:Indiana:

The Hoosiers pull one out of their arse as they take down the Virginia Cavaliers 28-27 in Bloomington. Indiana came back from a 10-0 1st half and a 24-14 2nd half defecit to win the game on 36 yard TD pass from 3rd string QB Teddy Schell to star WR Damarlo Belcher (2 rec 43 yards 1 TD).

Starting QB Edward Baker helped the Cavs get the 1st of the 10 point leads with his 5-19 38 yard 2 INT outing. 5th year Senior QB Schell provided a calming prescence as he went 7-10 for 117 yards and 1 TD to help Darius Willis fight the 8 man boxes with 29 carries 113 yards and 2 TD.

SS Jarrell Drane led the D with 11 tackles with help from emerging DT Adam Replogle who had 5 tackles (4 TFL) and a sack.

The 3-0 Indiana Hoosiers will travel to take on the Bowling Green Falcons for their 1st road game of the season....looking to improve to 2-0 in MAC play. Then they will get a week off to take on the a very tough October 4 game stretch.

10-1: Penn State
10-15: at Miami (OH)
10-22: Minnesota
10-29: at Iowa State

....brutal.

----

Coach LoneStar's off-the-record comments: 7 penalties for 88 yards with about 5 facemasks despite having gameplan stripping on conversative....I know I got lucky winning this game 'cause it wasn't in the cpu's plans for me to do so. I'm expecting PSU to break their foot off in my ass. That is all.

The Kansas Jayhawks get the ugly win against Northern Illinois 20-9.

Kansas took the early lead with a fumble recovery that was taken in for six. The Jayhawks would not relinquish the lead from there on out but it was a very ugly game.

QB Joe Webb went 11-34, 132 yards with 1 int. Webb misfires on 3 wide open TD's that a high schooler could have hit. Then on the others the game's low trajectory factored into 2 batted down passes that shouldn't have.

RB James Sims carried the ball 22 times for 153 yards and 1 TD.

The defense played well forcing NIU to kick 3 FG's. Their QB was effective in scrambling and ran for 51 yards on the day. He was fortunate to have our defense drop 3 user picks and 2 others that were gift wrapped but we were able to hold on to one in the endzone.

The D also chipped in a sack in the game.

Duke loses a heart breaker to Stanford as the defense really kept the blue devils in the game, but 2 interceptions inside the stanford 25 yrd line doomed the devils.

Iowa State Narrowly Wins the Cy-Hawk Trophy
Defenses stifle offenses in low scoring battle

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/gschwendt/NCAA12/511A0001_1_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_AUg1.jpgAmes, IA - For any fan in attendance for today's match that was expecting offensive fireworks... they got what they came for in the first 5 minutes of the game. After that, not so much.

The Battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy started off electrifying as Iowa State CB James Watson returned the opening kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown (2 point conversion failed). On the Hawkeyes ensuing drive, they quickly drove the field eventually scoring on a 18 yard pass to take a one point lead. Iowa State answered back driving down and scoring on a 19 yard pass with 3:40 remaining in the opening quarter. That was the last points fans of either team saw.

Defensively, both teams were stifling with the offenses combining for 344 yards and each limited to the one score. Where the defenses really came up big were third downs with Iowa converting 23% of their first downs and Iowa State converting on 29%. Both offenses did each attempt a field goal but the Cyclones were out of range while the Hawkeyes saw their attempt sail just left of the upright.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v315/gschwendt/511A0001_2_JPEG_SCREENSHOT_fbM1.jpgThe big defensive play came late in the game with only 1:32 remaining. Iowa was attempting to convert a 4th & 1 from their own 30 yard line. However, Iowa State FS Earl Brooks came up big in the clutch breaking through the line, stopping Iowa HB Adam Robinson for no gain, allowing the Cyclones to run out the remainder of the clock. Watch below to see Brooks' game-winning tackle.

With the win, Iowa State moves to 2-0 on the early season and next week continue the winning trend as they open conference play against the Ohio Bobcats.

User tackle for loss FTW... literally, for the win.

Not sure if I am the only one seeing this, but we may need to look at the user pass rush. I sacked Akron's QB 10 times this last game and Missouri's 6 last game. My DT has 7 sacks on the season in just 2 games.

I agree... I had I believe 9 sacks in my opening game. Didn't pay attention to how many in my second game. However, the majority of mine are more coverage sacks, a lot with the CPU QB tucking and running but my defense gets to him before he gets to the LOS.

Not to butt in, but the coverage sacks are a huge problem. I've mentioned to EA and they are looking at it.

Tommy, it wouldn't hurt if you mentioned it too. The CPU QBs need to get rid of the ball.

Sorry, I should be good to play this evening with a 5 - 6 pm central KO. work may get in the way and push the time later but I can go tonight. Stupid new Policy at work states we cannot have any personal communications devices (cell phones) on our person or in our trucks except at lunch and break. Have to keep it locked in a bin the rest of the time.

Sometimes I dont know why I bother! As usual you played great and I had plenty of chances but I apparently don't know what I am doing. The game was not as close as the score indicates. You blew me away!
