Also, that Sports Information Directors Poll is the biggest load of bullshit. No fuckin' way Alabama should be ahead of LSU. LSU absolutely dominated the best team in the PAC-12 (sorry Stanford, but Oregon is better). That's just nuts.

That would be great, PSU is tough at home and I see this being a low scoring game.

I wouldn't be surprised if Alabama lost. Who do they have at QB now that McElroy has left? Gotta be tough to bring someone in without as much talent at the RB and WR position as they had last year to help.

I think alabama will win this one by at least 10 points, McCarron is a good qb who is still developing and personally i think trent richardson is a better runningback than mark ingram he just hasn't gotten to much playing time and is yet to prove himself. Also they have marquis maze who is a very good receiver and a good defense.

Nothing really. I just like the small DI-A and the DI-AA schools. I also like to occasionally catch some of the Patriot League games in football since I follow the Patriot League in basketball due to Navy. Plus, it hopefully will be a good game since Colgate and Holy Cross finished 2/3 in the Patriot League last year.

Big rivalry game this weekend with Memphis at Arkansas State... here's a bit of the history between the two.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DparMwBzW9o
1992 - Brawl breaks out (advance to 5:30). Memphis' current Head Coach, Larry Porter, can be seen swinging a helmet around 6:05

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy6B5kDHwC0
2006 - Bluff City Miracle

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgoHD7IG1G4
2007 - Arkansas State scores 29 answer to come back from down 25 (advance to 3:44)

Additionally, without videos, in 2004 Memphis was ranked #25 when they came to Jonesboro. We had a small lead late in the game and trying to work the clock. We needed a solid drive to run out the clock but our QB gets sacked on 3rd down and they scoop & score a fumble to take the lead. We get back on the field and press but are unable to score... final score is Memphis 47 Arkansas State 35.
In 2008, we went to Memphis and lost in an ugly game 29-17.

This weekend should be interesting... I could see us blowing them out of the water or them narrowly beating us.

bdoughty
09-08-2011, 06:19 PM
Beat the snot out of Memphis. I can't stand them.

Edit: The pressure just got amped up as Memphis made the #1 spot on the bottom 10. He also has Ark St on the waiting list. That is a list to avoid, like the Noid.

Hilton for Heisman! If anyone in the SBC has ever deserved it, he would certainly be near the top of the list.

SmoothPancakes
09-09-2011, 07:52 PM
Yeah, Hilton is just scary good. 197 all purpose yards at halftime. Just three minutes into the 3rd quarter, it's now 228. To go with TD receptions of 74 and 83 yards.

FIU is no joke. I knew UNT was bad but FIU destroyed them. Now, could go up 28-10 on Louisville. Pretty impressive.

Here's the scary stat about T.Y. Hilton. 6 minutes left in the 3rd quarter, T.Y. Hilton has 186 receiving yards and 2 receiving TDs. On 5 catches for a 37.2 average.

I will admit I'm a little disappointed the PSU/Alabama game isn't the 8pm Prime Time game over ND/Michigan. Neither of those 2 have been relevant in 4 years.May just be as simple as ND/Michigan agreed to do a night game and PSU/Bama didn't. Ohio State turned down tons of home night games.

And that's why the National Championship, the BCS, and the national trophies like the Heisman are all bullshit. If you aren't in a BCS conference, you have to play like you're the second coming of Jesus Christ just to have any hope of even possibly having a chance of winning something.

A 2-0 start to the season and a HUGE night by T.Y. Hilton as FIU holds on to beat Louisville 24-17. If teams can't find a way to shut down Hilton, and the FIU offense keeps firing on all pistons, this could be a great year for the Golden Panthers.

http://www.usatoday.com/sports/college/football/bigten/story/2011-09-10/minnesota-coach-jerry-kill-collapses/50357334/1

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – Minnesota head coach Jerry Kill has been taken by ambulance from TCF Bank Stadium after collapsing late in the game against New Mexico State.

