Yes please leave the +/- Rep and Chat box out of TGT. IMHO, it just doesn't "fit" with the "feel" we have going here.

EDIT: BTW nice job with the :6greenarrow: :6redarrow:

Lol. I agree, but just out of curiosity how would you describe "the feel" if TGT?

I've alway felt that this place is sort of like the Bundy family. Some of us are Al, the never going anywhere women's shoe salesman, but always with something to say (and jokes to make, usually at the expense of others). Some of us are Peggy, our TGT version of couch sitting, bonbon eating, nagging wives. Some of us are Bud, occasionally awkward and has a preoccupation with sex. And some of us are Kelly, making everyone else on here regularly go :fp:.

http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/showthread.php?2915-Forums-Advanced-Search

To answer your question from your thread,

do the advanced search for your keywords, when it returns all of the threads that mention these keywords open each thread and do a "Search this Thread" for your keywords and it should return the relevant posts.

However with what you searching for it's going to be huge.

Since I am starting to see a few more bans now can we enshrine the first person to get banned from TGT since the site is so new?

We need a subscriber section so we can all be dickheads in a semi private environment. Obviously I will not get anywhere near mors (or was it smooth, I'll have to check) status with his responses (which are classic) towards people . Maybe if we give some of the older crowd a place to vent the board would be a much happier place. LOL

Personally I appreciate the responses but I don't see a reason to fight with either:
A. 12 year olds
B. Older people who act like 12 Year Olds .
C. General EA haters who start a thread just to make sure there complaint gets seen
D. The random I found a bug Person
E. This game is so unrealistic person (though the key word is game)
F. Any variation of said person listed above.

I choose to simply ask a very simple question and hopefully they say there peace and everyone moves on it doesn't get crazy until people start agreeing and we then have a orgy fest of the same people.

See this is why we need a Subscription section we are hijacking a thread.

Dude, a separate thread isn't gonna stop stupid shit from being posted and someone saying something to get someone riled up. That's what forums on the internet are for and have been used for since the inception of them. Someone posts something dumb as shit, someone verbally assaults them for it, one of the two gets bored of it and it all starts over again with two other posters.

First person banned was some spammer back in June 2010 probably.

And no, we don't need a subscriber section, because knowing first hand it's an abortion, as it is on Xxxxxx....that will never ever happen over here.

Yeah, but how much more do we need? We get the gold name. We get a much larger avatar than non-donators. We get signatures if we want them. We can have our own sub-forum created for our online dynasties. We already get quite a bit.

So jb since your logic was so flawless on the donor section can we have a private thread that is by invite only? Where we can sanely talk about the games issues or questions? Without going thrown pages of teenage meltdowns, and personal blowups. Kinda like somewhere where emotion is left at the door and we maturely state issues or questions. Just asking. I just read the tuner patch thread and I'm not sure I learned anything or found any answers.

Well, the only problem is half those people childishly complaining are donors too, so it'd be the same thing in the "private thread", just 100% more complaining without at least one or two sane posts separating them.

My mistake. :D I was going under the assumption that you were going with the idea of having it be invite only, but open to all donors. A bit of a bad assumption my part. But I do agree. If we could have a thread or something where only those of us who are level headed and will discuss the issues and the game without all the personal attacks on EA staff, the specific name droppings, etc, I wouldn't mind that. At least then we'd be able to have a mature discussion without "EA sucks! This game is shit! Fuck so and so at EA." every other post. That stuff is starting to get annoying.

It's like yes, we realize you don't like the game. But that doesn't mean you have to post a bunch of crap about EA and the game, dropping names of game developers, etc, 30 different times in 10 different threads in a period of 24 hours.

Yeah, I mean, if I see an issue, hell, I'll post about it and make sure EA knows about it. But some of the threads popping up, or posts being made, in that forum, are just going overboard and getting ridiculous. It's one thing to make a post bitching about an issue. It's another thing to make an entire new thread, bitching hardcore about each issue one person comes across, and then not only that, but now specifically calling out individual developers by name and trashing them. That shit is entirely uncalled for.

Just because we don't ban people over here just because they dared to say a negative thing about EA, doesn't mean that you have to become a giant ass about it and become absolutely fucking absurd in the level of bitching you do, and stuff you include in that bitching.

