FSU finishes 2012 season with 24-21 Victory over Penn St for the National Title.

Looking ahead to next season:

QB
return: 2
lose: 1
recruit: 2
FSU loses EJ Manuel and his 3600 passing yards/28 TDs but back up Junior to be Clint Trickett did gain valuable experience passing for 55-91 1151 yards and 11 TDs(6INTs) this past season. Joining trickett in the QB competition will be journeymen Will Secord and 2 incoming freshman including Florida's Mr. Football Mcpherson.

RB
return: 5
lose: 2
recruit: 1

FSU loses senior HB Ty Jones (300 yards, 5 TDs) and FB Debrale Smiley (5 TDs).
Senior to be Christ Thompson may still opt for the NFL draft after his 1167 yd 19 TD season.
If he leaves JUCO RB Joey Taylor 6'1 215 Lbs will enter and compete with sophomores Eugene Reed and Kyle Sears for the starting position. FB Lonnie Pryor will make his return after sitting out last season due to a broken leg. Pryor is a versatile back that will lend his experience in all sorts of ways to the offense.

WR
return: 5
lose: 1
recruit: 3

FSU will lose true Senior Willie Haulstead, the 6'3 218 pound stud is a lock for the 1st day of the draft with his combination of size and speed.

6'6 Rodney Smith will take over the top spot and Greg Dent and Christian Green will battle it out for the #2 position. FSU did sign the #2 overall WR in the country as well and he could make some noise when he gets on campus. Kenny Shaw and Zach Powell will provide depth, and 2 other juco signees may contribute immediately.

TE
return: 3
lose: 0
recruit: 0

FSU has signed a top TE in each of the last two classes and is blessed with their talent translating to the field immediately. Freshman Kenard Robinson will continue to man the starting role with Sophomore Quentin Dawson playing a major role in the offense as well. Junior journeymen Tank Sessions provides great depth and is a solid special teamer.

OL
return: 10
lose: 2
recruit: 1

FSU loses senior starters LT Zebrie Sanders and RG Rhonne Sanderson. The depth on the line is quite solid with 5* RG coming in to compete for the spot vacated by Sanderson. FSU does not expect much of a drop off here.

DE
return:5
lose: 2
recruit: 1

FSU loses Toshmon Stevens and Brandon Jenkins but has players who have started multiple games already in the fold. Superstar 6'7 DE Brian Hunt mans one end and Jonathan Tatum will man the other. FSU hopes to redshirt its incoming DE.

DT
return: 4
lose: 3
recruit: 1

FSU loses starter Jaccobi Mcdaniel and reserves Everett Dawkins and Amp Mcloud. Mcdaniel will be tough to replace and FSU is counting on rising Sophomore Ben Smith to step into his playmaking Role. FSU signed 1 JUCO DT to provide immediate depth and hopes to sign at least 2 in 2013.

OLB
return: 3
lose: 1
recruit: 1

FSU loses senior Dravannti Johnson who was taken in just to be a stop gap but turned into a big time player. Christian Jones will continue to man one of the spots and Daniel Washington and Telvin Smith will battle for the other side. This is probably FSUs weakest position.

MLB
return: 4
lose: 0
recruit: 1

rising juniors Jeff Luc and Lawrence White will continue their epic struggle to win the starting job in the middle. With the abundance of depth here dont be surprised to see one of them switched to OLB.

CB
return: 4
lose: 1
recruit: 1

FSU loses big play CB Greg Reid, Lamarcus Joyner returns for his senior year and former 5* recruit Mike Bentley is ready to prove he is prime time material.

FS
return: 2
lose: 2
recruit: 1

FSU loses 3 year starter Nick Moody and journeymen Gerald Demps. Fighting for the starting spot are rising sophomores Thomas Hawthorned who has big time speed, CJ Young who has the best grasp of the defensive so far, and super star 5* FS who has the entire package.

SS
return: 1
lose: 1
recruit: 1

FSU loses reserve Ed I. but hopefully keeps senior to be Jejuan Harley for one more season. To round FSUs top safety recruiting class, FSU is bringing in a stud to be groomed to take over for Harley and gain valuable experience this season.

K/P
return: 0
lose: 2
recruit: 1

FSU signed a 3* kicker to handle both K and P duties and will likely have a preferred walkon at the P position in case of emergency.

FSU adds 5* QB Scott Battle 6'4 220lbs from Orlando, FL.

The talented QB was thought to have no hope at division one football but thanks to the Bethune cookman college coaches who spent much time with the player, he turned it around and became academically qualified...unlike Daunte Culpepper who stayed true to UCF (formerly a div 1aa school) Battle could not turn down the opportunity to jump right into Div 1 with the defending national champions.

Battle chose FSU over Miami, BCC, Alabama, Florida, and Ohio State

#3 FSU starts the season with a bang.

FSU has defeated #12 Oregon and #4 Wisconsin in back to back weeks and is ready for conference play. The athletic director drew the ire of coach fsuprime for scheduling such a murderers row to start the season, but now that the best possible outcome has happened, FSU is poised for another national title run. QB Clint Trickett has played calm, cool and collected throwing for over 700 yards in the first 2 games. Senior RB Chris Thompson has rushed for over 280 yards in the first 2 games and looks poised for a big year of awards. The coaches think that the signing of Juco All American Joey Taylor, a bruising specimen, is part of the reason Chris Thompson worked so hard in the off season and is in mid season for already.

The defense has not quite gelled yet and losing a few key players such as CB Greg Reid and FS Nick Moody but junior OLB Christian Jones has been every where racking up 17 tackles including 3 TFLs and a sack. The noles did not pick off a pass in game 1 vs Oregon but nabbed 3 passes in game 2 with junior MLB Jeff Luc picking off a wounded duck and racing 58 yards for a pick 6.

