The Longhorns are reported to be starting 5th year senior QB Connor Wood in the LoneStar Showdown against A&M while sophomore Carlos McDaniel nurses his back spasms suffered against Oregon. 2 weeks so he should be ready for the bowl game (National Championship or Rose Bowl).

Another questionable performance by VT against an underdog.

Early in the season, Virginia Techs Minor was running for 100+ yards a game, Some games, he eclipsed the 200 yard mark. The Hokies passing game was not even needed even though they have a star QB. Since the Shut-out by Miami, it's as if the team just does not want to play the game anymore. Minor took the ball for 67 yards on the day. The On the opening possession, Minor manages to fumble the ball over to the tar-heels and NC scored a TD off the turnover. This was one of two fumbles by the Hokies that was recovered by NC. The hokies kicker missed two field goals early but managed to take the lead with a FG early in the 4th quarter. The following possession they held NC to a 3 and out, only to fumble the ball back on their first play from scrimmage on the following drive which led to another touchdown by the tarheels. NC missed the XP. It seemed as if time was running out for the hokies but they manage to put one in the endzone with 57 seconds left in the game. NC started lighting the field up, breaking tackles, making unbelievable caches and marching their way to the 48 yard line. On 3rd down, they go for the home run ball, which they had obviously sprinkled pixie dust on, as the ball passed through 2 hokie defensive back's hands, no we mean passed through their hands like a ghost and hit the NC receivers hands in the back of the end zone. The pixie dust apparently had a lubricating effect as well, as the receiver somehow dropped this pass. on 4th, the ball was turned over on downs and Booth kneels on the ball to run out the clock. The NC coach decided to be a jackass, with one timeout left and 6 seconds left in the game on first down, he decided to call Time after the first kneel. On 2nd down, with 6 seconds left in the game and no time outs, he decided to call a quarters prevent defense???

The now 1-9 Bruins put up a considerable fight early, going into halftime down 21-17, while most of the press in attendance derided the Aggies for looking ahead to the Lone Star Showdown next week, or just plain disrespecting UCLA by playing all backups on defense in the first half.

In the second half, it was a different story, as UCLA was shutout for the entire half, and Texas A&M rolled to a 55-17 victory. HB Mister Jones eclipsed the 1000 yard mark for the season, while backfield-mate Ben Malena added 86 yards and 1 TD.
