:smh:

No fuckin' way WVU should still be getting top 25 votes. Our defense plays like a fuckin' junior varsity squad. It's sickening to watch them struggle to stop shitty teams. If we don't have a MAJOR influx of talent before 2012, we're FUCKED in the Big XII.

morsdraconis

God damn it, these fuckin' polls piss me off. I swear to fuckin' god if Alabama gets in the MNC game after getting beaten by a horribly inept offense like LSU, I'm gonna be pissed. Fuck I hate college football's lame ass attempts at determining a National Champion.

And Nebraska still in the top 25 is total bullshit. Losing to fuckin' Northwestern does not mean you are still a top 25 team. I don't give a shit how good people think Northwestern MIGHT have been earlier in the season, they were 3-5 (1-4) before that game. That's bullshit.

SmoothPancakes

I was about to say the same thing. Granted it was an overtime game with only a 3 point difference, but the offenses still sucked ass and Alabama still lost. When Wisconsin lost, they dropped from 4th to 12 (6th to 15th in the BCS). When Oklahoma lost, they dropped from 3rd to 11th (3rd to 9th in the BCS). When Clemson lost, they dropped from 6th to 11th (5th to 11th in the BCS). Alabama loses and they drop from 2nd to 4th (2nd to 3rd in the BCS). Absolute bullshit. They really will do anything to set up a LSU-Alabama rematch in the BCS NC game.

If we end up with a LSU-Alabama rematch in the NC game, especially if there's an undefeated Stanford or Boise State (I think Oklahoma will knock out Oklahoma State), then I am calling absolute bullshit and will never watch or attend another NCAA football game until this bullshit system (and these bullshit fucking hacks that create and vote in these polls) are all fucking tossed from existence.

And Boise State keeps getting fucked over, first with Wisconsin jumping them (and knocking them down to 5th the BCS) back in week 6, then when they finally overtake Wisconsin again in week 8, Oklahoma State goes and jumps them. They get back up to 4th in week 9 when Wisconsin loses, only to have Stanford jump them the next week. They refuse to even let Boise State have a chance at the NC game, putting every team in front of them that they can each week.

What REALLY sucks for Boise State was last year was the year for them. I seriously doubt any team in another BCS game could have beaten Boise State last year, but they blew it against Nevada (more specifically, their kicker blew it). Unfortunately, for them, their defense is pretty terrible this year, but, again, they should have the chance for it if everyone else ends up losing or even there is just one other no-loss team. This hypocrisy that is the current way of determining a championship game is just utter bullshit and it's infuriating to see good teams that deserve a chance get fucked out of it.

I swear, I'd be willing to bet this is going to be the first time ever that a team has been ranked in the top 5 at the beginning of the season, won every game in the season, and won't make it to the National Title. It's the most rigged system I've ever seen (besides American politics, that is).

SmoothPancakes

I'd go so far as to state right now, that even if every single current undefeated team, other than Boise State, loses, they'll still find a way to put and keep two 1-loss teams in front of an undefeated Boise State so they'll keep the Broncos out of the title game.

I wouldn't doubt it at all man. It's what happened to Utah and Boise State in 2008. Both got TOTALLY fucked out of the MNC game by 1 lose teams, nevermind the fact that both went undefeated. In the case of Utah, they beat the same amount of ranked teams that Florida had played that year (which destroyed the whole bullshit Strength of Schedule argument), but, guess who got to play in the MNC game? The Tebow hype machine was in full swing at that point. But, that season was a total clusterfuck.

Look at Alabama's ranking. They dropped 1 spot in the polls after getting TROUNCED in the BCS Bowl against Utah 31-17. ONE FUCKIN' SPOT!

What's really fuckin' golden about it all? The week before the end of the season, they lost in the SEC Championship Game to Florida, 31-20. Again, not a close game at all. Guess what, Alabama dropped to 4th. Guess where Boise State and Utah were in that poll (who, mind you, were both still undefeated at that point and finished with their seasons at that point) 9th and 7th respectively. Utah, again, who had beaten their fair share of ranked teams during their season, got completely snubbed by SEC elitism.

But, no, there shouldn't be a playoff at all. Nope, never! :bang:

The Penn St fans have been a bit quite lately. I have seen some good titles for the upcoming matchup.

Personal fav
Judas (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncaa/news/story?id=5276551) vs Sodom and Gomorrah (http://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2011/11/06/sports/ncaafootball/20111106-pennstate-document.html?ref=ncaafootball)

Gotta roll with the Huskers on this one, the stuff that happened at Penn St is something you would see out of pretty much any episode of Law and Order that features the Catholic Church.

