From Stick Skills: (http://stickskills.com/2011/10/18/ea-sports-nfl-blitz-title-confirmed/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=ea-sports-nfl-blitz-title-confirmed)

While the rumors have been circulating for close to a year now, it appears that NFL Blitz will be launching in some form or another. If you don’t remember the title, or never had the chance to play it, you missed out on one of the greatest arcade football titles that has ever launched.

A Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/pages/EA-Sports-NFL-Blitz/190825954327868?sk=wall) has popped up for EA SPORTS NFL Blitz, all but confirming the title’s existence. While there isn’t any information in regards to the title just yet, it does appear that it should receive an official announcement shortly. Whether it’s hitting mobile or consoles in the form of an arcade title, color us interested.

EGM Now has a hands-on preview up too. (http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/hands-on-nfl-blitz/)

From EGM Now: (http://www.egmnow.com/articles/news/hands-on-nfl-blitz/)

Even with all the safety precautions in the modern NFL, it’s usually the most brutal moments that permeate our collective memories. Whether we’re thinking back to fullback Jon Ritchie’s perpetually bloodied forehead or Hall of Fame linebacker Lawrence Taylor’s infamous leg-breaking hit on Joe Theismann on Monday Night Football, it’s this gridiron grit that draws us into the game. Of course, no one wants to really see anyone get hurt—except me, ’cause I’m sadistic like that—so what if we could get all the bone-crushing hits without anyone actually having their bones crushed? Well, it looks like a reinvigorated blast from the past may just have that fix we’ve all been waiting for.

The new NFL Blitz looks to return the franchise to its arcade roots, and from what we’ve seen based on our hands-on time, it looks like this was an easy score for EA. Aside from 30-yard first downs and 2-minute quarters, you’ll see post-play elbow drops, players launching themselves across the field like missiles to make unbelievable tackles, and guys just getting the ever-loving stuffing beaten out of them without a single yellow penalty flag in sight. Of course, the guys at developer EA Tiburon (the same folks behind Madden) are also offering some gameplay upgrades, like the collision system and each team getting their own individualized special play on offense in the universal playbook—like my New York Giants’ “Big Apple” play. It’s all part of the new experience that is NFL Blitz.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs9oqNLtBY4&feature=player_embedded

And that’s really what NFL Blitz is stressing this time around—the experience. With elements like the pregame fanfare and Blue Angels flyovers, along with legendary NBA Jam announcer Tim Kitzrow coming onboard to do play-by-play, the over-the-top arcade feel carries over into every aspect of the game. So, even when you’re not pressing buttons or “on fire,” you still get the feel of Blitz, even in the menus.

Speaking of menus, this definitely ain’t your daddy’s Blitz, because this new version includes countless game modes beyond your standard exhibition—and the biggest change probably starts with the customization features. We all like to play with our favorite teams, but we’re also probably painfully aware that many of them have at least one—if not several—deficiencies at key skill positions. Now, by earning Blitz Bucks via playing online or in Blitz Gauntlet mode (more on that in a bit), you can buy packs of football cards that feature cheerleader loading screens, cheats for classic features like Big Head mode, power-ups for online versus (again, more on that shortly), or actual players. Once you get a card of a player you’re looking for, you can go buy them and add them to a customized roster. Want Megatron—spectacular Detroit Lions wideout Calvin Johnson, for those of you not up on your football nicknames—to play in Chicago? Want punishing Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher to play on the Bengals? Or how about Colts QB Peyton Manning (pre-neck injury) to play for the Giants instead of brother Eli? You can carry this roster customization through every other mode, which really helps even the odds against some of your tougher opponents—or when taking on the Gauntlet.

http://www.egmnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/Gauntlet_638.jpg

So, I’ve mentioned Blitz Gauntlet a couple of times now, but what is it, you ask? Well, some old-school wrestling fans might know that a Gauntlet match is when one grappler has to take on all comers in several consecutive matches without stopping. In that vein, Blitz Gauntlet sees you taking on several teams in a row without stopping. The further you go, the more Blitz Bucks you can acquire to buy football packs. Beating Blitz Gauntlet is also how you unlock the special character teams you might remember from old-school Blitz—as well as a few new ones thrown in for good measure. Zombies, Spartans, Hot Dogs, Lions (as in actual lions, not the ones in Detroit), Bigfoot, and more will be available in your exhibition modes if you clear Gauntlet enough times.

But NFL Blitz’s biggest addition may well be its online versus modes and all their various nuances. The draw for many fans of the original Blitz was the competition factor—and being able to brag to your buddy about how awesome that last touchdown you scored was, or that he needs to get his crappy offense out of your house, because they’re not scoring in your end zone today, no way, no how. With the new versus online modes in NFL Blitz, you can talk trash across the country—or, if you’d prefer, join a regional league broken down by state. The leagues offer various competency tiers as well, so you can advance or regress in different divisions based on your skill level.

http://www.egmnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/EliteLeague638.jpg

Another interesting versus-mode wrinkle: the Mario Kart–like power-ups that you can choose to include in the on-field action, such as speed boosts for that extra “oomph” after your turbo bar runs out. Much like your player cards, these come in card packs—and you can play several at a time if you wish or stockpile them for those really high-ranking opponents. If you’re not much of a smack-talker but still love to win something for beating your competition, versus mode also includes an option to risk the cards you currently have in your collection. Lose, and watch as your online opponent sifts through your collection and takes your favorite power-ups or a key running back. Win, and maybe fill that void you’ve had at strong safety by picking your opponent’s pocket.

