JDewiel: Welcome to the chat everyone! Alex will be joining us shortly, so feel free to start submitting your Road to Glory questions. As a reminder, we will not be taking questions on other areas of the game today.

JDewiel: Lots of good questions so far. Keep them coming. We're going to get started now.

Designer Alex Howell: Thanks for joining us today guys!

Comment From Steve: do we get to return punts and kickoffs

Designer Alex Howell: Not specifically as a PR/KR, but you can return kicks as a WR if you're that position on the depth chart. So that's one way that you can earn points early on as you're fighting to become a starting WR on your college team.

Comment From Kelan: Can you transfer your athlete in Road to Glory?

Designer Alex Howell: No, you will not be able to transfer your athlete in Road to Glory.

Comment From Javet James: If you cant adjust the time form 5min quarters will there be a DLC or update so we can play longer quarters and get actual game stats

Designer Alex Howell: This year the entire high school experience was built around the new progression system and recruiting process. So changing the quarter lengths would give distinct advantages/disadvantages to other players. We are defiantly interested in this and we are looking into it for future versions of the game.

Comment From Jamie Brown: Has the presentation changed any or will it still be the same Erin Andrews setup?

Designer Alex Howell: Yes, presentation has received a huge overhaul from last year. All of the replays, cut scenes, and montages are all now focused completely on your Road to Glory player. all of the entrances and presentation during regular games is also a part of Road to Glory. This really adds to immersion and makes you feel like the center of attention.

Comment From Coll3g3Boy: can we upload a college team from teambuilder to play for on road to glory

Designer Alex Howell: You are able to create a high school team using the TeamBuilder feature and bring that team into your RTG.

Comment From Earl: How deep is the customization for creating your high school?

Designer Alex Howell: In RTG, you can play Iron-man Football, Import your TeamBuilder team, and in college, you can you the upgrade store to make your ideal college football player.

Designer Alex Howell: There's lots of options there that will keep you busy and happy with the overall experience.

Comment From Merck: Is the AI better for QBs because what I was a running back my QB averaged like 6 picks a game

Designer Alex Howell: Yes, the AI and the overall playcalling received a lot of attention this year and are vastly improved.

Designer Alex Howell: There's also a level you can unlock in Coach Trust in College that allows you to choose from more plays if you don't like the play that you are given.

Comment From Andrew Guest: Will playing both ways in the high school season kill your player's game fatigue?

Designer Alex Howell: No it won't. Like most high school stars that play both ways, your stamina is going to be really good and you'll make it through the game. Now if you're handing the ball off to your guy 30 times, he's going to be tired and need to sit out, but you won't be penalized for playing both ways.

Comment From Greg: How does the the "Coach Trust" system work for positions besides quarterbacks? Will you have more plays specifically for your position? Like for a RB?

Designer Alex Howell: Sorry guys, we ran into a small connection issue on our end.

Designer Alex Howell: Coach Trust is specifically designed with each position in mind. So you'll have a completely different experience going through the levels with a WR then you would with a QB and your practices will focus on your player.

Comment From Brensen: Do you get to pick unirforms this year in RTG??

Designer Alex Howell: Yes, you can choose from 36 different variety sets of uniforms with each set having 15 different colors for primary and secondary. You can also import your TeamBuilder team as your own uniform.

Comment From Geryl: What improvements have been made to road to glory?

Designer Alex Howell: A lot. :) Check out http://ncaafootball.easports.com/home.action for the full list of details.

Comment From Jason Martin: Do you have to play both sides of the ball?

Designer Alex Howell: No, it is 100% up to you, but it's a great time and a suggest that everyone tries it out at least once.

Comment From Guest: how come Brock Luker was 85 overall in his freshmen season after like 2 games?

Designer Alex Howell: Brock used the upgrade store in college to bump up his overall so that he could have a better shot of taking the position over in a position battle.

Comment From Javet James: Will you be able to play both sides of the ball in College?

Designer Alex Howell: No, the Iron-Man option is restricted to the high school experience.

Comment From Steve: Say if you want to be a RB on offense and a DT on Defense in RTG Highschool is that possible?

Designer Alex Howell: Yes, you can pick any two combinations of positions to play. SO you can be a QB and a LB if you want to or a RB and DT like you suggested.

Comment From Andrew: What are some of the differences between packages at the upgrade store?

Designer Alex Howell: Great question!

Designer Alex Howell: Each item has different properties. So some only last one game while others last your entire career. Each position has their own specific items so you won't have QBs getting defensive lineman items. Also, each item has a rarity level which works into each week having 6 different items in the store.

Comment From Ross: At what point in your Senior season will you begin to receive college offers? after the first game or after the last game or somewhere in between?

