 44 yard field goal attempt. On the next drive which took close to 3 minutes off the clock, and some gutsy play calling on a 4th down attempt, backup RB Nehemia Rhoden went up the middle untouched for 3 yards to give Alaska their first lead of the day. Buffalo quickly drove down the field, but an interception by CB Clemens ended the drive. Alaska then pounded the ball on the ground and lined up in the victory formation to seal the game!

Just Not Meant To Be For The Seawolves

The Seawolves were in the driver's seat to win this game, but mistakes ended up hurting them in the end.

The MO for Alaska is to let the opposing offense have a huge gain on their first drive, and this game was no different. On Indiana's first play from scrimmage, QB Roberson hooked up with WR Houston for a 57 yard gain to put them inside the 10. The D would hold them to no points on the drive, as they stuffed IU on a 4th down. UA could not dig themselves out of the hole and went 3 and out. On the ensuing drive, IU would take the lead on a Roberson 16 yard pass to Reed for 6. The rest of the quarter had many back and forths with no one gaining momentum.

Inside the red zone, Alaska looked to tie the game up, until QB Quentin Arnold threw a pick on the 7 yard line to kill the drive. The D would hold the next IU drove and regain the ball, only for Arnold to hand it back to IU. IU scored with 1:46 left in the half on a Roberson 4 yard touchdown to put IU up 14. Alaska would drive down the field with time running out, and Arnold would hook up with WR Edwin Small on a 17 yard toss to get the Wolves back in the game. Alaska would receive the ball first in the second half.

IU would once again take the ball from Arnold on the first drive, but LB Harrington would knock the ball loose and CB Dowdell would recover. Arnold would hit Cornell Dortch on a seam route and Dortch would torch the D for 71 yards to tie the game up. Alaska would force an IU punt, and drive the field to set up a 23 yard field goal attempt for K Simpson to take the lead 17-14. IU would tie the game up with a 23 yard field of their own.

Another IU interception would stop the Wolves' first drive in the 4th, but IU could not capitalize after a 47 yard field game attempt came up short. With the 4th halfway over, Alaska took at chance on fourth down, but was unable to complete a pass attempt. IU would take the lead with a 23 yard field goal. Alaska could not get a first down on their comeback drive, and the game was over.

Alaska wins a nailbiter on Homecoming, become bowl eligble, then the Xbox freezes!!!

So frustrated. I extended my lead by 6 with over a minute left. Toledo drove the field and had 1st and goal from the 3 with 6 seconds. I held them to win the game, then it froze when it cut to the end menu. I will be resimming this game until I win.

Well, apparently I should have thought that out before I simmed. Should have turned autosave off. :bang: Screwed out of a win. On homecoming nonetheless...
