In Deus Ex: Human Revolution you play Adam Jensen, a security specialist, handpicked to oversee the defense of one of America's most experimental biotechnology firms. But when a black ops team breaks in and kills the scientists you were hired to protect, everything you thought you knew about your job changes. At a time when scientific advancements are routinely turning athletes, soldiers and spies into super-enhanced beings, someone is working very hard to ensure mankind's evolution follows a particular path. You need to discover why - because the decisions you take and the choices you make will be the only things that can determine mankind's future.

Yep, I'm all over this. The absolutely only thing that I KNOW is going to happen is that I'll stop playing 3/4 of the way through because it's so long. Oh well, I think it looks sweet.

LOVE the first two (even though the 2nd one was horribly buggy and made it where I couldn't beat it because it bugged out 75% through the game and I got stuck in a room I couldn't leave without the game crashing).

I need to go back and play the first one again to gear up for this one. The good old days of PC gaming. Hopefully this lives up to the incredible hype surrounding it.

pre-ordered on steam and am playing through the first one...anyone have any luck in modding (upgrading) the textures for the older one?

There's this (http://www.moddb.com/mods/deus-ex-enhanced) but I'm not sure how good it actually is as I've never tried it.

Anyone getting this? I think I'm going to go flop down a preorder at GS so I can get their bonus when I pick it up Tuesday.

Definitely getting this. Not sure if I'm gonna get it for the PC or the 360 yet. Haven't decided, but definitely getting it.

Did any one else pick this up? I just got it today and was about to start playing it.

So, I'm guessing you don't have to have played the past two to play this one?

morsdraconis

Don't have it yet. Will have it for the PC sometime soon.

As for having to play the other two, absolutely not. It's a prequel to the first one so you're not missing anything by not playing the first two.

Wonder if this sells well, if they do an HD remake of the other two....

Well, the 2nd one was so horribly buggy, I got like 75% through the game and go stuck in a room where if I left, it crashed to the desktop no matter what I did. It REALLY sucked cause I fuckin' love the 2nd game. It's REALLY REALLY good, but man, the bugs were truly game killers (and they never fixed them).

FYI, it's only $39.99 for the PC download through Amazon right now, and you get the Tactical Enhancement Pack as well for buying it from them (adds the Huntsman Silverback double-barrel shotgun (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html/ref=amb_link_357264922_2?location=http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/videogames/promo/DeusEx_GoldShotgun.gif&token=957BBB0669152D76BE1C614537975585163C1748&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=1KSX0TYCBDP02JMY1ZKY&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1315081122&pf_rd_i=B005HRZ29K) and the Longsword Whisperhead Suppressed extreme range sniper rifle (http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html/ref=amb_link_357264922_3?location=http://g-ecx.images-amazon.com/images/G/01/videogames/promo/DeusEx_SniperRifle.gif&token=957BBB0669152D76BE1C614537975585163C1748&pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=hero-quick-promo&pf_rd_r=1KSX0TYCBDP02JMY1ZKY&pf_rd_t=201&pf_rd_p=1315081122&pf_rd_i=B005HRZ29K) to your weapon arsenal).

Right now, the game has a score of 89 on Metacritic. (http://http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/deus-ex-human-revolution) Seems to be well worth the purchase. I plan on purchasing it from Amazon since it's only $40, but I gotta put some money in my account tomorrow to pay for it.

I'm enjoying it so far. I've realized I'm not the stealthy type in this game lol. But it's pretty amazing thus far. I got it for PS3 by the way.

If you didn't already like gamestop this will give you another reason, though I agree with their logic. (http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-501465_162-20096792-501465.html)

There is a whole thread on this in the OT.

That said I am picking this on up today.

This game is absolutely amazing so far. There are some bugs, but, for the most part, it's the best game of the year. The augmentation elements are very well done. The hacking minigame is hard and VERY enjoyable. The story, so far, is very interesting. Kinda reminds me of Die Hard in some spots, which is very cool.

Only issue I've had, is some poor scripting that caused me to have to wait to do a side quest (apparently, I'm not far enough in the main story or something to do that particular side quest).

The stealth aspects are very difficult, though I imagine they're much easier once you get the invisibility augmentations.

I am early into this one but for cripes sake everyone in the game is a dead eye shot. The cover system takes a bit getting used to and I can't hit anything when I shoot over my head. One thing about this game is that it will definitely force you to be creative.

That's what I like about the game the most. It's "realistic" in it's approach to the enemies, the amount of damage you can take, and you own abilities. Of course, as you move along, you become more superhuman because of the augmentations, but, even still, you're certainly not unstoppable.

So far this is my GOTY. I have not even looked at NCAA 12 and doubt I will spend much time with Madden 12 until this one is done and even when it is done, there is plenty to go back and do again.

:+1:

I spent 9 hours playing it the day I got it. 9 hours. I haven't done that with a game since probably Final Fantasy X.

Heh, it feels almost like I have played that much. I failed on a couple things early on and did not pick the right augmentations (never waited for 2 so I could get the one I wanted) so I decided to delete all my saves and started from the beginning.

Damn, reading that makes me want to fire up some of the old Final Fantasies again. Thank god I finally found my power cord for my PS2, so I can actually play them if I get the urge to.

Yeah man. I could play FFX again in a heartbeat. That game was really good, as are the old ones (4, 5, and 6).

I rented this game over the weekend to hold me over til Madden came out and now I MUST have this game! The only problem is I can't frickin' afford another game in my game budget. I guess I may have to go back to Blockbuster and spend the $24 a month to get the Gamepass and keep it til Batman comes out in Oct

Loving the game so much, I started a new game on the hardest difficulty trying to go the entire game without killing someone. So far, so good, but I'm getting to the first really hard place to get past.

I run into that alot as well, but man these guys shoot straight, I do like the fact that you can kill someone and if the others do not see you they shoot at your last location, exactly like it works on SC conviction (minus the shadow effect). I have been shooting one guy then ghosting most of the others. Its pure joy.

Not to mention a seemingly well written storyline.

I've done the ghosting method as well. This game is just awesome.

Not a spoiler as she is found early on in the game but after my interaction with her, I just knew this would be coming.

Only the fine folks at TIME would allow such dribble. Where is the article pointing out all the white bums roaming around Future Detroit?

Now just waiting for PETA to get their two cents in

since that bitch friend of Megan euthanized our dog.

So, I just beat this last night. Man, was it fun. The only problem I have with the game is that the bosses are extremely difficult compared to the rest of the game. When a game is centered around stealth and precision, it's a bit of a pain when it, all of a sudden, isn't about that at all and you're still a weakling trying to stand up against someone that can take hundreds of bullets before they die, compared to you taking, at the most, 10, before you die.

The bosses were brutal and that was playing on normal. I also ran into the, if I see one more highlighted cardboard box that I need to move to find some goodies, I might just shoot it.

I shot them.

Yeah. But that's normal stuff for stealth games. Gotta make it hard to find all the good stuff.

Sooner or later, I'm gonna go through the game again and try to beat it on the hardest difficulty (I, as well, beat it on Normal) while being nothing but stealth/no killing. Gonna be hard as hell because the highest difficulty adds more people you have to avoid.
