So far, the roster includes:
John Cena
The Rock
Andre the Giant
Bret Hart
Rey Mysterio
Triple H
John Morrison
"Macho Man" Randy Savage
Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat
Big Show
Kofi Kingston
Sheamus
The Million Dollar Man (GameStop Exclusive)
Ted Dibiase (GameStop Exclusive)

"Now, lots of games say crap like "easy to pick up but deep," but I'm happy to tell you that it looks like THQ isn't BSing us this time When I was just getting a feel for the controls, I was still pulling off fantastical stuff -- I made Rey Mysterio run up Andre the Giant's chest, leap to the top rope, and then fire off an attack. That's amazingly awesome to watch and satisfying to do. When I had built up a finisher, it was a simple pair of button presses to pull off and see Bret the Hitman Hart grab his opponent and throw him into the Sharpshooter for the KO.

As I got the hang of that stuff, the strategy and depth of the game began to shine through. When someone's grabbing for you, you can reverse it with a button press and perform the grab on them. They can reverse it as well to get a chain going. When you knock guys down, they're going to get up pretty quickly to keep WWE All Stars frantic pace, but every other time you drop an opponent, they'll glow red letting you know that you can perform a move without the fear of them popping right back up.

Layered on that base stuff are character classes. Big Men are slow but are hard to knock down, while Acrobats can connect from the top rope pretty much anywhere in the ring and run without draining their extreme signature move bar as quickly. Each class has its own pros and cons."

People are saying it's the most fun they've had with a wrestling game since "No Mercy"? I may have to look into this one. I love WM2K and No Mercy. The games haven't been the same since.

Honestly, most of the "big" names of the past (1980s-1990s) are in this game. I guess we could all ask for Doink, Papa Shongo and Nails but for an arcade game I think this is a pretty decent roster set.

I HATE DLC. In fact, other than the year I rented NCAA Football and had to pay for an online pass I have never purchased any DLC. I understand companies need to make a buck but as a consumer when I purchase a product I expect to get the entire product. IF companies aren't making $ with the $60 current price for most games then they should raise their price or figure out ways to have less cost in development.

I agree with Pasta on this one. If the game is going to have this much DLC, the price should start at 40 bucks.THQ did practically the same thing with SvR 2011 and holding back The Nexus guys, but adding them was such a waste (since it only added three of them) that it was barely even worth holding back, or downloading, in retrospect. But holding back a third of the All-Stars roster is just unforgivable.

IF companies aren't making $ with the $60 current price for most games then they should raise their priceThe second they do that people would start complaining that they didn't want those "extra features", so they should lower the price back. It's a horrible system, but they're pretty much stuck too.

It's truly inexcusable to hold back that much of the basic game though.

Just played for about 45 mins. Its pretty much what I expected it to be.

Demo = Ultimate Warrior v. Rey Mysterio.

Its fast paced. When I was warrior i pretty much just dominated with strikes and power moves. When I was Rey reversals seemed easier. Pretty fun not sure its worth $60 but I'm going to try to get it via rental or I might wait to pick it up after a price drop.

Definitely recommend this game...only got into one online match, so hopefully tomorrow I can get a better feel for that. The Fantasy Warfare mode is very awesome with the intro videos they do. The Path to the Champion mode is nice too. I think online and local multiplayer (just like the old days) will be where it is at. The achievements and trophies are pretty good too, and some will take some serious playing which isn't a bad thing.

Did a cage match, and really like that system. Once you climb to the top of the cage, there is an arrow going back and forth and you gotta hit it within the target area, and you have to do that 5 times to be able to exit the cage, there is a struggle button mash system when the opponent catches you on the cage....overall I think that mode is solid.

I think this is as fun as the game I played in college non-stop (Wrestlemania 2000 - Nintendo 64)....it's gonna be a blast with friends, and there is enough offline to keep you busy too.

CLW
03-29-2011, 05:38 AM
The Dragon takes it. Wow this game looks really fun. I'm not sure it's worth a full $60 though especially with only 1/2 of the roster unlocked for $60. Unfortunately I didn't get it from GameFly so I am not sure if I just bite the bullet and buy it or wait for a price drop or to just wait for it on GameFly.

Anyone still have this bad boy? I finally got it from GameFly and I'm pretty much down to only the online trophies for the Plat. I tried a few games online and WOW I really suck or these guys just have way too much time on their hands.

In any event, if any of you guys want to "boost" each other let me know. Otherwise, I'll prob just finish the few offline trophies I still have remaining and then mail it back.