Designer Alex Howell: Great question Ross!

Designer Alex Howell: Once you initially start up RTG, you get to choose three teams from the start to add to your college choices board. After every game, you will have the option to choose between three different school to add to your college choices board. At the beginning of the season, you'll be recruited by smaller schools based on the location of your high school. As you gain more recruiting points and become a high star leveled athlete, you will start to get more schools from across the nation making offers to you.

Comment From William Reid: Does school prestiege affect player development. Meaning do you earn less exerience point on teams with lower prestiege.

Designer Alex Howell: No, school prestiege has no affect on your own personal progression. There have been plenty of NFL stars that have come from small schools. Instantly, Jerry Rice and DeMarcus Ware come to mind.

Comment From Alec: How often do position battles happen through out the college season? Are there any before the season starts or is it just during the season?

Designer Alex Howell: The battles will happen at every position and take place during the season when you've earned enough Coach trust points to fight for the position above you.

Comment From Lamont: Does your player have a higher risk of injury playing both sides of the ball

Designer Alex Howell: No we are not looking to penalize you for playing both sides of the ball.

Comment From Zack Reinhart: What would you say is the biggest difference in last years RTG to this years?

Designer Alex Howell: The new High School experience, the new recruiting process, the Coach Trust in college, the upgrade store, and the legend specific presentation make this year's experience a completely revamped mode.

Comment From Ross: Does the upgrade store cost real life money? Or is this where you use XP points to upgrade your player?

Designer Alex Howell: Great question!

Designer Alex Howell: No, you will be able to use your XP points in the upgrade store. You will never have to use real money to upgrade your player in the upgrade store.

Comment From Blake: just to make things clear, we can't pick kr/pr as a position, but we can become the kr/pr if we are the highest rated for those positions on our team (i.e. #1 on depth chart) correct? also, will we be able to do kr/pr in hs season, and if so, how is that determined?

Designer Alex Howell: Correct. it is determined by your overall. So if you're the #1 overall WR, you'll be returning kicks as well.

Comment From Jay Mack: Are there any events during the week like "Hit the Gym" or "Study Playbook", that can add to Coach Trust?

Designer Alex Howell: No, we took out all of the events. Everything that you do in practice and in game such as complete passes, INTs, TDs, yards gained, etc both positively and negatively affect your coach trust. It's a fluctuating system that goes up and down based on how well you do.

Comment From Austin: If you add a school to your 'choices board' does that make said school more likely to offer you a scholarship?

Designer Alex Howell: Once you add a school to your college choices board, you'll then have to earn a specific amount of recruiting points to earn a scholarship. Based on the schools prestige, it will take different amounts to get scholarships from different schools.

Comment From Greg: When you initially create your RTG player in high school, if I was playing as Iron Man style and I was doing Wide Receiver and Free Safety would I choose something like "Speed" for WR and "Coverage" for FS or is that where the XP system comes into effect?

Designer Alex Howell: No, the XP system is for college. In High School your progression system is based off of your star level. So the higher recruiter guy you are, the better you become. 1 star < 5 Star.

Comment From Peter S.: Do you have to use teambuilder teams as your opponents in high school or can you edit their school names

Designer Alex Howell: All the options that you have to create your own team in game, you'll also have to create your opponents.

Designer Alex Howell: War Eagle!

Designer Alex Howell: Thanks for joining us today. Make sure you download the demo on June 28th and pick up the game on July 12th!

JDewiel: And that's a wrap! Be on the lookout for another NCAA Football 12 chat soon! Don't forget to "Like" us on Facebook: www.Facebook.com/EASPORTSNCAAFootball for all of the latest info!

Good stuff!

Didn't feel like sitting through the chat or anything, but it's definitely a good read. Nice to see so much attention being paid to one of my favorite modes in any sports game (the My Player, RTG, Superstar, etc mode).

I think you're going to dig this. Unlocking abilities as you progress in college is pretty cool.

Out of respect for JBHuskers' forthcoming article on Road to Glory and Q&A with designer Alex Howell--and to avoid an amateur Q&A of our own taking over this thread again--I'm going to hold off on answering anything until the article is posted.

Save all of the Road to Glory questions you can think of until that point, and then post what you have all at once if there are still questions that were not answered either through today's Live Chat or through JB's article. At that point we'll see if we can give answers to those questions.

Speaking of that article, it should be done tonight or tomorrow. Then has to go through EA's marketing okay before it's posted there and here.

when can we expect the article

Probably early next week. I gotta finish up a couple of things on it tonight and submit it. The Q&A has to be cleared by marketing as this will be posted both on EA's site and here.