Oh don't worry mors, I'm still pissed about Gator with that bullshit of calling out the EA devs by name, as well as then insinuating that I'm a liar just because I posted that I wasn't seeing some of these issues that people were complaining about. I still have some respect for him just for being able to deal with and put up with the hell of doing rosters every year, but I'm still pissed. I understand this is you guys' home forum but y'all shouldn't stoop down to their level and waste your time with arguing with them. Not saying you guys' were wrong (I personally side with Smooth's comments) but I just don't want this place to go the route of the two sites I despise to engage in conversation on with these topics present. TGT is special because it has a great bulk of the EA GCs here and they are willing to give every opinion the time of day if its presented correctly. Some sites instantly delete your thread/ban you if you say anything negative about EA no matter what form or fashion its presented. But those same sites will allow you to bash the EA competition. I love the 'neutral' feel around TGT despite it being dominated by EA games. Inciting these people that may have found TGT because of OS will only change the attitude of the forum, especially if it gets the 'Pro EA No Matter What' label. These type of posters will continue to sign up and look to start a riot. Lets keep our 'cool' and direct them to a more helpful and mature way of getting the information to EA developers without personally attacking them. You can't stay mad at a person who always approaches you with a smile.

Nah, it's all good Jerzey. I too love TGT for the exact reasons you mentioned, and I would hate to see it turn down that direction as a forum, nor would I hate to have a hand in it taking a turn like that. While I still stand by what I said, I never meant for things to get out of hand like that last night. Like I told Gator in my last post before JB locked it, I was just giving my personal experience and opinion regarding the bugs and issues, so from my viewpoint, they seem to be hit and miss when it comes to affecting people, and not something that everyone is being aggravated by. I never had any intention of going back and forth with Gator like we did. It wasn't until he started calling me in denial and insinuating that I was a liar about things that I said that I had or had not seen that things started becoming personal for me, and well, you have the end result. I never intended it, never meant for it to go down that way.

I do think Gator was way out of line however, long before I ever made my first post in that thread last night. Calling out individual devs by name goes way, way over the line for me. As well, Gator has been so negative lately. I swear before me and him started going back and forth, I honestly feel like every single post I had read by him during all of yesterday was nothing but 100% complaining about the game and talking shit about the developers in general. I don't remember any constructive posts from him yesterday before last night's events, just negativity and more blind negativity.

I agree 1000%. Some people just don't understand the environment they have now entered when they've logged onto TGT and conduct themselves the best they know how, which in most cases doesn't mesh with this community. On another forum his words would be golden and accepted. Your words probably were mistaken as a :EA or Nothing!: forum response. From the outside looking in, as well as being a member of several communities, I knew that was going to escalate quickly.

I haven't seen the issues most bring up constantly. My only issue has been a few freezes. Hopefully once everyone gets their rosters the mature guys will find a comfort zone and stick around and the kids go back into their little hole until next year :)

While I do agree with both parties on some aspects, I'll never understand the people who genuinely get bent out of shape over incorrect shoes or uniform colors. I mean, seriously? You drop down $60 to model your football team? I'm just as big of a Gator fan as anyone, and I couldn't give two shits what color their cleats are.

On the flip side, I do not agree that you should post the issue once and then let it go. If it's an issue, it needs to be talked about until it's corrected, IMO. It obviously needs to be done in a way that isn't personally attacking someone or something, and I also realize that some of you may not like reading about it, but that's the nature of the beast. Some people are going to care about something while others wont. Just like the roster glitch. I'm reading a bunch of people post about it like it's the end of the world, and I personally think it's a waste of space because I don't care. On the other hand, I've posted multiple times how the trajectory of the ball needs to be raised to a more realistic level, and I'm sure some of you don't care about that. That doesn't mean it's not an issue, however, it just means it's not something that's going to affect you.

First, I'm the same way about the cleats issue. If Navy had colored cleats like Florida, I honestly would not care about it if it was wrong. Jersey, pants, helmet, yes. But cleats, hell no. I don't look at cleats when I'm playing. I don't notice what color they care during a game. So just like you, I don't give a damn about cleats.

As for posting repeatedly about the issues, I agree there, to an extent. If they can be talked about in the proper threads, in an intelligent and productive manner, then hey, people can talk about the issues until their face turns blue as far as I'm concerned. But my issue is like what I've seen these past couple days from Gator. Every tiny issue he came across, he'd create an entirely new thread, including multiple threads for one or two of the same issues, including some sort of EA bashing in the thread title itself, and then at least half of that first post would be nothing but blind EA bashing and hate. Just look at the second to last page in the Tuner/Patch thread, how much he blindly bashes EA. Then there was the specifically calling out individual developers by name.

