This thread might just be me and psuexv? :D

But oh well, fire away.

And just as I type Carlos Pena FINALLY hits his first HR as a Cub.

At least I had him in one league...the one league I had him in...a SICK day of pitching:

Dempster, Latos, K-Rod and Fuentes for R, Liriano, and Ogando all pitching tonight:

29.1 INN, 1.23 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 4 QS, 18 K

I have him in one league. The one league where I definitely felt like I tore up the draft.

Montero, Dunn, Pedroia, A-Ram, Rollins, Kemp, Braun, Crawford, Soriano (picked up off waivers :D), Zobrist

Hanson, Haren, Scherzer, Hellickson, Shields, Kennedy, Norris, Kimbrel, Walden, Putz, Venters (holds count)

psuexv
05-04-2011, 08:47 AM
That's not bad... Soriano is sitting out there right now and I'm hesitant to go get him. No SB and his average is low. Zobrist and Berkman are also there... I need to grab Berkman asap

psuexv
05-04-2011, 08:54 AM
Ok made it happen... grabbed Berkman and dropped a pitcher DL... and dropped Delmon Young for Zobrist... even if Young comes back healthy I'll take Zobrist.

No wonder....I'm in 12 and 14 team leagues....NO WAY Zobrist and Soriano would still be out there. :D Soriano only leads the majors in HR's.

Yeah don't get rid of weeks. Delmong Young was poised to have a big year, but this injury makes it a questions now. Zobrist is currently a top ten OVERALL player in fantasy for the entire season (mostly thanks to that double dip)...and he should be solid the rest of the year.

psuexv

Yeah but the rest of his stats suck... well kind of.

Yeah I've run a $ fantasy football league for 12 years now going into (maybe) season....I've had last minute f'ers drop out, and I have to scramble. One year I was absolutely stuck with an odd number of teams, and thankfully I found a schedule set up that allowed for double header weeks where you play against two different teams in the same week, and in the end everyone has played the same amount of matchups.

I'll keep you in mind. It wouldn't be the first time. One year I had a guy in Cali, and a guy in PA, and there is an ol' college buddy of mine who has been in the league almost from the beginning who's in North Dakota.

I don't know because he sucked it up in NYC last year.

In my CBS points league, I had him as a keeper for a while. Dropped his ass two years ago I think.

JBHuskers
05-06-2011, 04:09 PM
Yeah I keep forgetting there are 4 people in your league :P Yeah the only league I need a 1B in, I have no one to drop....I sure as hell won't drop Zobrist or Dunn. Zobrist is on fire, and Dunn will turn it around. Plus I'm happy with all my pitchers in that league too.

psuexv
05-09-2011, 09:07 AM
My pitchers need to start producing wins. How in the world does Cliff Lee throw 7 innings, strike out 16 and get no decisions... come on.

BTW - Oswalt on the DL

JBHuskers
05-09-2011, 09:08 AM
I stayed away from Oswalt this year, his draft position was overinflated due to him having a good year last year and being on the Phillies this year. So I don't even have him in any leagues.

JBHuskers

You would have thought that with the craptastic seasons he put up in Pittsburgh

Yeah on Sportscenter last night, they showed a 2004-2009 comparison to 2010-2011 ... it was laughable. 10 less AB's/HR in the past two seasons compared with the rest of his career. 16 HR already this year....waiting for a positive steroid test :D (the sad assumption of today's baseball game)

psuexv
05-16-2011, 01:21 PM
It just really baffles me how the Pirates bring these guys up and the team sucks and then they dish them off and they are valuable pieces to other teams. Aramis Ramirez is a good example... how many really good years did he have with the Cubs?

JBHuskers
05-16-2011, 01:23 PM
Well considering we really didn't have a great 3B since Ronnie Santo....any consistency was welcome when he came over LOL

psuexv
05-18-2011, 11:40 AM
Liriano is so freaking up and down it's ridiculous. After the no-no and then gets shelled he comes out and throws 7, scatters 3 hits and gives up 1 ER striking out 9

JBHuskers
05-23-2011, 10:01 AM
Utley off the DL today. I drafted him in round four of one league. Thankfully I drafted Neil Walker late too, so it didn't hurt me too much. On top of that, I picked up Darwin Barney, who NOBODY would have expected he was a top 100 fantasy player this year.