UL Lafayette vs Arkansas State for all the Sun Belt marbles. ULL is already pretty much guaranteed the New Orleans Bowl but if there is a 3-way tie (between ULL, ASU & WKU), then there would still be a chance ASU would be left out in the cold come bowl season (despite us currently having 7 wins). If we win out, then obviously we control everything and finish 10-2 (we've never won 7 games in a season this stint in FBS/highest division). For some reason it's not currently scheduled to be on TV (I can't imagine the SBC network wouldn't put this one on) but it will be on ESPN3 at 2pm CT for anyone interested in watching.

So it's official, the MAC does not play defense. Good lord. Last week Northern Illinois beats Toledo 63-60. Last night, Toledo beats Western Michigan 66-63. That's a 126 points in two games scored by Toledo, and 126 points in two games scored against Toledo.

Despite paying for the sports tier, no Versus (or CBS Sports Network) here.

NB - That does stink. Usually if a team goes undefeated in their division they will at least back into the title game.

In that game, Maryland will be wearing their "Pride" uniforms.....the state flag unis they wore in the season opener vs. Miami. That game will be quite colorful.

EDIT - Notre Dame's helmet/uni would look fine if the shade of green on the shamrock and jersey matched. Instead, it looks like they used some cheap left over St. Patrick's Day stickers.

Arkansas State knocks off UL Lafayette to go to 8-2 (6-0) on the year. We still have games against Middle Tennessee and Troy. If we win one of those, we're pretty much guaranteed the conference title (though wouldn't be upset if WKU lost another SBC game).

Barring a miracle, it'll be LSU and Okie State in the driver's seat for the MNC with an Oklahoma win setting up an LSU-Bama rematch for the MNC.

stanford has completely fallen apart these last 4 minutes with 3 straight turnovers.

OU/OSU is starting to look like The Game of the Year Part Two, The Bizzaro Extended Offense remix. More points will be scored before the first penalty flag is thrown then you had in the whole LSU/Bama game, including OT.

BCS Should look like this tomorrow (sorry to see you go Stanford/Boise)

1. LSU
2. Okie St
3. Alabama
4. Oklahoma but with the big win Oregon my jump them

Stanford and Oregon should both be ahead of Oklahoma based on who they've each lost to. They won't be though.

Oregon I can agree with to a point, Stanford nope. SOS for Stanford is really bad. OU has a TOP 10 SOS, so I can understand why they would end up 4th. Also, and it is not something people like, the earlier you lose the better.

Great. Thanks a fucking lot Boise and Stanford. Now you assholes have just guaranteed us a rematch of LSU-Alabama. It doesn't matter what the hell Oklahoma State does, they don't play in the SEC, so they'll eventually get jumped by Alabama before the season is over. :fp:

Wrong.

Oregon 4th, Stanford 7th, OU 12th.

That's just all conjecture though. Strength of schedule is REALLY dumb in college football because there's no true way to know whether or not a team is actually as strong as they indicate. Strength of schedule indicated that Oklahoma should have wiped the floor with WVU in the Orange Bowl in 2008, but they didn't. Strength of schedule is just more elitist nonsense by SEC and Big 12 schools and Pac 12 schools always get lumped up there because everyone thinks they're good, even when they aren't.

Strength of schedule is only halfway good for NFL football, because of the parity that the NFL has that no other sport has (and, even then, you have weird stuff like Buffalo, Cincinnati, and San Francisco beating teams that they shouldn't because they play more like a team than other teams do) and, even then, it's thrown out the window most times (aka "any given Sunday").

Understood, mors. I was simply replying to the assertion that OU had a "top 10" SOS (they don't) and that their SOS is superior to that of Stanford and Oregon (it isn't).

For me, I can simply put OU last among those 3 because Oregon's loss came to LSU, Stanford lost to Oregon, and OU lost to lowly TTU.

If OU wins out (and handles Ok St), I may change my tune, but not at this point.

I think the Tom O'Brien era may be coming to a close at NC State. He shouldn't have left BC IMHO.
Same here they have some good players but they cant get anything done under O'Brien.

No I was correct. Go to the little date thing, change it to 11/12 or look at last.

OU was #9
Oregon was #19
Stanford was #26

I am many things, psychic is not one of them.

Meh. "Was" is the operative word.

Regardless, for me, if you lose to Texas Tech, you don't deserve to be in any top 5 discussion.

Well thankfully you are neither a computer or a pollster who has any impact on my beloved Sooners.

You're right. If I were, I wouldn't let the fact that they were so highly rated in the preseason keep me from dropping them for losing to such a shitty opponent. You definitely have the system working for you.