The only bad news so far is freshman 5* FS Patrick Bowen was injured vs the Badgers for 8 weeks with a torn pectoral, the noles will now rely on 2 sophomores to platoon at FS.

FSU finishes a outstanding season capped off by a national title over #1 undefeated Michigan to give the seminoles back to back national titles for the first time in school history.
Clint Trickett won POG honors in both the ACC CG and National title game after playing the worst game of his career @Clemson.

A look to the future:

At QB
FSU loses journeymen Will Secord but returns Trickett, freshman stud Scott Battle, and another freshman who redshirted Paul Mcpherson.
FSU has not signed any QBs as of yet.

At HB
FSU loses all everything Walter Camp award winner Chris Thompson.
FSU returns rising senior Joey 'the bull' Taylor and rising junior Eugene Reed.

FSU has signed a 3* HB so far in recruiting but this is by far the thinnest position on offense.

FB
FSU loses senior iron man Lonnie Pryor
FSU returns rising senior Will Tye who hopes to fill the shoes of pryor.

WR
At WR FSU only loses 6'6 Rodney Smith unless one of the super juniors declare for the draft.

At TE
All everything TE Kenard Robinson(rising junior) and his sidekick rising senior Quentin Dawson return as does journeymen Tank Sessions.

OL
FSU loses 2 OGs Henry Orelus and Blake Snider and 2 OTs Garret faircloth and Bryan Stork.

DL
Journeymen Dan Hicks and starter Demonte Mccallister leave.
This may be FSU's deepest position behind linebacker

LB
FSU returns every single one of its linebackers barring NFL draft entry.

CB
Senior Lamarcus Joyner who led the NCAA with 10 interceptions will move on to the NFL as will Xavier Rhodes and Alex Harvey...these 3 players will be missed sorely.
FSU hopes to return 2nd team AA Mike Bentley for one more season but he could make the jump.

the noles signed 2 ESPN150 CBs to fix this immediate hole and FSU will look to them to step in right away, luckily for FSU they are early enrolee's

FS
All 3 FS' return and should be back for the season after that. It will be a tough battle between rising sophomore and former 5* Patrick Bowen and a hero from the title game Tim Hawthorne who had a pick 6 to seal the fate of Michigan. Bowen let Hawthorne into the discussion and indeed into his starting role by suffering a 9 week injury.

SS
Senior impact player Jejuan Harely will hang up the cleats leaving only former ESPN150 recruit Ross Rogers on the depthchart. One of the FS's may get some time here depending on how the recruits pan out.

A peak at recruiting

FSU currently has a top 10 recruiting class but do not expect it to stay there, FSU will take a very small class this year in hopes of saving some room for a much heralded crop of juniors next season.

Key recruits for FSU
#3 OG David Jaques looks to make some noise at Guard where FSU just lost two seniors.
#3 TE 5* Cody Burnett looks to learn under the tutelage of Kenard Robinson at TE before making a name for himself.
#6 CB Juco Soph. Stan Riley looks to earn a spot as a nickel back or starting corner.
#8 SS Robin Garrison has the size (6'4 224) to fill the gaping hole left by Harley at SS, but can he beat out a fellow espn150 player already on the roster?
#2 OG John Barnes may be the best player in the class and looks to have a shot at starting at OG, OT or C he is that talented.
#4 DT 5* Patrick Clark looks to make an immediate impact in the FSU under defensive front, He has the size and power of a Darnell Dockett and coaches cant wait to get him on campus.
#2 CB 5* Joe Deloach looks to earn starting honors at CB and has the skill set to do it.

Hmmmmm... getting conflicting stories here.

I am just going off of him beating this team already and his RB putting up over 300 yards rushing. Of course I would love to beat him both years, but if I had to pick just one, it would be next season. Not to mention I will have an idea how he plays next season.

Just going off of what I read :)

Florida State loses national title game by 14, but wins acc title and finishes 12-1

Florida State finished the season with a sour taste in their mouth but coach fsuprime thinks his noles just lined up against the most talented team he has ever faced.
FSU is signing a very large class but it has a nice mix of freshman and juco sophomores and juniors which will help the noles even out their future recruiting classes.

a peek ahead:

qbJunior to be Jacob Coker looks to take over the reign's as starting QB as senior Clint Trickett will move on.

rb Eugene Reed returns, but will have to battle against the nations top RB recruiting class with 2 stud Juco's and the nations top RB coming in to compete with him

wrFSU loses 3 top WRs in Kenny Shaw, Greg Dent, and Christian Green, but returns plenty of studs and an OU transfer will also be coming off of his mandatory year away from football.

[te FSU returns 2 top TEs and feels great about this position

fb FSU signed the top FB in the country and he is expected to step in and start right away

OL OG will be good for a few more years but OT looks very thin after this upcoming season and it will need to be remedied through recruiting.

dt The return of Ben Smith is huge for the DT position and ensures the line will play with consistent push.

DE FSU signed some good players here and one may earn significant playing time with AA DE Hunt moving on to the NFL

LB Seniors Jeff Luc, Christian Jones, and Lawrence White will be missed greatly, FSU will have a young LB corps next year and it will be tested early and often.

cb Losing Mike Bentley stings but two top recruits last season showed they were FSU material making big play after big play...FSU needs a nickel back to step up and may have to look at the safety spot to find help
S Tim Hawthorne and Ross Rogers return to man the deep defense for the noles

Only promise to Wheeler was no redshirt, which he got, and he was on the field in a variety of spots playing OLB and ILB most of the year.. racking up a very good freshman campaign.
