They are the movie icons from the old black and white days and we all have to admit that we love them. The Three Stooges are a franchise that is as magical as magical can be. Now it appears they are coming back to a big screen near you. You might not want to admit it, but you're probably interested in checking it out too!

Directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly, not to be confused with Moe, Larry or Curley, have been inching toward the production of this project for some time and now it appears it will become a reality. The talk is of Benecio Del Toro playing Moe and Johnny Knoxville having a role of some sort as well. The new Stooges are reportedly going to be seen on the big screen in 2012.

Peter Farrelly says the movie is natural slap-stick and can be funny as a PG film. The Farrelly Brothers are also saying that a complete unknown will likely play one of the Stooges.

I was a big fan of the old Stooges movies when I was a kid.

Wasn't Sean Penn supposedly one of the stooges? (No joke, thought I heard he and del Toro mentioned a while back for this.)

Del Toro would do a great job, IMO

I agree. Not too sure on Knoxville though. An actor he is not.

It depends on the role for him. He wouldn't be able to carry one of the stooges but he wasn't bad in MIB2 and Walking Tall.

When I read the thread title, I thought, "they'll probably destroy this by casting Johnny Knoxville." Sigh.
