Ads and circulars are leaking out and it looks like some pretty good deals are out there - like usual. Here's a good site (http://www.blackfriday2010.com/) that has posted some ads already.

Hopefully retailers like Best Buy have the most of the same deals online again. I think Amazon is usually pretty good at matching things as well.

Looks like some killer new titles will be $35 at Target.....

Fable 3
Medal of Honor
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit
Halo: Reach

NBA Jam for Wii will be $27.

If those deals are available through BestBuy.com, I might be inclined to jump on two of those games, simply to get them at great prices.

Otherwise I'll just wait for Amazon's Cyber Monday.

DC + Black Friday is not pretty. I can't imagine DFW is much better though.

In the deep part of DFW it's crazy, but in the outer areas it's not as bad. Wal-mart in Oak Cliff last year had a lot of cops in it to make sure nothing happened.

JeffHCross
11-17-2010, 07:11 AM
Well, I didn't mean crazy in that regard. I don't get up early enough to see any of that. I just mean it takes 3x as long to get from Point A to Point B. It's like a permanent rush hour, even in the 'burbs.

It seems like some places are opening their doors earlier and earlier it's going to eventually be a bunch of drunks coming from the bars :D at least in Lincoln....there's usually a decent crowd on Thanksgiving night.

The hardest part where I'm at is just getting a parking spot.Parking's tough, of course, but you also have significantly more volume than the roads are designed to handle during the day. Of course, all the major roads into and out and of the city are designed for heavy traffic, but not the shopping districts. We have one stretch between a major outdoor shopping center (including Best Buy, Target, Wal Mart, Sam's Club, etc) and an area mall. Normally it's a 5 minute drive or so between the two. When I went out for Black Friday one year, in the late afternoon, it was a 30 minute or so drive between the two, just because of the lights and traffic.

I think because I have so many games to catch up on, nothing really stands out to me. Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit for $35 and maybe Fable 3 for $35, but I need to finish Fable 2 yet and I haven't played NFS Shift since I had to reformat my hard drive....

LMAO. He doesn't currently have a next-gen console. He and his son are still rockin' the PS2. Basically the impression I got is he wants to get his son a Christmas present that he will use as much as his child (my nephew) does.

I'm sort of a weird uncle. I send a card (no present) and I haven't told anyone in the family that I've started a college fund for him. So, I'm sure my family stature has taken a severe nose dive being the "rich" lawyer married to a "rich" doctor and not sending their nephew any birthday or christmas presents. Hopefully, he will appreciate it when he gets to college.

I saw the Uncharted 2 bundle. Uncharted 2 is a great game but not sure its really appropriate for the nephew (age 8). I also saw a bundle at Best Buy that I think included a racing game and Cars the blue ray movie.

you can always extract the game from the package so he doesnt get itYeah, usually the game doesn't come IN the package, it's just added to it at checkout. Kinda like a fast-food special where you get the food and a drink for a reduced price. Games used to be inside the package back in the Genesis days, but haven't for a while, I don't think.

I went ahead and bit on the WWE SvR 11 for $30 lightning deal Amazon had. I've wanted to get that game since it came out, but have had my money tied up almost constantly in other stuff (including a last second $185 purchase of an entire, game worn, Navy football uniform, both jersey and pants, from a connection through my boss), so I never got the chance to buy it earlier. For half the normal price, couldn't keep myself for pulling the trigger on it last night.

Amazon
NBA 2K11 (PS3/360) $29.99 *likely will be a “Lightning Deal”. Will update.

Damn, that's a killer deal. I will have to try to get that one as I really need to get it for the PS3 now.

Looks like there is a total of 45 lightning deals today on Amazon.

All other places, the Cyber Monday deals are pretty much crap. Especially Target.

One good deal I'm getting in 10 mins or so is Sports Champions for $20. I'm getting the Move for Christmas, and definitely wanted to get this game.

Edit, this is an Amazon lightning deal that will go live at 10:20am central.

If you loved the 8-bit Legend of Zelda games.....in a little under an hour, 3D Dot Heroes for $20 (I assume) is definitely worth it. I've gotten through a couple of levels on the game. It's well done and fun.

Edit: Amazon just posted on Twitter that it will be $14.99.....definitely worth it.

Why Cyber Monday is Mostly a Myth... (http://www.cnn.com/2010/TECH/web/11/29/cyber.monday.hoax/index.html?hpt=C1) :DThat article is full of fail. Black Friday isn't the biggest retail shopping day of the year either.

Well ... shit. I got distracted and forgot to look at the Super Street Fighter deal at 9:20 PM. Super Street Fighter IV for $15. Oh well.

Yeah that was a nice deal....Sports Champions was the only deal I took today.

I ended up not getting anything. Got everything I wanted on Friday (without using the silly Black Friday "deals"). Even at $29.99, I couldn't justify getting NBA 2k11 (as good as it is) for the PS3 when I already have it for the 360.