Like I said, if people can talk about it without all the massive amounts of EA bashing, without all the blind EA hate, and keep it contained the proper thread and not sit there creating new threads over and over for the same issues, then I'm all for people talking about and posting repeatedly about the same issues. Just don't get absurd and obnoxious about it like some of the new members have. Just because we're not like OS and don't ban someone and delete posts or threads simply because they dared to say a single negative word about EA, doesn't mean people have to become obnoxious asses about it like they and take advantage of the free and open nature of discussions that we have here.

Just look at the Block-O/Gatorbait rosters thread last weekend when OS started banning people left and right, and they started coming here. 40 f'ing pages of pure, 100% unadulterated, off-topic bullshit in one overnight period just because all those new people who had been banned at OS came over and started up the exact shit that had caused the roster thread to get closed down at OS. They were even sitting there in the thread on here saying "I can't believe the mods haven't closed this yet. On OS, we'd have been banned by now." Just because we don't have a giant army of mods and admins ready to instantly close threads or ban people for going off-topic in stuff or saying something negative about EA, doesn't mean they can come over here and take a giant shit in our forums and act like a bunch of douchebags just because we allow freedom of opinion, both positive and negative about EA, over here.

I agree that when large issues occur, they need to be discussed extensively and make sure everyone is aware how large of an issue it is without beating it into the ground (ala dreads on OS last year).

That said, it gives me an idea that I'm just spitballing on... what would you guys think about having a section in the NCAA section that is dedicated to re-occurring issues. Users wouldn't be able to start threads there, however as a trend becomes noticed, we can move the thread to that section and discussion can continue concentrated on it.

Any thoughts, good or bad?

I would be all for that. It'd allow discussion on the issues, and also keep the main NCAA forums a little less cluttered with people not making new threads about the same issues that are already being talked about elsewhere.

Are you thinking of something along the lines of one mass thread like the Tuner/Patch thread? Or something along the lines of each issue having it's own thread of discussion in the section, so people can talk about each issue individually?

Yeah, the idea would be that each issue would have it's own thread with dedicated discussion. That way if a dev or even one of us Admins comes along trying to gather all of the information together, they can easily do so in a one-stop-shop approach instead of wading through all of the discussion about other topics.

These types of things can fit into other threads but noobs come along looking for an immediate response and clutter the boards with this garbage.

Yeah, that would definitely be the best approach in my opinion. Keep everything on track with a single issue in each thread rather than having different people trying to discuss different issues in the same thread, and making it a nightmare to read and sort through.

Is it possible to just make people reach a certain post count (100/500/1000) before they can start a thread?

You mean for that section or for the entire board?

I'd say just for that section. We have some of the new people who came over from OS making threads in the dynasty section for their dynasties, or creating threads to advertise and start up their own ODs and whatnot.

That is a bad idea. Your post count has nothing to do with the quality of your post. Just remember there are always people that lurk and only post on occasion. They eventually want to start a valid thread but can't due to the rules. If anything it could detract someone from staying at TGT. You do not want to lose good members do you? On the flip side you will get people spamming every forum just to reach a predetermined post count to create a thread,

It really boils down to a little common sense and removing the thread creation privileges of members who abuse the feature. It is the internet and you get the good and the bad. Let the mods/admins take care of them individually, instead of creating rules just because of a few bad apples.

My 2 cents

I agree. Whoring to get posts just to post some inane bullshit in another section is just silly. Make that section locked to new threads unless one of Jeremy, Tommy, or Chris feels that they need to be there to be discussed.

As for the other two forums that suck ass, it's OS and Utopia, and I'll just leave it at that.

Meh, I see your point. However, even if my idea is "bad" what we have done hasn't been successful of late either.

I seriously doubt someone is going to spam to reach 1000 posts just so they can start a thread about UF's shoe color. If they do, they'll get banned long before they reach the threshold.

Besides, a Mod could always take a good post and make a thread of it. At least this way, there wouldn't be guys with 4 posts starting threads about "how do I get named rosters?" and other stupid shit.

At the end of the day, I know my opinion won't be popular, but I just wanted to offer an alternative to what had been offered. Devil's Advocate. It's really just a band-aid for a short period.

How many good threads have been started by guys with very few posts lately? Lol.

Just an FYI, I've implemented a security patch for our current vBulletin version. We shouldn't see any problems but in case you come across any, let me know. This obviously won't introduce any new features but it was suggested to implement ASAP.

That said, sometime in the next month I'll be implementing the latest version of vBulletin which will introduce some nice features. I'll get into that at a later time but I think quite a few people will like it.

