View Full Version : March 21st, 2011 -- The Day The Madden NFL 12 PR Push Begins

We all know that here at The Gaming Tailgate the focus tends to fall more on NCAA Football than Madden NFL--for any number of reasons--but the PR push for Madden NFL 12 is beginning tomorrow, apparently in partnership with ESPN. Just wanted to create this thread ahead of time so that people can post links--and pictures or video if we get any media--here as the information is sent out tomorrow.

Some "leads" on where the PR information will show up, courtesy of Twitter in chronological order:

ESPN_JRob Cool @EAMaddenNFL 12 news coming Monday on @espn

EAMaddenNFL Madden NFL fans, the wait is almost over! We have some BIG #Madden NFL 12 news coming next week and the 1st Madden NFL 12 video of the year!

EASPORTS Big, perhaps reassuring, news coming Monday and you're all involved. Retweet and follow because you won't want to miss this.

EA_SPORTS_Rob It's been a LONG day working towards our #madden announcement on Monday. I know it will all be worth it. Can't wait to see the reaction!

JasonRomano Don't forget that big @EAMaddenNFL news is coming out tomorrow on ESPN shows. Really awesome stuff

EAnthonyS Big announce in the morning Madden Tweebles. About to board a flight to ESPN HQ in Bristol, and I got some friends with me...

ESPN_JRob @EASPORTS @EAMaddenNFL Working on my Madden NFL 12 article for tomorrow. Check @espn Monday for the latest.

ESPN_FirstTake Guests on Monday's show --- Christian Laettner, Oklahoma RB DeMarco Murray, Browns Peyton Hillis and a special surprise NFL guest. 10am est ESPN2

Looks like we're getting an entry from Jon Robinson on the ESPN Gamer Blog--which is where the first NCAA Football 12 screenshot was featured last week--as well as some coverage on TV as well. Based on the quote from Anthony Stevenson--one of the EA SPORTS PR guys--and the ESPN First Take quote, it wouldn't surprise me to see some Madden NFL 12 stuff at 10AM EST on ESPN2.

The announcement of an overhauled franchise mode has to be part of the news.

Madden 11 has always felt like Madden 10.5. People have been looking ahead to Madden 12 before Madden 11 was even released. This feels like a significant year.

I'm fearful that the unrest in CBA negotiations is going to kill a huge Franchise Mode overhaul. If they gave us everything we feel is missing, it may be obsolete when a new CBA gets done (and therefore useless beyond 12). If a deal isn't in place by August, I'm leaning towards Madden 14 being the year of Franchise upgrades. I'm treading very lightly with any Franchise expectations and I'm expecting most of the improvements to be in Presentation and Gameplay. I'd also expect improvements to MUT, OTP, and the addition of another silly mode that won't budge me from my overall lack of interest in Madden.

The Madden team has their work cut out if they're going to impress me. I just don't feel it's going to happen. I hope I'm wrong.