All in all, NFL Blitz looks to be back and be bigger than ever—and just in time for the real-life NFL playoffs. So, let the smack-talking commence.

I hope it's an arcade. The interface looks a lot like the one they used on this year's NBA Jam. If they release this for $15 or $20 over Live, I'll be happy as a school girl. Some of my fondest memories were playing this game when I was still in grade school and junior high.

Well it is about time. This gameplay will be ten times better then Madden ha.I also enjoyed the hell out of this game back when it was a hit.Just tackling and an airing it out all over the field was fun. This is where Tebow will shine in NFL Blitz. When is this sucker suppose to launch?

Retail Game = NO

There go my hopes for a college basketball game. Come on 2Ksports, bring CH back.

What really sucks is that out of all these Midway games the best game is being completely ignored.

NBA Jam was $49.95 Retail for the Wii when it came out. If this is a retail game, I would not put it past EA. Just wait for the sales to fail and in 2012 enjoy the NFL Blitz: We should have learned from our mistake and stuck this on PSN/XBL at a reasonable price edition.

Yeah I'm going to wait for the official announcement from the proverbial horse's mouth on if it is retail or downloadable. Unless the retail price point is $29.99, I really don't see how they could be going down that same route again.

Did a February 14th, 2012 release date actually get announced? I'm finding it a bit difficult to imagine that the game would launch on the same day as another EA SPORTS title, SSX.

Based on the Countdown to Blitz (http://www.ea.com/nfl-blitz/1/countdown-to-blitz) page on the game's official site, it looks like an early January release date is planned. Week 12 of the Countdown to Blitz says "01/02 NFL Blitz has arrived". January 2nd is a Monday--not the usual day that XBLA and PSN games get updated--but it is also the first day after Week 17 of the NFL season. What better time to release a game like NFL Blitz than the week of the first round of the playoffs when interest in the league is beginning to go even higher?

EDIT
Here's the placeholder text when you click on Week 12 of the Countdown to Blitz right now:

Week 12: NFL Blitz Has Arrived
Check out what the world has to say about the all-new NFL Blitz!

More Information Coming January 3!

January 3rd, obviously, is a Tuesday; the typical XBLA/PSN update day. This may very well be the release date.

From Pasta:

EA Sports’ reboot of NFL Blitz now has a confirmed date for its arrival on XBLA and PSN. The digital-download offering will release on Tuesday January 4th for both the Xbox 360 and PS3 for 1200 MS points or the equivalent $15.

Over the weekend Ray Rice won the vote to be the digital cover athlete. Buzz on the game has been positive – and the various modes included sound as though they’ll provide good value – but the NFL nixing late hits has seemed to wear down anticipation levels considerably ever since it was first discussed following the game’s announcement.

Yeah, because people who buy the game are really going to care whether or not the actual NFL is going to allow vicious style hits in real life football. Don't think so.

I'll be getting it for sure, though. I just hope it's more along the qualities of the older games rather than that of the more recent titles in the series, like the League.

The flame-inducing, 7-on-7 gridiron slugfest known as "NFL Blitz" is hitting Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network on January 4. And while the remake uses the exact same playbooks of the classic arcade game, the rosters have been updated to include current NFL stars.

But since the game only features seven players on each side of the ball, EA Sports had to make some tough decisions when making the final roster cuts.

ESPN's Gamer Blog will be revealing these rosters exclusively, breaking down one division per day and wrapping everything up before the holidays so you can already have a strategy in mind once the game drops in 2012.

We kick things off with the NFC East:

DALLAS COWBOYS

For those not familiar with the "NFL Blitz" franchise, the game is built on speed, jump catches, and mobile quarterbacks. The Cowboys offer all of this with a strong-armed Tony Romo, a receiver who can fly in Miles Austin, DeMarcus Ware chasing down the ball from all over the field, and a blazing-fast running back in Felix Jones. I would've rather had DeMarco Murray in the backfield, but in terms of "NFL Blitz," Jones features that video-game speed you're looking for. The absence of Dez Bryant hurts this roster, though, as he is the perfect big-bodied receiver "Blitz" gamers like to throw to downfield.

OFFENSE:
•Tony Romo: QB
•Felix Jones: RB
•Doug Free: OT
•Tyron Smith: OT
•Phil Costa: C
•Jason Witten: TE
•Miles Austin: WR

DEFENSE:
•Kenyon Coleman: DE
•Marcus Spears: DE
•Gerald Sensabaugh: S
•Mike Jenkins: CB
•Jay Ratliff: DT
•Terence Newman: CB
•DeMarcus Ware: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•David Buehler: K
•Matt McBriar: P

NEW YORK GIANTS

This looks like one of those teams that is better in real life than the video game. The lack of Victor Cruz and Jason Pierre-Paul doesn't help, but if the defense can create pressure and force a few turnovers, Eli has the accuracy to hit his targets downfield for points.

