We'll have a new one each month, open for all to give feedback.

If we missed something in the previous month's thread, post again here. Feedback can be anything, ranging from smilies to new content idea, etc. Feel free to PM if you don't want to post an idea publicly.

The fact that it took this long to notice is probably saying something, but a) we don't have a January thread & b) Bullish is missing the "Today's Posts" link we previously added to the other skins.

I'll try and get that in this weekend. Nice catch.

On my Droid's default browser (Droid 1 A855 series), the first post in each thread is still doing what it used to do all the time (weird spacing like it's all scrunched up to the left). Haven't tried it with any other browser on my phone (don't really like any of the other available browsers besides firefox and firefox is horribly unoptimized) so not sure if it's a singular issue with the default browser or in general with how Android handles php.

I saw it somewhere recently too, mors. Maybe it was on my phone or a specific skin.

EDIT: Lol ... and I switch back from "Original" to "Bullish", and it appears in this thread too. So it's not your browser, it's probably Bullish.

While you're editing Bullish ... it looks like links are even harder to see (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/) on Bullish than Original. Don't know why it took me this long to notice it, but the gray looks awfully close to the regular text color. Would recommend either editing the color for links or adding an underline (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/).

Definitely underline if at all possible (though a drastic change in the text color would be better for when you want to have links in tables or something like I would do for a table of contents for a dynasty report thread).

I will adjust the color. An underline will go on every link on the site, so pretty much everything on the forum main page would get underlined.

I think Tommy found the fix for the first post shift, so hopefully he remembers how he did it. I didn't find anything on a quick search.

I've fixed the first post issue on the Bullish skin... not sure if that also fixed the Mobile skin or if you just weren't using Mobile but either way, both appear to be fixed. Let me know if that's not the case.

I will adjust the color.Looks to me like the color is straight black now.

Wasn't it red at one time? It was something other than black/gray, but I can't remember what.

Does the Community Wishlist Tournament forum still exist?

EDIT: The answer is yes (http://www.thegamingtailgate.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?36-2010-NCAA-Football-Community-Wish-List-Tournament).

Changed it to RED for now. Let us know what you think.

I think it looked better with bolded black....

JeffHCross

I agree that bolded black looks better for the forum links, mors, but that also affects any link in posts. So now we have black text with black links ...

Test url (http://www.google.com)running together with text...

Yeah, that looks terrible in forum posts...

I wish we could set up a different layout for the front page versus forums in regards to text and link color. Keep the feedback coming on it. We'll keep playing with the colors until something emerges as the best option.

EDIT - Added BOLD to links. Let us know what you think of this and we'll go from here. :) Test: Greatest song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GUl9_5kK9ts) ever.

It's easy to figure out those are links, but is going to be confusing with anyone who uses a lot of bold (I'm think Oneback's NCAA Strategies).

Gotta find a happy medium.

Chris, this post seems to suggest that you can break the inheritance between the home page and the rest of the forum: http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/showthread.php?t=255281

I'll see what I can find on that. Nice find, JHC. For now, I'll put links as Blue so they stand out.

cdj
01-16-2011, 11:11 PM
OK. Looking at what JHC posted, we were able to make a skin for the front page (Bullish Front) and another skin for the forums (Bullish).

Let me know if they are defaulting that way for you or if they had to be manually selected.

morsdraconis

Appear to have to be manually set as all the links just look bolded black to me.

JeffHCross

Chris, I don't even see Bullish Front as an option.

cdj

Chris, I don't even see Bullish Front as an option.

I think that is because I had it selected to NO for Selectable by User. I keep forgetting that we can't force users to a certain skin unless we delete (or copy and rename) the existing skins. Personally, I think the Bullish skin runs circles around what we had before (the link color does need addressed), but I don't know how many people are using it or have found it. New members should have Bullish as default. We can set that.

Question for all - Would you like it (or use it) if we had all editing options available when using Quick Reply? I saw that WhoIsDo is adding this to his site (StickSkills.com) and wondered if it is worth adding here.

JeffHCross
01-19-2011, 06:52 PM
I do believe that Bullish was applied to everyone at some point. I know I got it without choosing it at some point.

Personally, I think the editing options that are available in Quick Reply are enough. Most people don't use beyond those options anyway, even in an Advanced post. If there's something you really want to see there (maybe bulleted lists?), there's no reason not to add it ... but no real reason to add everything either.

Small item added. You can post your Twitter ID in your profile and an icon & link will appear in the postbit. Only made sense to add since AIM, ICQ, Yahoo, etc. are already there.

An emoticon that is similar to this (rapid eye shaking, eyes bugging out) would be awesome: http://l.yimg.com/us.yimg.com/i/mesg/emoticons7/13.gif

I must say, IMO, the forums at covers.com have the best emoticons. I'd be a proponent of adding them.