With 20 seconds left on the clock, the Gophers trailed 28-21 with the ball, trying for the tying touchdown. Medical personnel suddenly surrounded Kill on the sideline. He was rolling around on the turf, with his arms and legs flapping back and forth at times, silencing the stadium.

After about 15 minutes Kill was put on a stretcher, and the crowd clapped and chanted "Jerry! Jerry!" as he was rolled away.

Kill has a history of seizures. At Southern Illinois in 2006, he missed about a week before returning to the job.
He is reported to be in stable condition at the hospital, though.

Boston College was absolutely atrocious last night. Chase Rettig couldn't throw, the o-line couldn't block, the D couldn't make stops, and andre williams had no room to run on any plays. Hopefully they can bounce back and get themselves into a bowl game but this a worst case scenario for the start of the season. The good thing is they play Duke, UMass, and Wake Forrest all at home in the next weeks, Although with how the BC offense has looked those games are not gimmes.

For Christ sake ESPN. :fp: They're talking about the impact players of the game right now during FIU's opening drive, and for the two players they showed and talked about for FIU, T.Y. Hilton and RB Kedrick Rhodes, they have the stats saying "Last week vs Murray State:" Really ESPN? Are you freaking kidding me? You idiots had Murray State-Louisville nationally broadcasted on ESPNU last week! Good lord. :fp:

Good lord. :fp:It's not that bad.

Worse is when you have two players with the same number on a team, so you get the pop-up stats saying that a DB threw for 300 yards.

I know this may sound stupid, but i dont really watch texas very much and i saw case mccoy was playing qb. Is he related to colt.Case is his younger brother. And Jaxon Shipley is Jordan's younger brother. And, for the third time in McCoy/Shipley family history (fathers, then the older brothers), McCoy and Shipley are roommates.

And you are guaranteed to hear all three of these items during every Texas broadcast for the next three years.

It's not that bad.

Worse is when you have two players with the same number on a team, so you get the pop-up stats saying that a DB threw for 300 yards.

You're right not, it's not as bad as something like that happening. But it's still bad, and sad, considering just last Thursday one of ESPN's own channels nationally broadcast the Murray State-Louisville game, and now apparently according to ESPN, it was FIU playing Murray State and not Louisville. I can guarantee you that you would never see something like that in a game with teams like Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, etc.

Sure, it's just FIU from the Sun Belt Conference, and not some big game between two ranked teams or something, but regardless, ESPN should not be making stupid mistakes like that. They need to take pride in their work. Whether it's just a simple HS game or the BCS national championship, do every broadcast, with all the bells and whistles they want to include, like it's the Super Bowl that they're broadcasting. Working in radio, when we're doing a live broadcast remote for a business, we do it with the same effort every time, whether it's for little old single employee Billy Bob's Manure Farm, or for the biggest company in NW Ohio. ESPN should do the same.

JeffHCross
09-11-2011, 12:30 PM
I can guarantee you that you would never see something like that in a game with teams like Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, etc.Eh ... actually, I've seen them flub "last game" graphics quite regularly. I don't know exactly what goes into creating those graphics, I imagine it pulls from a database, but it may just be a simple copy/paste error. I imagine they don't have too much oversight for graphics -- obviously because they expect people to get them right.

Working in radio, when we're doing a live broadcast remote for a business, we do it with the same effort every time, whether it's for little old single employee Billy Bob's Manure Farm, or for the biggest company in NW Ohio. ESPN should do the same. Now, I've worked in radio too ... and while you may put the same level of technical effort into it, I'm sure there's a difference in personnel involved, visibility, and likelihood to brush off an error between those two situations.

Worse is when you have two players with the same number on a team, so you get the pop-up stats saying that a DB threw for 300 yards.

Case is his younger brother. And Jaxon Shipley is Jordan's younger brother. And, for the third time in McCoy/Shipley family history (fathers, then the older brothers), McCoy and Shipley are roommates.

And you are guaranteed to hear all three of these items during every Texas broadcast for the next three years.
lol thx, thats pretty cool