OFFENSE:
•Eli Manning: QB
•Ahmad Bradshaw: RB
•Mario Manningham: WR
•Hakeem Nicks: WR
•William Beatty: OT
•David Baas: C
•Kareem McKenzie: OT

DEFENSE:
•Justin Tuck: DE
•Osi Umenyiora: DE
•Aaron Ross: CB
•Antrel Rolle: S
•Corey Webster: CB
•Michael Boley: LB
•Chris Canty: DT

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Steve Weatherford: P
•Lawrence Tynes: K

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

I just mentioned how the G-Men are a better team in reality than in video games, but the Eagles are the complete opposite as their insane speed will make them one of, if not the most used team in "Blitz." Michael Vick's ability to scramble away from pressure and take off down field will remind old arcade fans of playing as the Steelers with Kordell Stewart. "Slash" was pretty much unstoppable running the ball in the game, and Vick should be the same, not to mention, featuring a much stronger arm. I might have to outlaw this team under house rules.

OFFENSE:
•Michael Vick: QB
•LeSean McCoy: RB
•DeSean Jackson: WR
•Jeremy Maclin: WR
•Jason Peters: OT
•Todd Heremans: OT
•Jason Kelce: C

DEFENSE:
•Jason Babin: DE
•Trent Cole: DE
•Moise Fokou: LB
•Jarrad Page: S
•Mike Patterson: DT
•Asante Samuel: CB
•Nnamdi Asomugha: CB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Chas Henry: P
•Alex Henery: K

WASHINGTON REDSKINS

John Beck as the quarterback is the most surprising to me as Rex Grossman has that boom-or-bust ability to make any video game entertaining. Roy Helu's omission is also disappointing, as he has quickly become one of the more exciting rookies in the league.

OFFENSE:
•John Beck: QB
•Tim Hightower: RB
•Santana Moss: WR
•Chris Cooley: TE
•Trent Wiliams: OT
•Jammal Brown: OT
•Will Montgomery: C

DEFENSE:
•Adam Carriker: DE
•Stephen Bowen: DE
•Barry Cofield: DT
•Josh Wilson: CB
•DeAngelo Hall: CB
•OJ Atogwe: S
•London Fletcher: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Sav Rocca: P
•Graham Gano: K

NFL Blitz Roster Reveal: NFC North

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/1208/vg_north_1_576.jpg

Aaron Rodgers is on fire. Scary thought for virtual defenses everywhere as Rodgers drops back in "NFL Blitz" and throws a scorcher downfield to a leaping Greg Jennings. Unstoppable? Pretty much. Then again, when you're the defending champs (and currently undefeated), maybe that's just how you roll.

But the Packers are just one of the rosters revealed exclusively today on ESPN, as we break down all of the lineups that gamers will be able to play as once "NFL Blitz" hits the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network January 4.

And in case you missed yesterday's reveal, checkout the NFC East lineups from yesterday. If anyone can stop the Packers in "Blitz," it might just be those virtual Eagles.

CHICAGO BEARS
The more I look at the Bears "Blitz" lineup, the more I love it. Jay Cutler has a cannon, Knox and Hester are two of the fastest receivers in the game, Matt Forte is great out of the backfield catching passes, and that defense can really smack some people around and create havoc (and turnovers!). Definitely a must-play team for "Blitz" fans.

OFFENSE:
•Jay Cutler: QB
•Matt Forte: RB
•Devin Hester: WR
•Johnny Knox: WR
•Gabe Carimi: OT
•J'Marcus Webb: OT
•Roberto Garza: C

DEFENSE:
•Israel Idonije: DE
•Julius Peppers: DE
•Tim Jennings: CB
•Charles Tillman: CB
•Anthony Adams: DT
•Chris Harris: S
•Brian Urlacher: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Adam Podlesh: P
•Robbie Gould: K

DETROIT LIONS
At a recent "NFL Blitz" preview event, this is the team I played as most, and nobody even came close to beating me. Sure, I have some of those old-school "Blitz" skills, but in the Lions, you also have one of the biggest, baddest weapons in the game, and he goes by the name Calvin Johnson. Basically, throw the ball up, and Megatron will out-jump the defense, holding on to the rock even after the hardest hit. But that's not all as Johnson also possesses the speed to get behind the defense on just about any play. Then once your opponent focuses on stopping Johnson, put the back in motion and send him to the opposite side of the field and all of a sudden you have the lightning-fast Jahvid Best running wild and free for the score.

OFFENSE:
•Matthew Stafford: QB
•Jahvid Best: RB
•Calvin Johnson: WR
•Brandon Pettigrew: TE
•Jeff Backus: OT
•Gosder Cherilus: OT
•Dominic Raiola: C

DEFENSE:
•Cliff Avril: DE
•Kyle Vanden Bosch: DE
•Ndamukong Suh: DT
•Eric Wright: CB
•Chris Houston: CB
•Louis Delmas: S
•Stephen Tulloch: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Ryan Donahue: P
•Jason Hanson: K

GREEN BAY PACKERS
If I have one gripe about the roster, it's the lack of Jordy Nelson. In a game like "Blitz," the big tight end who can catch the ball over the middle of the field is a valuable weapon, but just imagine if you replaced Finley with Nelson. The speed out on the field would be almost impossible to match-up with for defenses trying to cover the two receivers. Other than that, this team is money on both sides of the ball, especially with Matthews getting sacks and Woodson out in the secondary picking off passes.

