Looking to find out if anyone knows of a new NCAA baseball series? or MLB MVP baseball series?

Nothing announced yet, but it is being speculated as one of EA SPORTS' new titles.

2K's deal ends next year, and no signs of that getting extended yet.

No way there's another NCAA baseball game. If EA can hardly sell NCAA basketball, baseball has no shot.

baseball extention runs out next year.. does the EA and madden contract end as well? If EA extends so will 2K.

and NCAA baseball was a pretty big hit in 05 and 06.. i dont know why it would not sell

EA and Madden were extended this year because of the lockout -- now goes through 2013.

Thanks Jeff. Thats good news that they will not extend. Iactually enjoyed the EA baseball Series more. Do you think EA will continue the Football one? Id like to see some competition, it seems to push the teams harder to make a better game.

oh an that means EA can make a baseball game next year?

EA will continue the exclusive license as long as it makes financial sense. There have been several reports over the last year that it was actually the NFL that asked for an exclusive deal, and had the publishers bid on it, rather than EA asking for it. I would think the NFL would want to continue exclusive licenses (they sure made a lot of money off of this one), and if that's the case then I would imagine that EA would continue paying for it.

The MLB license expires in 2012. That would suggest that EA could possibly release a baseball game next year. I did see an article recently that downplayed the idea that EA was already working on a new baseball title, but I can't find it right now.

I would love to have a PS3 version of a NCAA baseball game. LOVED playing both those games to death.

According to VGChartz, NCAA 06 sold 600k just on PS2 alone (which is all the data they have for any of the NCAA Baseball games)....I wouldn't rule it out 100% that they would do an NCAA Baseball game again, but I think MVP would come first.

Where do you guys get this info from? if they sold that many on PS2 i wonder how many they sold for the orig. X-box

VGChartz.com

They only had PS2 data, not the original XBOX.

IF MVP 06 followed the same trend as MVP 05 when comparing PS2 & Xbox, MVP 06 sold around 300k. That's probably the HIGH mark... for MVP 07, I imagine the sales fell off dramatically for both.

Yeah once word that the all they did with the rosters on 07 was take them from one team (i.e. Georgia Tech) and make that another team's rosters....along with not that many improvements. I was pissed when I heard what they did with the rosters.

Yeah 06 was first followed by 07, and that was it.

I'd be perfectly happy with a one-and-done NCAA baseball game for the PS3. Just one. I could play that game for a few years before they decided to make another one and be very happy.

Yeah considering the 360 version isn't backwards compatible, and my PS3 isn't either. I sold my PS2 to a buddy of mine a couple years ago.

Unless the Collegiate Licensing Company was willing to license the baseball teams at a severely reduced cost (compared to other sports), I can't see NCAA Baseball coming back.

Didn't MVP Baseball used to be the Triple Play series?

Yeah it was the first over the overhauls for EA Sports games... followed by NHL and now I guess NBA.

MVP series was way better than 2k.. in my opinion

Competition is good, but The Show has such a huge head start that it would be tough to make an impact on the ps3.

Since Southern Miss is nationally ranked, this game should come out while my school is hot.

Courtesy IndustryGamers.com (http://www.industrygamers.com/news/ea-sports-mvp-baseball-to-return/):

Speaking to IndustryGamers (as the head of EA Sports before being promoted to EA COO), Peter Moore informed us that the "majority" of the team that worked on the MVP Baseball series are still employed at EA Sports. "There’s enough people at Sports who would say 'I’m in.' And we’ve got enough quality talent that’s been around a long time. You would start from scratch because this would be something where you’d have to build the engine again because it’s been a few years," he said.

Or something that may have been being built for a couple of years now?

It doesn't sound like MVP Baseball will be returning anytime soon.

The 2K Sports third-party exclusive with MLB recently expired. Are there current negotiations taking place between EA Sports and Major League Baseball?

No, we’re not. Do I like baseball? Absolutely, I’m a huge baseball fan. But right now, we’re focusing on the franchises we’ve got. We’re focused on doing the UFC, and making it big and global. Is there an opportunity for us to do something with baseball one day? I hope so. But are we doing anything with baseball today? It’s just not something we’re working on right now.

:D I know the feeling. With South Carolina winning the last two National Championships, I would love to see another NCAA Baseball game before they cool off.

This team has come a long way since the start of the season. If you had asked me back in April if SC would make it back to the CWS, I would have said no way. I got my fingers crossed, that's for sure. I would love to see a 3-peat.
