I have started an offline Coaching Carousel career. Going to start as the DC of Idaho.

I am going with somewhat of a model of what Steelerfan is doing for our private OD (Mac-to-Big Ten) in terms of moving to a job.

Any OC or DC job is fair game.
First HC Job has to be at a :3star: or worse school in a non-BCS conference
If I am the HC at a :1star: or :2star: school, I can make the jump to a :3star: school.
Once I'm the HC of a :3star: school, I can only go up to a job that is :1star: more than where I am currently at.
If my contract is 1-2 years, I have to at least stay 1 year.
If my contract is 3-4 years, I have to stay at least 2 years.
If my contract is 5-6 years, I have to stay at least 3 years.
If my contract is 7 years, I have to stay at least 4 years.

I am the DC at Idaho, and here are my contract goals:

Two Year Contract
Fail Impact|Goal|Pass Impact
:3redarrow:|Under 2400 Rush Yards Allowed|:6greenarrow:
|Win 8 Games in One Season|:4greenarrow:

Feel free to comment along with my season as it progresses.

:Idaho: Defensive Player of the Game: SS Trey Williams (So.) - 4 Total Tackles, 2 Solo, 2 ATK, 3 TFL, 1 Sack

This was a crazy game. Idaho gave up 17 first half points; while the offense was anemic. That all changed after coming out of the locker room in the 2nd half as the defense under Coach Bennett stepped it up and shut out the Falcons the entire half, and the offense finally came to life. With 2:00 left in the game, Idaho forced a 3 and out which had two sacks in the possession. The Idaho offense then marched down the field with the final 1:30 to get a go ahead touchdown.

Even though it's only one game, it is never too early to analyze the stats. My rushing yards goal is off to a great start, and it can be a great counter-balance if I don't get 4 wins this year. Thankfully game #2 is against North Dakota, so that should put me halfway to my goal there.

How about a Defensive Player of the game or Impact Player?

Yeah I think North Dakota, San Jose State, and Utah State should be shoe in's and then an upset or two after that. Going to play game two right now.

Hey guys new to the board but not to NCAA Football. Was just wondering if the coaching carousel career is suppose to be only calling plays or actually playing the games. Thanks for your help and thank you for creating such an awesome board. Waiting to dl the roster for 360 when one comes avaliable.

Not the drubbing of an FCS team that I would have liked. The defense was a little bit worse in this game than they were against Bowling Green. With that said, we did pick off two passes, where last week we didn't have any, and our offense was on point this week as well. I don't think anyone can complain starting the season 2-0 in Potato Country! The first true test of the season will come next week as the Vandals travel to previously ranked Texas A&M; who lost their first game of the season to SMU 36-35.

JB, what style defense are you running and are you using a custom book?
So far I'm interested and grats on getting a couple of wins early (I'm happy to have gotten three to start my DC dynasty with a custom school that uses UNT's roster).

After two games, it looks like I'm in good shape with the major goals.

Just need two more wins to avoid :6redarrow:
On pace to only allow 984 rushing yards, well under 2400 which earns me :6greenarrow:
On pace to allow 2802 passing yards, which gives me a little wiggle room to avoid :6redarrow: for under 3400 pass yards allowed

Only change is I added the prowl formation from 3-3-5 and am playing my #2 SS as one of the LBs so it's really-1-4-6 instead of 1-5-5.

Fell asleep early last night, but either tonight or tomorrow, I'm going to hammer some games out...I'm excited to start out 2-0. Now hopefully we can get some more butts to pack the Kibbie Dome as attendance has been sparse to start the year. I feel that even if I get a lucrative offer, I will definitely play out my two-year contract. I'm not in any hurry to get glory.

One more random thought. I totally intend mid-season to institute my custom playbook. I just haven't had the time to sit down for an hour or two to hash one out. I will post what I go with once I finalize it.

As expected, Texas A&M bent me over. It was 7-7 at one point in the first quarter, but then A&M ran off 35 straight points. Anyone going into College Station is going to have trouble, so this game wasn't much of a surprise.

A very ugly start to this game, as Idaho fell down 27-3 in the first half. Idaho's offense sputtered for the first three quarters before pulling within 27-20. The defense once again came out inspired after halftime, shutting Fresno out until the dagger with 1:30 left in the game. Fresno just looked more athletic, and too much for Idaho to start the game, I as the DC just need to get these guys motivated to start the game rather than just come out inspired in the second half.

Hah yeah 2-2 with Idaho isn't too bad though considering one game was at College Station. After next week at Virginia I have a nice stretch of four winnable games. A key stretch that could get Idaho back to being bowl eligible (even though it will probably be the Humanitarian Bowl :D)

My thoughts exactly. I have never had more fun going 0-3 to start a season. In past games, no matter how bad the team, I could do pretty decent just thanks to my stick skills. Now that I have no control over the defense or kicking game (my godforsaken kicker going 0-2 on field goals from 21 yard and 45 yards in the Louisville game :fp:), and with Steelerfan's sliders making it a tough challenge to consistently move the ball on offense each drive, this is some of the most fun I've had with NCAA Football.

This is the type of effort that makes a DC like myself VERY proud. This Vandal defense went on the road against an ACC opponent, and didn't let them score until :34 left in the game. An AMAZING 11 sacks in the game to go with 3 turnovers capped off the best Vandal game in my regime. Very proud of these guys.

It's frustrating when the other 2/3 decides to screw you over again and again, such as red zone failures leading to missed FGs and lost games, but yeah, it definitely is fun. Sometimes it just wears on you, though (having played Tulane 2 years as OC and Army 1 year... now Vandy).

This team just fell flat after a huge win on the road against an ACC opponent. It was very disappointing to see this defense get owned at home to a team that hadn't won a game yet this year. Even though we're 3-3 at this point in the season, this game really put a bad taste in my mouth. Next week we will face another winless team, and I expect nothing but an ass whooping delivered by the Vandals.

I only need one win to avoid the :6redarrow:

Right now I'm on pace to allow 3502 yards, but I only have to get under 3400 in one season, so I shouldn't get the :6redarrow: if I'm off the pace this year.

Some good heart displayed by this defense at the end of the game after an ugly three quarters. Idaho was down by 17 at one point, but thankfully the offense kicked it into gear at the same time the defense did. Idaho just barely avoided giving a winless team their first win for the second week in a row.