OFFENSE:
•Aaron Rodgers: QB
•Ryan Grant: RB
•Greg Jennings: WR
•Jermichael Finley: TE
•Chad Clifton: OT
•Bryan Bulaga: OT
•Scott Wells: C

DEFENSE:
•Ryan Pickett: DE
•Mike Neal: DE
•B.J. Raji: DT
•Tramon Williams: CB
•Charles Woodson: CB
•Nick Collins: S
•Clay Matthews: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Mason Crosby: K
•Tim Masthay: P

MINNESOTA VIKINGS
Anyone who plays "Madden" knows that Adrian Peterson is a player born to be a video game character. Throw in Percy Harvin and you have an offense that can uses some of "Blitz's" lateral plays to frustrate opponents.

OFFENSE:
•Christian Ponder: QB
•Adrian Peterson: RB
•Percy Harvin: WR
•Visanthe Shiancoe: TE
•Charlie Johnson: OT
•Phil Loadholt: OT
•John Sullivan: C

DEFENSE:
•Brian Robison: DE
•Jared Allen: DE
•Cedric Griffin: CB
•Antoine Winfield: CB
•Kevin Williams: DT
•Husain Abdullah: S
•Chad Greenway: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Chris Kluwe: P
•Ryan Longwell: K

'NFL Blitz' Roster Reveal: NFC South.

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/1208/vg_south_2_576.jpg

Roddy White and the Falcons should be a force in the new "NFL Blitz."

Roddy White might have lost out on the cover vote, but the Falcons are still looking like one of the better "Blitz" teams out there. Michael Turner can bowl defenders over, Tony Gonzalez is a monster over the middle, Matty Ice is throwing virtual darts out there, and White is a threat to take any catch to the house.

But are they better than the Saints?

Talk about a "Blitz" battle with some explosive firepower.

Check below for the full lineups for the NFC South teams, and in case you missed it, be sure to go back and see who made the cut in the NFC East and NFC North.

January 4 can't come soon enough.

ATLANTA FALCONS

While the Falcons have a lot of things going for them on offense, this is one of those cases where I wish "Blitz" had a bench player who you could swap in for certain plays. If the game had a "wildcard" like that, I'd want him to be Julio Jones. I understand why they put future Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez in the game instead of the rookie, but I think when EA goes back to the drawing board for "NFL Blitz 2013," this idea of an extra player you could sub in on certain plays (or maybe at halftime like "NBA Jam"), might be something they can look into.

OFFENSE:
•Matt Ryan: QB
•Michael Turner: RB
•Roddy White: WR
•Tony Gonzalez: TE
•Sam Baker: OT
•Tyson Clabo: OT
•Todd McClure: C

DEFENSE:
•Ray Edwards: DE
•John Abraham: DE
•William Moore: S
•Brent Grimes: CB
•Dunta Robinson: CB
•Corey Peters: DT
•Curtis Lofton: LB

Special Teams:
•Matt Bosher: P
•Matt Bryant: K

CAROLINA PANTHERS

If there was ever a player designed specifically for a video game, it's Cam Newton. If there was ever a player designed specifically for a video game, it's Cam Newton. So many times in "Blitz," I end up sending receivers deep just so I can clear space for a quarterback who can run, and with Newton, I have a QB who has speed, who can make any throw, not to mention, run over a few defenders on the way. Cam, by himself, makes the Panthers a must-try team in the game.

OFFENSE:
•Cam Newton: QB
•DeAngelo Williams: RB
•Steve Smith: WR
•Jeremy SHockey: TE
•Jordan Gross: OT
•Jeff Otah: OT
•Ryan Kalil: C

DEFENSE:
•Charles Johnson: DE
•Greg Hardy: DE
•Sione Fua: DT
•Captain Munnerlyn: CB
•Chris Gamble: CB
•Charles Godfrey: S
•Jon Beason: LB

Special Teams:
•Jason Baker: P
•Olindo Mare: K

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

To me, this Saints lineup really leaves me scratching my head and wondering what could've been. I know, I know, any team with Drew Brees and Marques Colston is still going to be able to put up good numbers with the jump catch, but the absence of Darren Sproles (video-game speed!) and Jimmy Graham (can anyone cover this guy?), really takes the team down a notch. Still good, just not as great as they could've been.

OFFENSE:
•Drew Brees: QB
•Pierre Thomas: RB
•Lance Moore: WR
•Marques Colston: WR
•Jermon Bushrad: OT
•Zach Strief: OT
•Olin Kreutz: C

DEFENSE:
•Sedrick Ellis: DT
•Will Smith: DE
•Aubrayo Franklin: DT
•Roman Harper: S
•Jabari Greer: CB
•Tracy Porter: CB
•Jonathan Vilma: LB

Special Teams:
•Thomas Morstead: P
•John Kasay: K

TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

This is a team that might be struggling in real life, but in the world of NFL Blitz, can definitely get you some wins. LeGarrette Blount is a video-game beast, running over defenders at will and forcing opponents to look run. Then, just as they're expecting another pitch or screen to Blount, roll Freeman the opposite direction and hit Mike Williams deep or Kellen Winslow flashing open across the middle for a big gain.