JBHuskers
05-26-2011, 10:46 AM
Buster Posey breaks his leg. I only have him in my free dynasty league. Helluva player though.

psuexv
06-02-2011, 08:15 AM
Salas really sucked it up last night. Blew the Save, gave up a walk, gave up a ER and didn't salvage a W. Talk about affecting most fantasy stat categories.

JBHuskers
06-02-2011, 08:26 AM
Couple of young Mikes (Stanton and Morse) are tearing it up for me right now.

JBHuskers
06-03-2011, 11:22 AM
I just pulled off a hell of a trade, and it was offered to me.

I get Miggy Cabrera.

He gets James Shields.

I'm STACKED at pitcher with Haren, Hanson, Gallardo, Sherzer, Hellickson, and Kennedy. My 1B are Dunn and Zobrist, both struggling right now. So I think this could really get me on a run.

JBHuskers
06-15-2011, 03:35 PM
Finally dumped Adam Dunn for Michael Morse...hope it doesn't come back to bite me in the ass, but I have lost my paitence.

All four $ leagues right now I am in either 2nd or 3rd overall.... My CBS points league I started 0-4, now I'm 6-4 and up by 60 over my opponent early on thanks to Verlander and Shields. It would have been a much better lead, but Ogando decided to shit the bed last night and got me almost -10 points.

JBHuskers
06-16-2011, 02:42 PM
Made another major drop today....got rid of Max Scherzer. Going to give Ryan Dempster another go.

Yep got him in one league.

Two high profile guys to grab (because they are probably FA's) Vernon Wells & Edinson Volquez. Wells has had a good couple weeks back off the DL, Volquez has put together two or three straight solid starts since being called back up.

psuexv
06-17-2011, 10:43 AM
yeah Alex Avila is a nice catcher to pick up as well. I grabbed him a couple of weeks ago, really starting to put up some nice numbers. Up to an 80% start rate on Yahoo.

JBHuskers
06-17-2011, 02:14 PM
Hafner back off the DL but don't expect to use him much the next two weeks as he will be pinch hitting only on the road for interleague play.

I had already cut him prior to the DL because he was starting to slump pretty good for a couple of weeks.

Cards GM: Pujols out closer to 6-7 weeks: In a radio interview with Sirius XM MLB Network, Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak confirmed that Albert Pujols will be out closer to 6-7 weeks as opposed to the initial 4-6 week timetable that had been announced on Tuesday. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported that Pujols will require four weeks in a cast before he can return to baseball-related activities. He was officially placed on the 15-day disabled list on Tuesday afternoon. Pujols, however, seems more optimistic about a quicker return. "I'm expecting that," he said. "I've healed pretty well from injuries in the past, and I'm praying to hopefully have one of those in my bag still. Obviously there's no treatment that I can do, but I'll keep my legs in shape and work out and do what I'm able to do without making it worse. Hopefully whenever I'm ready to play, swing the bat and I'll be ready to go."

07-05-2011, 12:57 PM
I just picked up Vance Worley today in one of my leagues, and this alert pops up in Yahoo....

Vance Worley has been dropped by 2155 teams in Yahoo! leagues

That's 2155 idiots that don't realize that he was sent to AAA to keep on his pitching schedule during the All-Star break :D :D :D

As long as I get to draft the farm versions of the Kansas City Royals.

I just stashed away Josh Johnson in three leagues since they now changed the status to he may still pitch again this year. Also found Strasburg in one of my leagues in FA, so I stashed him away too.

In my CBS points like this is the FOURTH straight year where I've been a #1 or #2 overall seed and lose in the first round :fp: Thankfully I get a decent chunk of change for winning the division. Eight teams made the playoffs here.

Already was knocked out in the first round of my 14 team league where 8 made the playoffs.

However I barely squeaked by in my other two money leagues to make the final four. I play the top seed in both matchups where I'm still alive.

Unfortunately, this year for some dumb reason Yahoo's tiebreaker for the playoffs is head to head wins in the season, so I have to win at least 5-4 to take 3rd. Unfortunately 4th doesn't cash. I picked up some guys that have had really good OBP in the past week, and also picked up pitchers to fill out the starting staff since this is a weekly lineup league.

I have 2 more starters going than he does, so I should catch him in K's at the very least, if I can't catch him in wins or OBP.

These three late pickups are what have led me to a fantasy baseball championship....(stats from last 30 days)

http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s159/jbennett98/11baseball.jpg

My other playoffs, I'm down, but if I can get the lead in HR's (we're tied) and K's (I'm down 4 with Carpenter tonight, he's done pitching)...I'll take 3rd.
