I would like to thank you for visiting NCAA Playbook, I go by the name of Oneback and a lot of you may have already run across some of my work here on The Gaming Tailgate or any of the other forums I’ve been a part of relating to the NCAA Football series. I’ve played NCAA Football year round since 2003 and have participated in numerous leagues and online dynasties since. Before NCAA ‘03 I mainly played Madden and the 2K Sports NFL series and have always been drawn to the chess match the game of football presents. Throughout the years I have attempted to teach the game to other fans and is what I intend to do here at NCAA Playbook (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/content.php?383-NCAA-Playbook).

I grew up playing football and spent a lot of time with my coaches trying to understand why we were doing the things we were and after college I spent most of my time volunteer coaching with a few different local high schools. A family and increasing responsibilities in my career have limited the time for my true love. However, through the NCAA Series and the various “write-ups” I have done, I’ve been able to stay connected to the strategy aspect of the game.

As I mentioned earlier my goal with NCAA Playbook is to have a medium which I am able to share my knowledge of the game and to hopefully help make the game better. I have thought about starting this up for awhile but the recent Operations Sports article entitled “Why Line Play Will Never Be Realistic in Football Games” (http://www.operationsports.com/features/1254/why-line-play-will-never-be-realistic-in-football-games/) and my recent involvement in the NCAA Football 12 community days pushed me towards kicking this off.

So in response to the Operation Sports article I plan to cover line play quite a bit early on, starting off with the inside zone blocking scheme and progressing to pass blocking schemes. I will not only cover the techniques used by the offensive line but the reactions by the defense to each blocking scheme and how it relates to the game as it is now and in some cases what needs to be done to make it more realistic.

There will be a lot of true to life football terminology and I realize offensive line play isn’t a sexy topic, but when trying to make something better, you must start from the core and work your way out.

I hope you enjoy your time and find the articles insightful and hopefully thought provoking as I will start various discussion threads on The Gaming Tailgate (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?6) for those that want to join in on the conversation. Be sure to follow on Twitter (http://twitter.com/ncaaplaybook).

I will be more than happy to take suggestions on areas of focus as we go on so feel free to reach out with any thoughts, comments or concerns.

Again, enjoy your stay here at NCAA Playbook,

Oneback

I will subscribe to this one, that article on OS was spot on, I am not sure I would want a realistic DL 2.1-2.5 seconds to throw the ball, now I shouldn't have 5-10 sec either.

Seems like an interesting topic in the making, great stuff!

In college it's more like 4 seconds.