OFFENSE:
•Josh Freeman: QB
•LeGarrette Blount: RB
•Mike Williams: WR
•Kellen Winslow: TE
•Donald Penn: OT
•Jeremy Trueblood: OT
•Jeff Faine: C

DEFENSE:
•Michael Bennett: DE
•Adrian Clayborn: DE
•Gerald McCoy: DT
•Aqib Talib: CB
•Ronde Barber: CB
•Sean Jones: S
• Geno Hayes: LB

Special Teams:
• Michael Koenen: P

'NFL Blitz' Roster Reveal: NFC West

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/1219/vg_west_1_576.jpg

ESPN started the "NFL Blitz" roster reveal last week with the lineups for every team in the NFC East, NFC South, and NFC North. Today, we continue our look with the NFC West players who will catch fire once EA Sports' arcade revival hits the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network January 4.

ARIZONA CARDINALS

If you're looking for an exciting "Blitz" team that will throw your buddies off, check out this Cardinals lineup. While everyone is going to be picking the Packers or Eagles to start out with, the Cardinals are one of those teams you could pretend to pick at "random," knowing full well the damage you're about to inflict as you run up and down the field with playmakers like Larry Fitzgerald and Patrick Peterson. Definitely a fun sleeper team.

OFFENSE:
•Kevin Kolb: QB
•Beanie Wells: RB
•Larry Fitzgerald: WR
•Todd Heap: TE
•Levi Brown: OT
•Brandon Keith: OT
•Lyle Sendlein: C

DEFENSE:
•Calais Campbell: DE
•Dan Wiliams: DT
•Darnell Dockett: DE
•A.J. Jefferson: CB
•Patrick Peterson: CB
•Adrian Wilson: S
•Joey Porter: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Dave Zastudil: P
•Jay Feely: K

SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Patrick Willis hits opponents with about as much violent force as a human being possible can. So when you put his character in a video game that rewards hard hits with turnovers, not to mention, ignites Willis and his teammates on fire in order to give them unlimited turbo, you have the recipe for success in San Francisco. Add in Vernon Davis and Frank Gore on offense, and you definitely have a winner on your hands.

OFFENSE:
•Alex Smith: QB
•Frank Gore: RB
•Michael Crabtree: WR
•Vernon Davis: TE
•Joe Staley: OT
•Anthony Davis: OT
•Jonathan Goodwin: C

DEFENSE:
•Ray McDonald: DE
•Justin Smith: DE
•Isaac Sopoaga: DT
•Shawntae Spencer: CB
•Carlos Rogers: CB
•Donte Whitner: S
•Patrick Willis: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•David Akers: K
•Andy Lee: P

SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

You've seen what "Beast Mode" does in real life. Now imagine the impact Marshawn Lynch will make in a game like "Blitz," bouncing off and running through defenders while on fire. Add in Sidney Rice and Mike Williams on the outside and the running threat of quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, and this is another one of those surprise teams you can play as to pickup some upset virtual victories.

OFFENSE:
•Tarvaris Jackson: QB
•Marshawn Lynch: RB
•Sidney Rice: WR
•Mike Willliams: WR
•Russell Okung: OT
•James Carpenter: OT
•Max Unger: C

DEFENSE:
•Chris Clemons: DE
•Red Bryant: DE
•Brandon Mebane: DT
•Brandon Browner: CB
•Marcus Trufant: CB
•Earl Thomas: S
•David Hawthorne: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Steven Hauschka: K
•Jon Ryan: P

ST. LOUIS RAMS

Injuries have decimated the real Rams this year, but when you look at their 7-on-7 "Blitz" team, this is a dangerous group to contend with, especially on offense. Brandon Lloyd is as good as they get at wide receiver, Steven Jackson is a monster out of the backfield, and Danny Amendola has the speed to take those quick screens to the house. Don't sleep on this team.

OFFENSE:
•Sam Bradford: QB
•Steven Jackson: RB
•Brandon Lloyd: WR
•Danny Amendola: WR
•Jason Smith: OT
•Rodger Staffold: OT
•Jason Brown: C

DEFENSE:
•Chris Long: DE
•James Hall: DE
•Fred Robbins: DT
•Bradley Fletcher: CB
•Ronald Bartell: CB
•Craig Dahl: S
•James Laurinaitis: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Donnie Jones: P

'NFL Blitz' Roster Reveal: AFC West

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/1220/vg_afc_3_576.jpg

Tebow Time is coming to "NFL Blitz."

Miller Time is not.

But don't let the absence of Von Miller ruin the fun, as Tebow is one of those quarterbacks who plays the perfect "Blitz" game, running through tacklers, pitching the ball to his running back, and then even catching a pass out in the open thanks to the game's funky playbook.

Check out all the Broncos who made it into the game below, as well as their AFC West rivals from Oakland, Kansas City, and San Diego.