Just a thought... NEW MEMBER BAN THE WEEK OF NCAA 13 RELEASE. A lot of people pop in the week on the release, stir up trouble and then are gone. I just hate to see the fighting, bickering, and name-calling on this site. Honestly, IMO this is the best gaming site on the web. that kind of defeats the whole purpose , right ? the site only gets new members when the game comes out in the first place, obviously. And turning people away wont be beneficial. You just have to learn to weed out the bad seeds, hopefully objectively. You have to let people be a little loose :D

I say, when release week comes around, give all the community day guys mod powers just for that week, so you'll at least double the amount of people able to move posts or new threads to their proper place, delete stupid pointless posts or threads, etc. It'd save the admins a lot of time dealing with all that, so they could keep their attention focused on the new members themselves and step in with the ban hammer if any of them starting becomes pains in all of our asses.

So I know I asked this months ago but I don' t think there was a reply. Is it possible to get something like OS has as far as two different site domains to get around employers website block.

For example I cannot access operationsports.com without getting the your job has blocked this website screen. Sidenote: My job does have this awesome system of quota time where we can access pretty much any site we want but only for 120 min a day.

But I can get their "work" address titled http://www.osatwork.com/ without any issues. I don't even have a OS user name and I refuse to join but sometimes I just like to read, and I like this site where I actually do post from time to time.

Is this possible, I will pay you 8.00 a year(or however much we pay). LOL

I'll look into it. I'm not sure if it's just the URL not containing "gaming" or some kind of plugin for it or whatever. That said, I've heard people complain that even osatwork.com gets filtered by their work.

Yeah upon further research I don't know what it is either, but I did ask our tech guy (who is really cool by the way) and he said it mostly depends on how "sensitive" the domain blocker used is. He thought it was awesome that they found a way to get around some of them though just by renaming.

I'm mostly speaking to the veterans of the site when I say this but it applies to everyone.

Can we all just get along? Can we stop making it horrible for the veterans and the newcomers?

It's getting really old walking into the NCAA General Discussion area only to see people bickering back & forth and a lot of the arguments are really ridiculous. I think we all know why this site was created and it defeats the purpose of our enjoyment when that's what we have to come home to. I realize that we've had a lot of new members that may not necessarily understand our goals or interests in the site but rather than confront them, educate them. If it's determined they can't be educated, tell us how you feel and we'll address it how we see fit. 0

At the end of the day though, let's let a lot of this petty shit go.

Some of you have already received warnings... in due time, those will turn into infractions and infractions turn into vacations. We can't make this simple enough. We want this site to be one that we enjoy participating in. If you're not onboard with that then let us know and we'll find a way to fix it.

The problem is also getting all these OS people to realize exactly what we're trying to do here. Things for the most part were great here at TGT until OS started the mass banning two weekends ago, and then a bunch of them started coming over here, mainly for the Buck/Bait rosters. Some stayed here, and because we actually allow people speak their true feelings and don't ban people on the spot for saying something negative regarding NCAA or EA, some of them feel like and think that they can start bashing EA and dragging the devs through the mud 24/7 just because we let people speak their thoughts, both positive and negative, here.

Things were great, and while we would get at each other's throats now and then, it was nothing major, before the mass banning at OS. Once all those people started coming over here, we seem to be having fights and arguments left and right now. I honestly would not be surprised, if someone went back for the last two weeks and looked at every thread that was closed, or every thread that had people start fighting in it, if 95% of those threads had at least one OS person in the middle of it all.

Nothing against OS and their forums or members or admins, but the seemingly overwhelming majority of issues have been coming up lately after people started migrating from OS over to here.

I don't know who you mean, but most of the complaints I've seen so far are legitimate ones in my eyes. With all the freezing issues, the roster glitch, the custom playbook glitch, the low trajectory of passes, the way the AI reacts too quickly to the ball being thrown, fumbles, etc...

As for demanding something, I paid $60 for a...what I see...unfinished product, so in my mind, I have every right to demand something get corrected if it needs to be corrected. Just my 2 cents. I couldn't care less if they fix it. If they do, I'll continue to play. If they don't, Madden comes out in a month.

You can demand and you do have every right to do so, but then it I shall refer what I just said to you "Who the fuck are you?" I understand when I am complaining for no reason and what I say truly has no effect on the situation I would think most rational adults would know the same. If you have something to say fine, no need in thinking your say so really matters in the grand scheme of things you voiced your opinion move on, don't think you really have any say.

