Soccer fans, get ready as we have some brand new information about the new version of your beloved Fifa series. David Rutter, the main producer of Fifa 13, told to everyone that was present at a recent London showcase that FIFA 13 will have 5 major improvements. These 5 improvements are First Touch Control, Player Impact, Complete Dribble, Tactical Free-Kicks and Attacking AI.

One of the first things to do at FIFA 13 was to implement a more realistic ball control. Now it will be more difficult to control a receiving ball with your player. It all depends on the strength, the speed, the ball height and the technical skills of your player to achieve the control of the ball and run with it.

Another feature that got improved is the player impact engine. According to David Rutter, there will be no more unrealistic animations in the players challenges and we can hopefully kiss goodbye to all those awful physics bugs that flooded YouTube. The engine has been optimized and new a set of impact values have been added at the hip and the upper body area.

In FIFA 12 you could dribble just by changing direction. In FIFA 13 this won’t be possible anymore. Moreover, the free-kicks got a new system. Up to three players can now gather around the ball. Players can feint a direct shot and adjust it to a player who comes off the wall. Also, the defense set pieces have been improved.

Last but not least, the offensive Artificial Intelligence got a huge improvement. The CPU-controlled players got better running routes and better guessing options of where you pass the ball. Also the strikers are smarter and move with the offside line of your defenders, waiting to receive the ball and run with it towards your goal post.

Can't wait. I played FIFA here and there, but fully dove into it with 12 thanks to the league and playing with the guys here at TGT.

I'll be looking forward to this dropping, our league has been a huge help in gaining interest.

While I can neither confirm, nor deny, anything in the article above, I can tell you guys that I was invited to participate in an invitation-only webcast today for FIFA 13. The webcast focused solely on the gameplay changes to the upcoming title.

The information I took from that is embargoed until May 15th but starting then, I can tell you guys what I learned, what I saw, and try to answer any questions you may have about the changes.

Love the gameplay of FIFA 12. I would love to see an expansion of the immersion for 13. Things such as being able to pick your friendlies and play as your youth squads would be awesome additions.

Absolutely cannot wait to dig into 13!

I just played the POS, ooooops - PES, demo and it didn't change my mind or make me consider 2 football titles. While PES was a bit better than I expected, not better than FIFA, imo.

Out of curiosity what did you like/dislike?

I only played one match and I didn't know all of the controls, but the gameplay didn't seem as arcady as I'd heard. Granted, if I'd mastered the controls, I might say otherwise. I thought that the crosses felt better than in FIFA. They seemed to be directed to open space more often which led to more competition for possession. In FIFA, 90% of the time, my crosses go straight to a defender.

The player models look awful, compared to FIFA. I'm not sure I'd enjoy the camera angles over the long term and that Konami music would make me insane. It sounds like I'm playing on a NES.

Not having commentary in the demo (surely it's in retail) is a bummer too. It is a positive, from what I believed previously, that they have real players/names, however not having club licensing would piss me off no matter how good the game is modded by the kit dorks.