DENVER BRONCOS

Looking at this Denver lineup really makes me wonder when they put this roster together. If it was late enough to trade Brandon Lloyd to the Rams, wasn't that enough time to see that Von Miller is a complete stud and someone who fans would want to play as in the game? The lack of Willis McGahee also makes this team feel out of date/touch. Then again, with Tebow as the quarterback, I expect this team to get a lot of run no matter who is in the lineup alongside him.

OFFENSE:
•Tim Tebow: QB
•Knowshon Moreno: RB
•Eric Decker: WR
•Demariyus Thomas: WR
•Ryan Clady: OT
•Orlando Franklin: OT
•J.D. Walton: C

DEFENSE:
•Robert Ayers: DE
•Elvis Dumervil: DE
•Brodrick Bunkley: DT
•Champ Bailey: CB
•Andre Goodman: CB
•Brian Dawkins: S
•D.J. Williams: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Matt Prater: K
•Britton Colquitt: P

KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Looking at the Chiefs roster makes you realize just how devastated this team was by injury this season. No worries, KC fans, in "Blitz," everyone from Jamaal Charles to Eric Berry is fully healthy and ready to play. And you know a guy like Charles has that video-game speed every virtual football fan is looking for.

OFFENSE:
•Matt Cassel: QB
•Jamaal Charles: RB
•Dwayne Bowe: WR
•Tony Moeaki: TE
•Branden Albert: OT
•Barry Richardson: OT
•Casey Wiegmann: C

DEFENSE:
•Tyson Jackson: DE
•Glenn Dorsey: DE
•Kelly Gregg: DT
•Brandon Carr: CB
•Brandon Flowers: CB
•Eric Berry: S
•Derrick Johnson: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Ryan Succop: K
•Dustin Colquitt: P

OAKLAND RAIDERS

In "NFL Blitz," speed kills. So all you need to do is take one look at the Raiders lineup to know that they are going to be one of the best teams in the game. The combination of Darren McFadden, Louis Murphy, and Jacoby Ford is going to be tough for any defense to cover, and Carson Palmer has the type of arm in the game to take advantage of every mismatch.

OFFENSE:
•Carson Palmer: QB
•Darren McFadden: RB
•Louis Murphy: WR
•Jacoby Ford: WR
•Jared Veldheer: OT
•Khalif Barnes: OT
•Samson Satele: C

DEFENSE:
•Lamarr Houston: DE
•Matt Shaughnessy: DE
•Richard Seymour: DT
•Stanford Routt: CB
•Tyvon Branch: S
•Chris Johnson: CB
•Kamerion Wimbley: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Shane Lechler: P
•Sebastian Janikowski: K

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS

You played "NFL Blitz" back in the day, you know that the passing game is about tall receivers who fly through the air and make jump catches. With Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates, the Chargers should have two of the biggest (and best) targets in the game.

OFFENSE:
•Philip Rivers: QB
•Ryan Matthews: RB
•Vincent Jackson: WR
•Antonio Gates: TE
•Marcus McNeill: OT
•Jeromey Clary: OT
•Nick Hardwick: C

DEFENSE:
•Jaques Cesaire: DE
•Antonio Garay: DT
•Luis Castillo: DE
•Antoine Cason: CB
•Quentin Jammer: CB
•Eric Weddle: S
•Shaun Phillips: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:

The Gamer's "NFL Blitz" roster reveal countdown continues today with a look at the AFC North lineups.

From Troy Polamalu obliterating receivers over the middle of the field to cover star Ray Rice slicing his way to paydirt, this division is packed with players who will look spectacular catching on fire when the game hits January 4.

BALTIMORE RAVENS

The Ravens are going to be one of the toughest teams to score on in "Blitz" thanks to Haloti Ngata, Ed Reed, and Ray Lewis. With those three, you have a beast up front, in the middle, and in the secondary, each with the ability to create turnovers and cause havoc. Light the defense on fire, and you'll be lucky not to fumble or throw a pick six. The absence of Torrey Smith hurts the offense in terms of a long-bomb threat, but Ray Rice has the type of speed and versatility you look for in a "Blitz" back.

OFFENSE:
•Joe Flacco: QB
•Ray Rice: RB
•Lee Evans: WR
•Anquan Boldin: WR
•Bryant McKinnie: OT
•Michael Oher: OT
•Matt Birk: C

DEFENSE:
•Cory Redding: DE
•Haloti Ngata: DE
•Terrence Cody: DT
•Lardarious Webb: CB
•Chris Carr: CB
•Ed Reed: S
•Ray Lewis: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Billy Cundiff: K
•Sam Koch: P

CINCINNATI BENGALS

Looking for a lethal jump-catch receiver? Look no further than A.J. Green. In fact, the rookie combination of Andy Dalton to Green make the Bengals a pretty fun "Blitz" team as you are never out of a game when you have weapons like that who can score on any play.

OFFENSE:
•Andy Dalton: QB
•Cedric Benson: RB
•A.J. Green: WR
•Jerome Simpson: WR
•Andrew Whitworth: OT
•Dennis Roland: OT
•Kyle Cook: C

DEFENSE:
•Robert Geathers: DE
•Michael Johnson: DE
•Domata Peko: DT
•Nate Clements: CB
•Leon Hall: CB
•Chris Crocker: S
•Rey Maualuga: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Mike Nugent: K
•Kevin Huber: P

CLEVELAND BROWNS

Josh Cribbs has the speed and playmaking ability you're looking for from a wideout, and Peyton Hillis, despite his rough season, is still a video game monster. The Browns aren't as bad in "Blitz" as you might think.