You have a weird way of showing you couldn't care less you are in just about every thread saying something is wrong, so if you don't care stop talking about it , you are giving the kiddies ammunition and I think you do care but for some reason you won't admit it. If you truly believe most of the complaints you are seeing are legitimate ones then we might as well not have this discussion because outside of the major ones ( which you listed, Ill give you the trajectory thing though I disagree with that entire complaint in the first place, its a game) most of them truly aren't legitimate, they are more like people's personal opinions on situations and personal wants, or even lack of skill, not anything truly wrong with the game.

Why buy Madden? You know its pretty much going to be the same thing , okay I will be nice and say different problems but basically the same issue. Lol
That's just crazy to me for someone to have so many problems with a product and still buy it.

They're not personal opinions, they're 100% legitimate issues with the game. There's no opinion that the trajectory of the ball is too low. It's a fact. I can prove it via video and yes, it's something that affects the game. You see the video where my opponent fumbled 11 times in 10 minutes? That's an issue, too. I can also prove via video that the defense reacts to the ball being thrown at the exact millisecond you press the button, which is stupid and has a drastic effect on the game. I can also prove that the rocket catch is still in the game. I can also prove the pass rush still takes entirely way too long to get to the QB. Please explain how a single one of those issues isn't a legitimate issue.

Whether or not you see those issues isn't on me. I know what I'm looking for which is why I'm able to point out these issues fairly quickly.

As for me caring, ha, I definitely don't. It kind of bugs me that a product I used to love isn't anywhere near the quality it used to be, but that's life. The only thing I can do is post the feedback in a place that the developers will potentially read and hope they take it into account and get it corrected. If they don't, there isn't much else I can do. Like I said, if they don't, there's another football game coming out that I've loved the past 2 years. The game play in Madden is way better than NCAA has been the past 2 years. The game play is smoother online, the online has more features, and the game play is more balanced.

If Madden sucks, then I have Gears, BF, Call of Duty, and the other huge selection of games to choose from. The days of me not playing anything when NCAA and Madden aren't up to par ended a very long time ago.

I doubt it being summer has anything to do with people having issues with NCAA. :D

As for being irritated, that's the exact opposite. I'm rarely ever irritated when I post. I don't particularly like watching my post patterns get knocked down by the underlying LB, but it's not enough to irritate me. I'm merely posting issues I find in the game in hopes they get corrected so I can enjoy the game more. If you want to see me irritated, try to talk to me after playing a few rounds of Ms Splosion Man. :D

Yes it is your opinion whether you want to admit it or not that's on you, just because you believe something is wrong doesn't make it ...you know....wrong. Just your opinion that it is wrong. You are not an all knowing expert on games IOU, nethier am I, or anyone else you ask 20 people the same question on a game you will more than likely get 15 different answers. I said I will give you the major issue which you listed, the only one I had a grievance with was the trajectory, because honestly if its broken now it has always been broken even back to PS2 days.

You can't really say the fumble is broken, maybe you just had one of those games? I have had games where I fumbled a shit load of times, sometimes shit is just random. Should it ever happen of course not, but that doesnt make it broken, that makes it one of those "shit happens" moments. Are you getting 11 fumbles every time you pick up the controller? Is everyone else? I think you said you had the forced fumbles set to aggressive, if he didn't have his thingy set to conservative, or better yet if he had big run set to aggressive then yes he will fumble alot and knowing most people he either forgot or didn't want to cut it off. Are those adjustments too powerful probably so, does that make it broken? Maybe most people like it that way. You have a problem with the pass rush I think it was smooth who said he was getting too many sacks, see different experiences for different people.

You see that other part I highlight, italicized and underlined...see its called an opinion!!!!!

I'm not filling up this forum with more useless banter. I realize that all my complaints are about game play and it's not going to apply to everyone. Some people like recruiting, some people like occasional games against the CPU, etc...My issues with the game aren't going to apply to those people. My issues are mainly going to apply to people who play online competitively. That sure as hell doesn't mean that I should just let it go and hope EA discovers it.

I bitched and bitched and bitched and bitched last year about how terrible shotgun run blocking was and how putrid zone defense was last year. Guess what the two big fixes to the game play were this year? I don't buy for a second that EA doesn't listen. They may not always do something correctly, but they do listen, and as long as I know they're listening, I'm going to give feedback based on what I've seen and hope it gets fixed either with a patch or for the next year's NCAA game.

Fair enough, if you want to continue this banter we will have to somewhere else lets stop clogging up the forum feedback. LOL