OFFENSE:
•Colt McCoy: QB
•Peyton Hillis: RB
•Josh Cribbs: WR
•Benjamin Watson: TE
•Joe Thomas: OT
•Tony Pashos: OT
•Alex Mack: C

DEFENSE:
•Jayme Mitchell: DE
•Jabaal Sheard: DE
•Ahtyba Rubin: DT
•Sheldon Brown: CB
•T.J. Ward: CB
•Joe Haden: S
•D'Qwell Jackson: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Phil Dawson: K
•Brad Maynard: P

PITTSBURGH STEELERS

The Steelers should be one of the best teams in "NFL Blitz."

James Harrison can hit fools as hard as he wants, sending them spiraling through the air, and even punching receivers before they cross the goal line in "Blitz." Why wasn't he on the cover? The Steelers used to be unbeatable in "Blitz" back in the day thanks to "Slash," and in the remake, they look to be one of the top teams again, highlighted by a hard-hitting defense, a quarterback who can fire the ball on the run, and one of the fastest receivers in the game. I just wonder if they gave Brett Keisel a virtual beard.

OFFENSE:
•Ben Roethlisberger: QB
•Rashard Mendenhall: RB
•Mike Wallace: WR
•Hines Ward: WR
•Willie Colon: OT
•Jonathan Scott: OT
•Maurkice Pouncey: C

DEFENSE:
•Aaron Smith: DE
•Brett Keisel: DE
•Casey Hampton: DT
•Bryant McFadden: CB
•Ike Taylor: CB
•Troy Polamalu: S
•James Harrison: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Shaun Suisham: K
•Daniel Sepulveda: P

'NFL Blitz' Roster Reveal: AFC South

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/1222/vg_afcsouth_1_576.jpg

Guess who's back, back again, Peyton's back, tell a friend.

That's right, the AFC South features plenty of impact players, but nobody will make Indy fans happier than having Peyton Manning back throwing darts to his receivers and igniting his offense on fire.

And Peyton's so good in the game, he makes the Colts a must-play team in "Blitz," even if they've become a "must change the channel" team in real life.

HOUSTON TEXANS
Amazing what the Texans have been able to do this season to overcome all of their injuries. But in "Blitz," Houston is back at full strength, making them one of the most dangerous teams in the game. Arian Foster and Andre Johnson are two of the best players in the league, so to have them both on the same side of the ball in a 7-on-7 game is a match-up nightmare for defenses.

OFFENSE:
•Matt Schaub: QB
•Arian Foster: RB
•Andre Johnson: WR
•Owen Daniels: TE
•Duane Brown: OT
•Eric Winston: OT
•Chris Myers: C

DEFENSE:
•Antonio Smith: DE
•J.J. Watt: DE
•Shaun Cody: DT
•Kareem Jackson: CB
•Johnathan Joseph: CB
•Glover Quin: S
•Mario Williams: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Brett Hartmann: P
•Neil Rackers: K

INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

Peyton is back his old self in "Blitz," firing the ball downfield to Reggie Wayne and across the middle to Dallas Clark. On defense, the pass rush of Robert Mathis and Dwight Freeney are key, putting pressure on opposing quarterbacks to the point where you'll need a passer with mobility in order to escape.

OFFENSE:
•Peyton Manning: QB
•Joseph Addai: RB
•Reggie Wayne: WR
•Dallas Clark: TE
•Anthony Castonzo: OT
•Jeff Linkenbach: OT
•Jeff Saturday: C

DEFENSE:
•Robert Mathis: DE
•Dwight Freeney: DE
•Fili Moala: DT
•Jerraud Powers: CB
•Jacob Lacey: CB
•Antoine Bethea: S
•Gary Brackett: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Pat McAfee: P
•Adam Vinatieri: K

JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

The only way I'd play as the Jaguars is if I lose some kind of bet. They're that bad in "Blitz." MJD is the only playmaker on the field, and Blaine Gabbert just doesn't make enough positive plays to be any kind of threat.

OFFENSE:
•Blaine Gabbert: QB
•Maurice Jones-Drew: RB
•Mike Thomas: WR
•Marcedes Lewis: TE
•Eugene Monroe: OT
•Eben Britton: OT
•Brad Meester: C

DEFENSE:
•Matt Roth: DE
•Aaron Kampman: DE
•Terrance Knighton: DT
•Derek Cox: CB
•Rashean Mathis: CB
•Dawan Landry: S
•Paul Posluszny: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Josh Scobee: K
•Matt Turk: P

TENNESSEE TITANS

Chris Johnson has been a video-game beast since his debut in "Madden," and it's no different here, as Johnson has the speed to take it to the house anytime he touches the ball. Add Kenny Britt on the outside, and you have a team that can definitely put up some points.

OFFENSE:
•Matt Hasselbeck: QB
•Chris Johnson: RB
•Nate Washington: WR
•Kenny Britt: WR
•Michael Roos: OT
•David Stewart: OT
•Eugene Amano: C

DEFENSE:
•William Hayes: DE
•Dave Ball: DE
•Shaun Smith: DT
•Jason McCourty: CB
•Cortland Finnegan: CB
•Michael Griffin: S
•Barrett Rudd: LB

•Brett Kern: P

'NFL Blitz' Roster Reveal: AFC East

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2011/1223/vg_afceast_1_576.jpg

ESPN's exclusive "NFL Blitz" roster reveal countdown concludes today with the AFC East lineups.
From Tom Brady catching fire to Reggie Bush running wild for the Dolphins, here are the virtual ballers who you'll be able to play as once the game hits the Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network January 4.

BUFFALO BILLS

If this was "Blitz: The League," Midway would've already added Stevie Johnson's "shoot myself in the leg like Plax" touchdown celebration. Then again, if this was "Blitz: The League," the game's storyline would also probably revolve around Sam Hurd. Anyway, the Bills are a middle-of-the-road team in the game, with Fred Jackson and Stevie Johnson as playmakers, but not too much else to get excited about.

OFFENSE:
•Ryan Fitzpatrick: QB
•Fred Jackson: RB
•Roscoe Parrish: WR
•Stevie Johnson: WR
•Demetrius Bell: OT
•Erik Pears: OT
•Eric Wood: C

DEFENSE:
•Marcell Dareus: DE
•Dwan Edwards: DE
•Kyle Williams: DT
•Leodis McKelvin: CB
•Terrence McGee: CB
•Jairus Byrd: S
•Nick Barnett: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Rian Lindell: K
•Brian Moorman: P

MIAMI DOLPHINS

Davone Bess has the speed, and Brandon Marshall has the size. If they had a better quarterback, they'd easily be a Top 5 "Blitz" team.

OFFENSE:
Chad Henne: QB
•Reggie Bush: RB
•Davone Bess: WR
•Brandon Marshall: WR
•Jake Long: OT
•Marc Colombo: OT
•Mike Pouncey

DEFENSE:
•Kendall Langford: DE
•Randy Starks: DE
•Paul Soliai: DT
•Sean Smith: CB
•Vontae Davis: CB
•Yeremiah Bell: S
•Cameron Wake: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Dan Carpenter: K
•Brandon Fields: P

NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS

Perhaps the most perplexing roster in the game, the "Blitz" Patriots feature two players who aren't even on the team anymore (Haynesworth and Bodden), not to mention, they put Chad Ochocinco in the game over Rob Gronkowski. Gronkowski is such a muscle-popping freak, he should not only be in the game, he should be on the cover. Instead, I'm throwing the ball to Ochocinco and hoping he doesn't drop it.

OFFENSE:
•Tom Brady; QB
•Danny Woodhead: RB
•Chad Ochocinco: WR
•Wes Welker: WR
•Matt Light: OT
•Sebastian Vollmer: OT
•Dan Koppen: C

DEFENSE:
•Albert Haynesworth: DE
•Shaun Ellis: DE
•Vince Wilfork: DT
•Leigh Bodden: CB
•Devin McCourty: CB
•Patrick Chung: S
•Jerod Mayo: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Zoltan Mesko: P
•Stephen Gostkowski: K

NEW YORK JETS

One of the best teams in the game, the Jets have two receivers who can beat you deep, and a defense that can not only create turnovers, but turn those picks into points. Plaxico Burress can out-leap just about anybody in "Blitz."

OFFENSE:
•Mark Sanchez: QB
•Shonn Green: RB
•Plaxico Burress: WR
•Santonio Holmes: WR
•D'Brickshaw Ferguson: OT
•Wayne Hunter: OT
•Nick Mangold: C

DEFENSE:
•Ropati Pitoitua: DE
•Mike DeVito: DE
•Sione Pouha: DT
•Antonio Cromartie: CB
•Darrelle REvis: CB
•Jim Leonhard: S
•David Harris: LB

SPECIAL TEAMS:
•Nick Folk: K
•T.J. Conley: P

It's alright, my main beef is how repetitive it is. I was expecting more plays, especially defensively, so that I could defend various things. As it is now, it's pretty much whoever has the ball last.

Still, fairly enjoyable so far. It's definitely going to be best played against people you know. I already got disconnection glitched(same exact setup as Madden), so...:D.

So what are thoughts on this one currently?

I am having a tough time getting into it. It's lacking a certain zip and excitement and IMO games last too long, but that could be due to the clock stopping on every play.

I'm pretty disappointed that you can only earn Blitz Bucks by playing online. in NBA JAM: On Fire Edition, you earn Jam Bucks offline as well to allow purchase of extras (players, teams, icons, etc.). Granted you can unlock some players offline in Gauntlet, but I don't like being forced to go online if I want to attain all unlockables.

For the offline experience/component, I'd recommend NBA Jam: On Fire Edition more.

Perfectly said. Unless you have close friends to play with, it's unplayable online. The offline modes are entertaining for about 15 minutes before they get really boring. On the other hand, NBA Jam OFE is extremely fun offline(again, only play this online if you have friends who play it) and I still play it daily.
